Assuming space is of no concern, is there any reason to prefer an NA engine over a supercharged engine?
Fuel efficiency. Not everyone buys a car for performance purposes.

Simplicity. Less parts to fail and less maintenance
performance purposes
compressors of any kind don't let you hit your top speed unless conditions are right to boost. In a race, this means you lose, faggot. your car is cucked.

Aren't charged engines more fuel efficient for the most part?
>>16853427
No. A supercharger is hooked up to a belt and has parasitic drag on the engine. Turbo charged engines can get almost the same mpgs in low rpms with no boost, modern superchargers are usually pretty good with no boost. But in the real world, it's almost impossible to achieve good mpg with forced induction, you bought forced induction for power didn't you?

>parasitic drag on the engine
There people go again, spouting off this bullshit meme.
Spoiler: Turbos also have parasitic drag because having the turbine in the way of the exhaust gases increases the air pressure between the exhaust port and the turbo. Since the mechanic which forces the burned gases out of the cylinder is pressure differentiation, less exhaust leaves the cylinder because the difference in pressures inside the cylinder and just outside it are not as large as they would be without the turbo. More exhaust remaining in the cylinder hurts power by reducing the amount of usable air in the cylinder during the next ignition.
None of this fucking matters if the end result is a significant net gain in power. No one has ever properly installed forced induction and lost power.
Now, about fuel economy, forced induction increases the fuel efficiency in relation to the amount of power it produces, but does not improve efficiency overall.
Engines which are fuel efficient that have forced induction are fuel efficient because they have lower displacements than NA engines which would produce similar power.
You will not increase fuel efficiency by adding a turbo or super charger to an existing engine.

fuck off faggot no one even mentioned a turbo

kys then read the thread
