The last poll was flooded with fake emails, didn't have much choice.
Turns out that it actually had some effect because West Coast votes dropped by a crazy margin
Plus wanted to get emails for easier communication anyways, it's a win-win ;^)

Hey guys, really wanting a new bike, and I want to do a scrambler/cafe build.
I can get a bike for cheap, but I was wondering if you guys know what the standard scrambler/cafe aftermarket parts will cost.
I know I want a seat of course, that's only like $100 or cheaper.
Maybe forks and rear suspension depending on the bike I get.
Handlebars are cheap.
Tires are a big one too, because I think I want some slightly knobby tires and depending on the bike I'll probably want new rims.
A new tank, probably.

I know it's pretty subjective to what bike I want for some parts, but I'd love to get a general idea for what some builds cost. Thanks.

Hey, I'm not much of a player, but I had a question. My uncle just passed and gave me his old machine. It's mostly black and white, but it's got some pretty red accents on it. clutchless downshifting is more useful on dirt or certain occasions where you need to get a quick downshift in and don't really have time to do the clutch and all that, just a quick dab of throttle and shift

Do you ride primarily on the road or off the road?
How long are your commutes?
Do you plan on touring? Lots of city riding?
Are you restricted in terms of power or engine size?

>>16909418
Is that just literally the first one you found or is it the bottom of the barrel with like 60,000+ km? In any case, if you can't afford that, you're better off saving up another year and then getting into riding.

>>16909347

>>16909445
Right. Save up for a year, educate yourselves on the bare basics of motorcycles, then buy a used jap and remember you'll want protective gear if you ride. Motorcycling is an expensive hobby, even more so in third world countries apparently. There's no point in rushing into it, and then a) losing all your skin and breaking your bones in a low speed crash, and b) having nothing but trouble with your cheap shitbike.

The DRZ is a better bike in pretty much every way. Especially in the suspension/chassis department, riding offroad, and how fun of a bike to ride.

Only thing the DR650 has on the DRZ is that it is more comfortable on the highway.

Except a better motor, better chassis, substantially better suspension, lower weight, and almost the same amount of power.

Only reason to get a DR650 over a DRZ is if you can get one really cheap or don't plan on going offroad much and plan to be on the highway more than anything else.

last time I checked a dual sport is the same type of bike as a dual sport.

One is just old as shit (DR) and one is slightly less old (read ~10 years newer) with better technology/parts (DRZ).
>>
>>16909507
Well the 650 is cheaper to buy new so you should be able to get one in nicer condition than a similarly priced drz.

Engine will go longer needing less work done to it. 650 definitely better for highway, 400 will definitely be better off road like every lighter bike would be.

DRZ offroad is better not only because of the lower weight but it has about 2" more travel front and read and higher quality forks/shock.

No way, Dr's are like 70% the price of drz's. And yeah, everything that makes a bike good at off-road makes it worse on road and vice versa.

You're overheating it. Check your pressure.

thats typically what happens when you ride hard and overheat the rubber.

If you're not riding hard it could be low pressures like this anon said:

Or you could just have an old junk tire.

>>
>>16909557
Check wheel bearings and chain/sprocket wear/sticky links.

A CCT would be engine speed dependent.

If it only happens at certain road speeds its probably running gear related. Like wheel bearings.

Also check your head bearings.

Did you have your tires balanced last time you put them on?

So after a long journey on motorways on my 125 the engine warning light turns on (not flashing, just stays on) and it has difficulty starting up, and even just switches itself off when I come to a stop.

Whats wrong with my bike? Am I wearing the engine out too much by using it like this? I am subjecting it to a constant 10-12,000 rpm for up to an hour.

Hey lads I'm in need of a bit of advice.
So basically 3 1/2 years ago I did my q-ride course but I haven't rode since as I found myself in a situation where I could no longer buy a motorcycle. Now I am finally in the situation where I can get one and have put a deposit on a 2015 MT-07.
Basically I am going to get my mate to ride it back to mine tomorrow and then I can try to get the hang of it in my own familiar neighborhood and around the shopping centre carpark near my house.
Is this a good idea or should I fork out $100 for a 1.5hr practice session?

(previous to doing q-ride I had about 30-40 hours experience riding a low powered dirtbike)

>>
>>16910251
Too bad for you I guess :^)

He says that you need to learn to ride smoothly and to do that you have to start on a small bike because to go fast on that you will need to learn not to use brakes or let go of the throttle when there's no need for it. He also says that for a pilot going fast on a 125 on a go kart track is the same as doing 300kmh at Mugello on a liter, you will already be used to it by the time you'll do that.
>>16910259
You can do whatever you want but you'll never be fast or know how to ride if you use a big bike for commuting.

Well they can go fuck themselves for all I care (they can stop at a parkway ahead to regroup), I passed anyway and they all flipped their shit.
This is why everyone hates cruisers.

Standard/naked unless you plan on burning a lot of highway miles (like 400+ mile/day)

Striple, Shivvy, or fz8?
FZ and Shiv are way cheaper at 4-5k, while striple is 7k. Not sure I can afford striple, would it be worth that much extra cash?

>that windshield

>bike is a failing piece of shit
>not going to have it for much longer (2 months at most)

Is it worth fixing it? It's a fuel injection/electrics problem so I can't do it myself.
>>
>>16911002
Striple>shivvy>FZ8

Though with that kind of price difference I'd go shivvy assuming they are similar miles/condition.

Thing is I have a Yamaha jacket
Any other bikes worth looking at in the middle weight naked category?
I have looked at fz09's but I hear too much shit about the throttle and suspension that im not sure I want one

Naked, you can always add accessories for luggage or wind protection.

The fuck are you doing with your bikes in a city? Carrying them?

Monsters and depending on the market where you are, Duke 990, skip the Jap bikes, euros are more fun.

Quick question about quickshifters and older FI bikes: Ignition-cut to unload gearbox when upshifting is simple and easy to understand and retrofit, but how (if at all) can autoblipping be added to a bike that does not have a ride-by-wire throttle?

I thought about it, but I hear maintenance is a pain

I don't hate cruisers. Why are you so upset about a group ride acting like a group? Are you a no-bike or something?
>>
are teknic leathers good?

>>16911070
You just commented my post where I explicitly said I was riding.

So you're a nigger just like those cruiserfags who think they own the road just because their a "group"? If they have the stop sign I won't yeld because of their inflated egos.

I wish I had recorded them, I had the camera off.

How the hell can you sit comfortably in bike with a seat this high and handles that low?

I didn't read anything where you said you were on a bike.

Wow these cruiser riders having a nice time really triggered you, huh?
>>
>>16911049
You look like a fuckin faggot
>>
>>16911049
Looks clean. Low milage.

Cases and Zumo do add value, but what Zumo is it?

Doesn't look too bad.
>>
>>16911049
Holy shit is that you in the profile pic? Fucking lol
>>
>>16911125
I don't give a fuck about what they're doing or the "fun" they have. If I have a stop I'll always yeld, why can't they? If I can go I'll always go, even if there's some douchebag on a cruiser in the middle of the road.

A DRZ400SM is just a duel sport with different wheel/tire combo and different front forks.

A DRZ400 with 17" wheeels and DS tires is probably just as good a DS as a DR650 with DS tires.
