>yfw when you can still buy this car brand new from Toyota for about $26K
I'd buy one immediately, don't need any of that "Progressive Avante" car design.

>tfw ford won't sell the crown victoria anymore
Id buy one fresh off the dealership showroom for that new Crown Victoria smell.

>Ford shelves the Panther because Mercury and Lincoln can't make their versions interesting enough
>moves to make the next gen cop car an AWD Taurus
>Dodge BTFO's Ford and puts a Charger in just about every spot a CVPI used to be
I mean, come on. They could have sold the CVPI for another decade and nobody would have complained. Fleet sales didn't get that bad, did they?

>They could have sold the CVPI for another decade
No they couldn't. There were numerous reasons for the Panthers death.
The panther cars NEEDED to die.
They couldn't meet 2012 safety standards. Making the Panthers pass the standards would require a complete redesign. Said complete redesign (because, yes, they did consider it) would have cost so much money it would have bankrupted Ford who were barely skating by as it was.
The Assembly line and all the tools to make them hadn't been updated since 1991. Presses and dies were failing left and right causing production delays.
What they SHOULD'VE done is killed the Crown Vic and brought over the Australian Falcon. but then they'd have had to crash test the Falcon to American tests, engineer a LHD conversion, and retrofit the Falcon chassis for the Ecoboost V6 over the Barra I6.
This was arguably more expensive then just slapping a Police Interceptor badge on a Taurus.

Used to work in a dry cleaning place that handled uniforms for Highway Patrol, he told me that most of the guys on the force pressured the higher ups to switch to Chargers when the time came, they all wanted to drive around four door muscle cars instead of a twenty year old car that was easily recognizable as Law Enforcement.

makes sense. though the nationwide switch to Chargers will make it infinitely harder for me to get ahold of a decommissioned Caprice PPV

This, it's a crime. I know Maryland uses these though
