Flushing the coolant doesn't cost that much and is a good seasonal practice anyway. Even more so, if you don't know what's in there and when it was preciously replaced.

Clean the opening and cap. If you get flakes in new liquid start looking around.

While you've drained the old liquid, might as well have a look inside pump and check that the thermostat operates in pot of boiling water.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. You could do a leak down test or have the oil checked but in 3k there's not much that can go wrong. As others said, redlining is not much of a problem. It's worse when they went highway riding for a long time and held it at the same rpm. Still, these things are pretty idiot proof.

So guys

I think I am into cruisers.... I've ridden motorcycles in various places, on holidays and so on, but never owned my own (due to travelling job).

I wanna get something to play around with back home during summer, and like I said I think I'm into cruisers (why do I feel like im coming out?).

Anyway, I've been eyeing up a 1995 honda VT 1100 ace. But I'm afraid if it typically honda will be too sterile?
Another alternative is just to go all-in and get a HD. But the prices are obscene and it would have to be the sportster, as I think the bigger ones are too much flashy and chromy.
Can I be redpilled on HD.... If we could skip the obvious HD fanboys and haters, it'd be swell.

Thoughts?
>>
>>16971687
>why do I feel like im coming out?

Is there a point in rebuilding brake components (e.g. sticky caliper and master cylinder) if you don't replace any parts? Or am I just doing more harm by introducing dust, marking metallic surfaces and straining rubber parts?

I'm Just pulling them open, inspecting for obvious damage (which there is usually none), cleaning all parts, lubing with brake fluid and reassembling.
>>
>>16971687
Sporties are fun, get a 1200 of you go down that road, 883 gearing sucks for the highway. They have a massive amount of parts you can customize it with so you can make it into whatever you want.

Those parts should be very cheap.

>>
>>16971705
>>16971705
Yea I'm aware of the aftermarket for HD.

But what I want to know, how is the reliability? They have a reputation for being unreliable, which I'm sure has been fixed at some point in time, but what years would you avoid HDs? Would I have to get a fairly new one to avoid unreliability?

Also, because the price is higher than comparable jap cruisers, what am I getting for the extra money, besides branding?
>>
>>16971717
>very cheap
Nope. But the main gripe is shipping time and possibility that it might not be it.

Like, what if i wait 3 weeks and pay 40$ if it could be fixed in a day for the cost of lost brake fluid. OTOH if simple overhaul doesn't help, will it do any harm in case new seals are on their way anyways?
>>
>>16971729
Reliability on the evo motors and newer are very reliable, the unreliable harley days are long gone, that was early 70s and 80s. Price is mostly branding and then fit and finish. Try shit out and see what you like.
>>
>>16971747
Well there's a chance you'll make the problem worse by simply continuing to use the already bad parts. The disassembly/reassembly shouldn't make a difference to that though, unless you fuck something up or introduce a pebble or some shit. If I were you, I'd definitely order a seal+piston kit. Those pistons look worn as fuck.

Madman.
My number plate for my KLR 650 got knocked off more than a year ago. Still havent got a another one.

I get through police road blocks because the don`t see until I am through it.

Sometime they point at me to stop but I pretend to not have see them and filter fast right past them. I suppose maybe they just can`t be bother to fetch me.

I have run from cops only once. I popped a whoooooooly past traffic police at a robot. Just near my house I see another traffic cop car. They point at me and jump in to chase me. I pulled a 4 left turns where they could see me.

I've found stuff with transparent body panels fascinating since I was a kid. Being able to see the internals of a machine is interesting, but having something to cover and protect them can be necessary or a great asset.

I'm wondering: why don't motorbikes have transparent body panels? Standard bikes are, like most naked machines, interesting to look at, but motorcycles benefit greatly from the aerodynamics of bodywork.

I always said I didn't like dealerships, but I think I'm about to break my rule. Everything I've heard about the 2017 09's is that they're fucking awesome to ride even if they look kind of retarded.

It's a sportsbike, they all have a terrible turning radius.

For everyday use it might get annoying. My big adv bike can do a u-turn on small roads, the f800st needs to manoeuvrer more times. to do the same.
>>
>>16971835
do what I did and get a learner legal, ride it on your CBT, then after a few months do your A1 test, so you can ride a 125 without L plates. Then you can ride it with a passenger/on motorways.

It's not that bad.

Alright lads so I kinda miffed up my bike last night. I loosened the bolts on the fork clamps/ triple tree to try and realign my front wheel a bit. It's been a while since I did it so I loosened all the pinch bolts on the clamps instead of just the top clamp. So when I started plunging down on the bars the clamps dropped about half an inch.

The plan to move em back up is just bang it with a rubber mallet. Any other ideas?

I work at a BMW dealership. They do indeed think they're the coolest motherfuckers around. But instead of being some kind of construction worker or tradesman or actual outlaws in a club like lots of Harley riders, those adventure riders I described are just rich old fags who want to maintain an image and talk down to people. The 800GS is BMW's actual offroad machine. The 1200GS is to drain a Boomer's pension and sit in a garage.

Daily reminder that CLIMATE doesn't equal WEATHER, and that localised extreme conditions such as heavy snow fall are well understood through science and don't contradict Global Warming in the slightest.

When you exhaust brake, does it pull air in? The mesh jammed in my DB killer makes a huge difference but I don't want it pulled back into my engine...

got sucked off by an italian tourist last night. pretty skilled tongue, managed to make me cum eventually

couldn't get hard though so I guess I'm not turned on by guys

I don't know if it created a vacuum on the exhaust stroke without combustion...
>>
>>16973657
yes, it does to some extent but its just scavenging like on idle.
if it doesnt eat it at idle i wouldn't worry too much. id also not have loose bits of metal flapping around in my exhaust if it were me though

Any good ideas for motorcycle related tattoos?

And you who were gonna comment on how tattoos are trashy and/or plebian: fuck right off.
>>
>>16972350
If you want to run wide and potentially die, yes.

Otherwise get the SV
>>
>>16972369
Depends whether you get the naked SV (2003, one year bike) or the semi faired (more common) one.

Naked one has proper bars, and is more upright. The semi faired one has clip one and is more of a sports position.
