Its a weak battery.
Which could be caused by a dying battery or a weak alternator that's not charging well.
Like other anon said, it could be any of 6 gorillion things, but those are by far the 2 most common causes.

Recently fixed a starter+battery issue on ma VW.
Feels good I can finally drive it properly thinking about getting some coilovers soon

Good luck in fixing it, consider changing the battery or swaping one for testing from your friend or mom.

How much did it cost you to fix it? Seems like a cheap fix from what I can remember

I fixed it myself
$2 bearing
$60 starter motor fix at a shop
Used battery that I got $15

I honestly don't think I had to replace anything on the starter but now it starts like a dream.
