It's easy to figure out that the garage space required for one mid sized car can just as well accommodate up to six motorcycles, and a single garage space is a rather easy goal in life. But what would be your personal dream half dozen to stuff into it?

Bikes are a great way to meet friends.
>>
>>16998706
Big difference if you don't take any courses, no difference if you do.

There are some basic techniques and ideas that I know for a fact some people manage to ride for years without knowing. This causes issues in panic situations, so not great riders.

But if you get some basic instruction and a safe place to understand the limits of a bike (such as a day course or weekend course), or if you just take it upon yourself to find a parking lot and a knowledgeable friend, then I'd say it makes almost no difference.

>>16998732
But the courses we get here in yurop are designed to not only understand the limits of a bike, but also knowing how to control it properly and how to react in emergency situations before we even go riding on the streets. And not the calm and empty roads, no, right into the hell where stalling means blocking an entire town. In my case, the most wealthy town in the country and you can bet your arse than they don't like being held up and those fancy cars don't have calming horns.

>>16998804
You """learn""" stuff but that doesn't mean shit. Bad riders will be bad riders. As long as you get taught it, it doesn't matter how long you were taught it for.

I did a 2 day course (I think 16 hours total) and it was everything from learning how2clutch to emergency avoidance and loss of traction simulations. I feel like that could be cut down to 8 hours or so if you already know how to ride (the whole first day we basically only learned the basics, didn't even get into 2nd gear iirc).

So yeah, I think that 4-8 hours of course + knowing how to actually control a bike is sufficient. Knowing how to control a bike without knowing what it feels like to be in panic situations isn't enough. But 20-30+ hours? Seems excessive. Not sure what you could have possibly learned extra other than perhaps having lengthier in-class practice.
>>

>will my GS sell? :/

No. No more GS will ever be sold. Kek wills it.

>How can afford to keep totaling bikes?

Seek competing quotes! My bro who was into good old fashioned redneck insurance fraud knew that insurance companies don't really give a shit about wrecks, so when he totalled a vehicle he'd switch companies after the payout.

BTW if you need to total a car or truck, buckle the cab floor. Also for trucks, bend a front frame horn in the crush zone. For cars, smash either rear quarter sufficient to crumple the trunk and rear suspension mounts.

Bikes? Sneeze at them and they're done.

Modern bikers crash at least monthly so plan your fleet accordingly. Crashing is cool and you should treat the street like the track because they both have pavement.

>How do you accidentally ride straight into a car?

By deliberately avoiding all the other options.

>Not sure what you could have possibly learned extra other than perhaps having lengthier in-class practice
How about KNOWING how to do that, not having done it a few times.
Yes, after the first few lessons I could ride that bike no problem. But I was still doing shit consciously, not automatically.
My instructor regularly let me do shit I didn't do for weeks and expected me to do it perfect the first try.

The amount of people here asking the most basic questions shows me proper riding lessons would help out a lot.
I wonder if it's even mandatory to know all parts of a bike and how to check if it's right or not.

Has anyone else turned into a completely reckless faggot since starting riding?

I remember thinking to myself "Oh, I'll always just go the speed limit".

"Oh, I'll never speed. I don't want to die. Hell, I might even just avoid highways all together"

Fast forward to today, some ducati rolled up behind me (Gixxer) at a stop light and I tried to get him/her to race. Even gave the faggot a thumbs up and he/she didn't do so much as a nod. I took off, hit 120 in a 45, and then see this faggot slowly crawl up in my mirror doing the speed limit.

The Q4 state 96db, the Powercore 4 states 99db or ~94db with the quiet insert. The DG V2 says 96db with a quiet insert as well. I have no idea what the stock exhaust puts out to compare, though.

The Yoshis description says it's for street use and "quiet" but doesn't give a noise rating.

Why the fuck can't manufacturers just provide specs.

Not really. Somewhat aggressive, yes, but I'm not flying by people, cutting them off, etc. I will throttle on and jet in front of someone after I've put my blinker on and looked at directly at them if they're in that awkward over-the-shoulder blindspot. I swear women and people on phones specifically train to park there.

>speeding
I like to get away from people, so yeah. Also, certain roads around Des Moines are set artificially low (I-235 near the traffic camera, specifically).

>>16999113
I go chill af at intersections and around traffic.

Go very hihg speed on the toegay when roads are free. Getting a bit worried tho as I'm costantly trying to go faster. Now scraping pegs consistently and starting to feel the limits of my bike's average tier suspension/brakes. Will probably crash badly due to exceeding those limits soon.
>>
what happens if i get pulled over for expired registration no insurance and driving at night with only a permit?
>>
>>16999113

Most days I'm very responsible. I'll launch on green lights and accelerate hard, but only up to the speed limit (40-50mph most places). I do like to wheelie a bit on green from time to time when there is another motorcycle next to me. Sometimes they go for it and shoot past me as I stop at 45mph, sometimes they don't bite. Occasionally someone is ready and smokes me, which is fun too.

Every now and then though I let my inner child get the best of me and speed 50% over the limit, or drive over medians / curbs / through places I shouldn't. One of the advantages of a dual sport.

Start lifting.
When I went from my old XT-350 to my KLR650 it felt like double the weight. Your Scooter is few kilos heavier than my KLR.

How fast did you get moving?

I linked that because I remembered a cool story, brah. That aside, I wouldn't mind taking my DR650 cross-country if I could get the time off work, that goofy rally fairing ProCycle sells, and a big Acerbis tank. As for now, I just need risers for my V-Strom's bars and then I'll be golden on that.

This. I started off with a HJC CL-17 helmet which is pretty much the universal entry level cheapo helmet. I had no idea what a pile of shit this helmet was until I tried on the more expensive helmets. These new helmets are lighter than a feather meanwhile my HJC is basically an anvil.

Also, things like wind noise management and air flow are much more refined in the more expensive helmets. More sizes are available too for an exact fit.

The cheap helmets are good for letting the tinder sluts use when they sit on the back. Get the good helmet for yourself

I've got a Shoei as it fits me the best and I think the venting is the best on the market (or was when I bought mine 3 years ago). Ohio has much less in the way of offroading than I thought when I bought my bike and this looks a lot more aerodynamic for the freeway, and those couple pounds wont hurt me much on the bumpy dirt roads I can find (really I only use the ground clearance while I'm driving like a cunt to hop curbs and fly over speedbumps and railroad tracks at 65 mph, or when a fishing hole is om the far end of a shitty dirt road)

Yeah they do. I think it's because there's driving styles from all over the US put in one spot, and they just collide. They're actually working on the roads though, so those are getting smoother at least. I almost moved to that side of the tunnel when I first got out here, I'm glad I didn't. no, that's why it's pointless to chase it.

Within less than a minute of jumping on a 1000 I was pretty used to it's acceleration, this isn't bragging or anything like that this is just the plight of our people, that's why you need to go to trackdays and get your turning on, because straight line thrills fade like sandcastles in the sand.
>>
>>17000254
Buy a cheap metric socket set with an extender, breaker bar, needle nose vice grips, pb blaster, and a set of metric allen keys, a service manual, and you.can do 90% of all the work you'll have to. Add a harbor freight motorcycle jack, calipers, and tire spoons and you can do 99% of it. A few specialty tools and the only thing that can kill that can kill it is a lack of available replacement parts. Every other tool is a luxury
