Is a 4 wheel drive truck necessary to handle logging roads? Does a sedan have enough power and ground clearance to go up the mountains? Would a sedan's weak thin tires pop when it hits sharp objects?
I wanted to drive up into the wilderness specifically to hunting locations but all the good spots are deep in rough logging roads. I only got a sedan.
You could be fine for most of the travel but then come across an obstacle. Wash out, rock that's slightly too tall, whatever. Really depends on the specific road + road material.. gravel, mud, clay

I will place two large plastic boxes inside the trunk.

I'm wondering if it really matters whether you're driving a front wheel drive sedan or a 4 wheel drive F150 in a logging road. If the road is really bad with ditches and water neither vehicles cross anyway. It's not like a 4x4 is invincible. The only real issue I've found was ground clearance.

Just buy a beater Ranger for a few grand.

Insuring another vehicle has heavy costs. A lot of used vehicles tend to have engine problems that make it unreliable. If a vehicle stops moving in the wilderness I'm fucked considering cell phone service is over an hour away driving. There's a reason why that shady guy is selling his Truck for two thousand dollars.
Of course I wouldn't have this issue if I had even more money but I'm poor

Get a small motorcycle

Otherwise that's an excellent idea to venture deep into logging roads. My dad has an old motorcycle laying around. That thing could have as much mobility as a quad.

Then stay home. Or go hunting with friends that have a truck. If you're hunting you should be handy so you should be able to fix your truck that doesn't start in the woods. Rangers are reliable so that shouldn't happen

People haul game on a motorcycle all the time.
Or you can carve your meat and just haul the meat back in a meatbag.
>Meat meat meat.
In case i didnt say meat enough

If you're careful you should be able to get pretty far with a sedan. As long as you don't mind hiking you should be fine.

He can always tie it on top of the roof. Add a Santa hat and tinsel for seasonally appropriate festivity.
