Why do all luxury brands use number names? how come only Alfa Romeo and Lincoln are the only brands with names?
>>

To make the driver feel important
>>

Because numbers are for retards who think numbers make them smart.

I miss the Coupe de Ville and El Dorado :(
>>
Because they are appliance at that level. Poor people need a better connection with their car as it ends up being their lifeline all too often.

Rich and faux rich just need to throw money and wants an easy alphanumerical way to show the world how much they spent.

American car manufacturers have done this since before WW2. Oldsmobiles were 60,70 or 90 series and then the last number is what engine a 6 or 8. Buick had 40,50,60,70 series's too. I'm sure there are others
>>
My dad said it's a psychological trick. Since people glaze over codenames like ATS or X6 xDrive35d, it forces them to call the car "a Cadillac" or "a BMW" instead. Apparently calling a car by its marque makes said marque more prestigeous...or something.

And X6 xDrive35d is such a convoluted-ass name.

Hate on old American cars all you want, but a lot of them had pretty kickass names

Even after World War II, some cars were only demarcated by the year they were made.

Well there's that but the other big reason is because it allows luxury car makers to further stratify and classify cars in a more obvious way. When people are made extra aware of hierarchy, it makes them year and seek the higher position. BMW and Audi do this in the most straightforward and obvious way: bigger number = better.

Mercedes classifies by a letter, and then further breaks it down within each class by number. Lexus copied this approach, to an extent, and then every other Japanese manufacturer did the same thing.

Is that with my camera is a Nikon D810 instead of a Nikon Genesis or a Nikon Falcon etc.?
>>
>>17008446
That's not the case at all. There is almost always a name to each trim level and body style. While someone may refer to a 55 Olds as a 55 Olds it's actual name could be a 55 Oldsmobile Super 88 Holiday Coupe or a 55 Oldsmobile 98 Starfire

Makes sense
