Truth be told, I fucking hate driving manual 90% of the time. Most of my driving is not fun, or on fun roads, or in places where I can take full advantage of manual gear selection. I make downshifts from 5-4 and 4-3 when I see traffic slowing down to pretend it's somehow superior to just braking a bit, then I waste shifts getting back up to 5th.

That last 10% of driving where I'm on a twisty backroad or at an autocross barely makes it worth it. I actually drove my old auto C4 Corvette faster at the autocross than any of the manual C4fags who showed up. I don't know how that works, but it's clear to me that manual is a fucking meme and we all fall for it because we want to pretend we drive fast.

God dammit.

There is a lot of truth to this.

Modern cars are designed by the absolute top of the field engineers. Sure, there are cost considerations, and emissions laws and whatnot. But unless you're willing (i.e., have the $2-3k it requires to actually buy substantial upgrades), you're wasting your time.

If you want to go fast, buy a bike. Better dollar to performance ratio. $20k doesn't get you much in the car world; but in the bike world, for that money you can get a serious racing machine that you'll never outgrow.

The thing is, though, in a car acceleration is way more addictive. Also you can take corners way harder in a car, where as, if you don't know what you're doing, a bike will understeer super easy.

Only had a motorcycle for a month though so what do I know. But I can say this, the adrenaline of punching the throttle has already worn off. Where as drifting my car around u-turns is still a blast, this is why my next vehicle will be a dual sport, the roadways are just designed to be anti-fun -- flat, slow and you have to stop every couple hundred feet, nothing like a race track or trail which is where all the fun is.

I used to dd a 30yo 5spd manual modified sports car.

If bikes are king at something, it's power/weight.
Also, bikes oversteer easily, cars are prone to understeering.

That said, I almost pooped my panties taking a corner 20mph faster in my miata than my litre ever could and not having to worry about pulling wide as I rolled on the throttle.

Feels slow on a bike though because you're so high up and the way you sit it's more like you're de-attached where as in a car it's like a cockpit. That's subjective though. Anything less than mach 5 would impress a fighter jet pilot.

This is where I stop. Riding dangerously isn't something I take lightly. I doubt I'll ever try to go beyond 80% of my skill level just because I like living too much. If that happens it'll likely be cause of gravel or something.
