does /o/ have any tips for staying in the middle of the lane i'm in. i'm a new driver, only been driving for about a month. The car i have to drive is my dads 2013 Ford Explorer and that motherfucker is wide so i'm always feeling like i'm swerving too far or too close to a lane next to me
Tips?????

Remember that lanes are way bigger than you think. I just try to remember that I'm on top of the front left wheel, and I basically have a point visualized on the left of the windshield that the lane markers should pass though as I drive to ensure that I'm right in the middle of my lane. Idk how to explain that any clearer, but yeah.

good tip. it's mainly when on rougher roads where i have to make minor corrections and feels like sometimes i "overcorrect" then am prob too close to other lanes

no i understand, again i've only been on the road for a very limited amount of time and don't necessarily know the car as well and the "boundaries" you could say

do you know your turn geometry? the inside wheel is the one actually turning, the outside wheel is actually moving faster in a wider arc to keep up.
when you turn, everything on the outside slides to keep up. even the rear. the tires even deform a bit like a microskid. you wouldn't notice if you watched it with the naked eye.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ackermann_steering_geometry
with proper turning you will lock your wheelcomfortably in a turn, using your cars own inertia to stabilize it.

I used to take note of where the road lines would disappear below the windshield. Figure out where you are center in the lane, look at where the line intersects the bottom of your view, and try to keep it there. Eventually you just get a feel for it and don't need it to judge your spacing anymore.

yeah now i just look at a vague "forward" point and watch the roads bend into my space.
