/o/

Need a bit of advice. Was loosening wheel bolts on the truck earlier and my breaker bar was bending badly, eventually it snapped just before the knuckle. It wasnt a cheap brand either, cost around $25.

Can you suggest some heavy duty bars to replace it with? Ideally 38-40" long

Also whats a good 1/2" ratchet handle? Currently using a bacho which as been good but is wearing out. Any suggestions appreciated

Snap on for ratchets, pricey but worth it.

I have a 1/2" drive rachet that's 3 foot long from snap on that cost $250. It's a beast. Also been rocking a $60 craftsman (USA made) breaker bar for quiet a few years.

why? they're just heavy and only the sockets really matter. can't remember the last time I broke a ratchet.

$25 is what i would class as a mid range bar, how much do you expect to pay for what is essentially a metal pole with a knuckle on it?

You're an idiot. Craftsman Breaker bars are like 30 bucks. Keep getting jewed by snap gone and pay 150 bucks for a metal stick like a good goy.

There's nothing wrong with a bar bending when putting a bit of force on it, better bending a bit than snapping like a cheap shit bar made of brittle steel.

I've got a Stanley bar that's lasted well over the last 5 ish years, a bit thicker than most and 38" long. Cost about $30.

Weakest part of any bar is obviously the knuckle, keep a few spare for changing them out.

Have a look at Teng tools for ratchets

Snap on are over priced even for the trade. $40 for a socket for example is just rape.

I also have the bacho ratchet and agree its very good for the money. I'd get a decent brand with a lifetime guarantee (there are a few) and replace when worn out.

Snap on are the jew of the motoring tool world.

Sounds like you just had a bad bar, i like Sealey bars, don't know if they're available over there however.

I like Halfords pro ratchets, good price with a lifetime guarantee.

What kind of truck do you have? I'm sure there are some nicer breaker bars out there, but it really sounds like you need 3/4 drive equipment. There is only so much variance in quality in something simple like a breaker bar.

Get a bar without the swivel knuckle. Or a dedicated one piece forged lug wrench.

I've broken more snap on ratchets than any other brand. If it wasn't for their warrenty they would never sell anything.

They make cheap shit with a brand name. Then sell it on at around 5 times what it would cost to buy from another brand. They don't give a fuck when you ave to replace it since you've already paid for them several times over.

I bet you've never even used a dual 80. I'm by no means a brand whore. I own everything from Pittsburgh to snap on and mac, and the snap on dual 80 is probably the best overall ratchet I've ever used and craftsman is the absolute worst.
>>

This. A 3/4" torque multiplier would have done nicely on this job.
>>
>>16930834

I'm on my 2nd one of them, don't believe for a moment they'll last indefinitely or that they're far better quality than any other reputable brand.

Craftsman is now shit quality unfortunately i would avoid all of their stuff.

They swing nicer than most other ratchets. Steel isn't nor will it ever be indestructible, and that is not what their claim to fame is.
