It's a dirt bike, that shit was never street legal.
Depending on what state you live in it could be done, like in Utah or Colorado, but most placed I'd guess no.
You can make anything street legal, but it would cost you more than the bike.

Hey, has anyone here ever imported a motorcycle into the US? I'm looking for advice on bringing one in from Europe; in particular an Aprilia Tuono 125.

I'm thinking it shouldn't be too hard, I mean the Euro 4 requirements are more stringent for motorcycle than the EPA ones, and the chassis is basically a scale replica of the Tuono v4 which is already sold in the US.

For the adventure and challenge obviously.

yuros I have questions for you -
how many of you are riding bikes which are over the power limit for your licence? I have a friend who has her a2 but rides an sv650 without the restrictor fitted. Apparently the brit police dont have roadside dyno's for bikes larger than a scooter so they only way they'd be able to confirm the bike was unrestricted would be if you crashed & they impounded it (and it was in good enough condition post crash) & dyno it there.

Experiences, anecdotal evidence? contribute pls

I used to ride one, as long as you don't ride like an idiot they don't care.
Here they check the license plate, which tells them if it is restricted or not, but they only do it when you're already stop, either because of your horrific riding or a general highway control action.

Who cares if he can drag knee or not. Here in America we aren't cucked by some dbag we don't even know telling us what bike we can or can't handle. The bike will go as fast as you tell it to go.

Whether it's a good thing or a bad thing, alot of sport bike riders in the USA get super sports because that's the bike they want to ride and that's the bike they want to own. What's the difference between a shitty rider on a 250 and a shitty rider on a 600? It's crazy how much europeans stereotype super sport bikes because they aren't allowed to have them. See a shitty rider on a 250 and he is a learner and it's no prob. See a shitty rider on a 600 and omg he is a squid and a poser and then comes the list of things you could do better than him on his own bike as if it matters. People should own the bike they want to own. Euros get cucked by some dick telling them they are too shit of a rider to handle a supersport so in turn they come to dbt to try to tell Americans they are too shit of a rider to handle a super sport. It's just a motorcycle, once you figure out the power (just like any bike ever) it becomes more predictable and easy to ride.

As long as the papers say it's restricted, they have no way of telling.

Then again my friend rode an unrestricted CBR600RR for 2 years on A2 and got some speeding tickets, but nobody called her out on the bike. At most the cops admired the bike or thanked her for not trying to run.

As long as that rider can manage to not kill himself or anyone else why does it matter. We all want to be good enough riders to not die, but not everyone is concerned with being the next moto gp racer. People just want to go out and ride the bike that they wanna ride that they bought with their hard earned money, and they want to have a good time doing so, nothing wrong with that.

There's arguments on both sides. Sure you're less likely to get hurt on a 250 or whatever but the chance of getting injured is real no matter what bike you ride why bother risking it and riding at all if it's not going to be on a bike you like?

Just seems a bit like jealousy when all the eurofags start hollerin at someone for starting on a super sport when we all know they want to ride one and can't. Like how are you gunna start telling someone what they are doing is dangerous if you've never even ridden the bike you're criticizing? Just an observation it's not all that surprising that europeans act so foolish

American here I don't know your silly metrics but that doesn't seem like too much unless it's been winter shitty roads or something. I put on 15-20k miles my first year of riding and there's still loads of progress to be made, there always will be. Let's say the limit to ride is 20 but you can ride less powerful bikes at 16 and 18. Do you like it better put it like this?

Regs don't work like you think they should work.

If really want the thing, you could have it taken apart and shipped as separate crates at different dates.

Then you need a title. Title services many help. Use the internet. This is not a title service forum.

You don't have a reason to want such a little motorcycle except autism which is certainly valid.

If you do, stop posting here and fucking go to fucking brand specific forums then use those to contact a Euro dealer and see what they'll charge to send the parts separately. Say it's for racing.

This is not an Aprilia forum. Does this look like an Aprilia forum? You just got useful help, now use it.

Total cuckery. Oh you don't like all these rules? Then Too bad don't ride at all.

Bottom line is that the rider will only hurt themselves. If a 250 and a 600 crash into a car, assuming they are doing the speed limit, they difference between damage for the two crashes is negligible.

I stripped it with a standard Phillips, stripped it even worse with some JIS bits, and then used one of the JIS bits as an improvised tap. Plus, like you said, the hammering probably helped.

It can be. I just sold a shadow for 1600 that I had spent 750 on, after all parts and buying the bike. That being said, I probably out 20 hours into working on this thing and it was a pain in the ass to make it work.

>what did u have to do to the bike
90 percent of the time, when it ran when parked, you need to clean the carburetors, occasionally replace all the rubber fuel lines, usually new battery, and other stuff. I also had to re-bleed the brakes and rebuild the clutch master cylinder.

>have u ever fixed a completely fucked bike some guy was selling on craigs for cheap
Define fucked. I won't touch anything that "was running but then the engine seized" but if it's just been parked for 5 to 20 years, you'll be fine. They are really simple to get working and are cheap to repair

>what dirtbike would u recommend as first bike
Pretty much anything from the 80s or 90s. If you want to ride on the road, pretty much any Japanese 80s road bike that has less than 750cc is a good idea.

>how long it take u to sell bike on average
A week or so. Study Craigslist, and watch what moves quick and how to write a good ad. The bike I posted was actually not that good looking but a decent picture makes a huge difference.

I picked this up for 800 dollars, put about 100 into it and rode it all over the West coast. I think I did about 12k miles in 10 months

>What will you say that single time a kid crashes his supersport into your family?

Going by that logic all cars should be banned because they do more damage than a relatively light motorcycle. Your emotion-driven risk assessment isn't supported by statistics of US vehicle accidents.

Emotions are for women and traps. Which are you?

Naturally I look for info. I was a MSF Experienced Rider Course instructor for several years and advocate VOLUNTARY training (the government doesn't own my or your head) and found this interesting:

"Individuals with formal motorcycle training are estimated to have higher underlying crash rates
than others without training. While one may expect crash rates to fall with formal training,
ceteris paribus, those who seek out training may have fewer skills to begin with or past crash
involvement experiences. Of the riders who reported having received training and being
involved in at least one motorcycle crash, four reported having received their last training at least
9 one year before the crash, three reported receiving training the same year as the crash (though in
one individual’s case it was his first year riding), and the final rider did not report the training
year. This suggests that at least two (and possibly three) of the riders likely received training just
after their motorcycle crash. Daniello et al.’s (2010) literature review on training courses also
shows mixed results for crash-rate reductions. "

http://www.caee.utexas.edu/prof/kockelman/public_html/TRB13MC_Crashes.pdf

http://www.iii.org/issue-update/motorcycle-crashes

I live in a country of over three hundred million people. The odds of one of a few thousand fatal crashes by motorcyclists impinging on any driver I know is microscopic. I've been riding since 1978 (before training was a thing) and only known six bikers who managed to sustain serious injury and one fatality. One hit a kamikaze deer, two (including the fatal) struck by a car.

This. Best way is open the state Craigslist, then open cities/regions in tabs.

State, note the two letter SC suffix, because the fast way to bang thru states is open a state tab then copy/paste that in another tab and change the state suffix for adjacent states. Also good use for a bookmarks toolbar.
