after having bought 3 sport bikes, ive come to realize that i hate them. they are just too uncomfortable for me. i also feel safer and funny enough like I can corner better on a standard/upright bike for some reason. not sure why. guess i am just more confident/feel in control when i am upright as opposed to hunched over.

so im thinking about selling them all and just getting a fz-09 or something even though the power is going to be a significant downgrade. maybe a s1000r. definitely not a mt10 since thats for faggots

The pegs on my CBR look like those you pictured. They still get pretty slippery if there's any moisture or mud on your boots or the pegs.
>If you're not scraping peg (I was scraping peg with the feelers off) don't bother, just put some skateboard grip tape on the existing pegs.
Clearance isn't really an issue for me. I'm a cantturn apparently. I kind of just wanted something to try different leg positions. Also I need some way to extend my shift lever because I can barely get my boot under it even with it adjusted as high as can go. Or I could just a boot made for this kind of riding.

Yeah? Any things of note with the house? The missus probably looks cutefunny with how small she is, relatively speaking, with her baby belly. Please tell her I said hello and I hope all's well, and to let me know if you guys get close and need anything else.

So how does a stock bandit go for touring?
>good ergos for a tall skelly
>stock fairing puts windblast on shoulders
>can warm hands on the engine
>excellent stability
>excellent luggage tie downs
>top gear is too short - 4000rpm at 120 kph

Overall comfier than a naked bike but not as comfy as a touring bike.

>>
>>16968902
Depends on your definition of cheap, they have a slight meme tax and are a bit more expensive just because they weren't really a thing until 10-15 years ago, so everything is newer than that. But a good DRZ or WR 450 can be had for under $4000. Also they're pretty good for moving from dirt to street, everything about it will be familiar, so you can focus on the road instead of the bike, and when you drop it it probably won't break anything.

This is an old pic cause I changed that headlight for an all black JW speakers adaptive led headlight. I plan to put either a 12" or 14" sissy bar but it all depends if I change the stock handle bar. Awesome. Hope it's nice out, I've had enough of this.

Sounds like a plan. I definitely need to get blasted this weekend. On a budget, any ideas/suggestions?

Last time I was by the beehives was iirc a few semesters ago, I was also running around with a bow and some arrows cause it was pretty quiet around. I've got the coords for the beehives if they're still there, idk.

I have a p gud idea, probably first through sixth, aye? You don't park underground do you?

Finals begin Cinco de Mayo, no clue when mine is cause schedules aren't out yet. Wbu?Perhaps there'll be decent bikes for sale when people graduate, if need be I can buy one and stash it in the apartment I'll have next year.

how do you deal with bloodclots and lack of circulation while riding?

in a car you're always free to stretch or move your feet/legs around, especially ween in cruise control

by the way, is there cruise control for bikes?

and if so how easy is it to engage

i really love my prius CC, cause its right where you put your hand when holding the bottom spokes, palm facing down and i can engage it at 24mph or higher

Shouldn't you be on a vegan board or something?

Answers, since I'll bite:
1, 2: You are not locked in a given position. You can move about on the bike all you like, and stopping for a moment isn't hard.
3: Yes, CC exists. Some large bikes have it equipped from the factory, and there are aftermarket devices ranging from fancy things that deal with your throttle and/or ECU to as simple as a friction-based throttle lock. I use something called a Crampbuster because I'm too cheap to pay for CC.

Don't be morbidly obese (good advice in general), and realize that most bikes are going to have a shorter nonstop range than the average car despite getting better mpg's so you'll likely have more forced opportunities to stretch and walk around a bit while travelling; 3-5 gallon tanks versus 12-20 and all that. You're also not glued into the saddle or pegs/boards so you can usually adjust a bit here and there to get more comfortable.

>cruise control for bikes

Yup.

My pocket likes getting wasted on the cheap, so probably straight up vodka with occasional gummy worms. I like potato vodka cause it doesn't smell too strong. Otherwise, rum.

Yeh I'm down for a hide and seek, post a generic pic and I'll roll around and tape the WATS somewhere for you when I find it... next sat? If I'm inebriated I'll try not to stick a beer in your exhaust if I've got one.

Yeah they're going to have to get like 400km+ of range for me to seriously consider electric.

Lol probably a bad example. still and all, there are a lot of people with poor judgment that either makes them so risk averse that they contemplate never leaving their house again, and people that are so unaware of risk that they tend not to live past 20.

Hard to imagine riding a motorcycle if you are really safety conscious, though. You'd figure a prius with srs airbags would be the choice de jure.

there is a healthy medium between refusing to do fun things because theyre slightly more dangerous than everyday activities and going so fast that youre putting yourself and others in danger.
>>
>>16970065
>and others
who?
most cars nowadays will tank your average 200kg bike like nothing, they are rated to crash into eachother at 130kmh
most bikers ride at their limit on secluded mountain roads, at hours when they are generally empty
>>
>>16970066
Pull out in front of a motorbike while they're riding at the speed limit so they hit your drivers side door and let me know how you end up
>>

if you fuck up and crash, youre effectively creating a road hazard nobody on the road is expecting or prepared for. its possible for you to cause another accident which is far more serious than just hitting a bike. hell, even just hitting a bike can seriously fuck someone up in the right situation. even if youre riding like an idiot where you think youre completely alone, you could be wrong.

i think its nice that a company was able to put real effort into building something different that wasn't some shitty art bike that more then likely doesn't run.

but in the end it was a way more expensive version of a motorcycle that was better then it in everyway.
it has the LC8 from the RC8 and the production version even has the same exhaust/cat on it.

it was a good try but maybe next time they will do better.

New rider here. I don't quite get throttle blipping.

Say I'm pulling up to a red light and want to stop. I'm in say third gear at 4,000rpm. Is it

>clutch in
>downshift
>open throttle to 4,000rpm
>release clutch

?
>>
>>16970212
If you're in third and downshifting to second it needs to go higher than 4k to make it smoother.

It should just be a small blip and the clutch quickly pops out in almost one motion. Like 1/2 second of gas, clutch out immediately after you stop gassing. Takes a while to get the muscle memory down but once you do, you'll do it without even thinking about it.

Don't focus too much on having the correct RPM, you're just spinning the engine a bit so it doesn't jerk you from idle.
>>
After 13 years of talking about getting a motorcycle, I finally went a few weeks ago to get my endorsement, and got a loan so now I'm in the market.
>>
>>16970216
>If you're in third and downshifting to second it needs to go higher than 4k to make it smoother.

That's where I'm fucking up I think.

Thanks anon. Just need practice I suppose.
>>
>>16970219
Try to imagine where the RPM's would be if you were going the same speed in the gear under the one you're in. Probably like 2-5k higher depending on the bike.
>>
>>16970217
Shoulda been saving those 13 years so you wouldn't have to get a loan.
Idk why, but a loan on a bike just seems wrong to me.
>>
>>16970221
Ahh! That makes a lot of sense.
>>
>>16970216
>you're just spinning the engine a bit so it doesn't jerk you from idle
so there's no negative effects on the motor from not blipping?
>>
>>16970222
Yeah it did at first, but I'm about to pay off my second vehicle and wanted to keep my credit going, so I'm just in a good spot to do it
>>
>>16970227
I mean, motors are meant to spin up and down all day long so beyond general wear and tear there shouldn't be unless you're slamming on it.
>>
>>16970227
to the motor, no
you'll kill your clutch and snap a chain
>>

>>
>>16970243

>>
>>16970212

Why wouldn't you just keep the clutch held in the whole time while braking and downshifting in a scenario like stopping for a red light?
>>
>>16970246
sounds nice and less wear on the brakes
>>
>>16970247
I once had a homeless guy come up to me (in the middle of the road) while I was waiting in traffic to tell me that my bike wasn't loud enough and that I sucked because of it :( I don't even think blipping would be audible on my bike.

Whats up everyone, you guys probably get these kinda questions alot, so sorry if its common knowledge here.

How would I go about getting a Full A license in the UK, starting completely from scratch? Im 26 so don't have to worry about age restrictions anymore.
CBT, Theory, Mod 1, Mod 2, that is it right?

Where would I fit lessons in, after my CBT and theory? Doesn't that mean id have to take lessons on a very small 125CC bike because im not allowed anything larger?
Or just take a 6 day intensive course where i get everything in a week?
Naturally im going to need all my own protective gear, which is no big deal, but do i need my own bike before i start anything after the CBT ie: lessons and mod 2, or can I rent one from the test center?

Seems like a little less structured learning than driving a car, when i just rang the guy, had my 20 lessons in his car, passed my theory and passed my test then was on my way.
