So in posted twice in the stupid question thread, but got no real reply.
I have a 2.0 direct injection turbo engine. Dealer said I should have the. Intake valves cleaned once a year. Car has 25,000 miles. They want $180.
Is that something I should pay them, or someone else to do, or can I SeaFoam it?
Or just invest in a meth injection kit?
they're probably just going to take a water bottle and spray it into the intake while revving the motor.. you should be able to do that for less than 180$

Shouldn't water never enter the intake tract?
>>17003836
Small amounts will vaporize.
Does it have egr? If yes then seafoam it or something. If no they're trying to Jew you.

Is it possible to even see the intake valves to check for carbon deposits? Is that scope thing from Harbor Freight long enough?
>>17003695
If the car has Direct Injection then it is a must. Get it done once at the dealer and then after that just buy a bottle of intake valve cleaner at autozone and do it yourself every 10k miles.
Request before and after pictures from the dealership.
Also wtf, every year???

thats DI for you m8. carbon buildup can be quick as fuck. Saw a taurus that had completely gunked valves at 15k miles.
Ill never buy another car with a DI engine. Ill get a fucking moped first.
OP pls. Get it cleaned, then, depending on car + fuel type, do a EGR delete and PCV catch can mod

m8 regular air has water dissolved in it. Look up how people clean carbon deposits on the piston surface by spritzing water into the intake. It's not enough to hydrolock the engine

How is it that diesels don't gunk up?
>>17003695
GTI?

Diesels do get buildup.

The problems about carbon buildup on intake valves is why Lexus and Toyota have self-cleaning methods using two sets of injectors (DI+Port Injection). GM has its own solution as well.

But why is it that diesels arent normally required on intake valve cleaning than gassers?
