Bought a used CR-V for my wife that had an almost new Walmart Explode Sony in it It sounded like a muffled tin can. It was so bad, I honestly thought the speakers were blown.

Speakers were fine, it was just the "quality" of the deck. I replaced it with an old school Alpine I had laying around, and it utterly transformed the sound. It was so dramatic, the wife asked me if I changed the speakers, too.

I literally just installed the Pioneer MVH-X390BT. I have a Moto X android with spotify. I connect the usb and may spotify stats playing the second I push the play button.

What I hate is it doesnt display the artist and song title on the head unit when running off spotify.

I live in a bad part of town where peoples car get broken into a lot.

Some newer OE radios that look stock have MP3 and aux capabilities. Get one for dirt cheap at a junkyard, solder up a harness and go right?

I just checked. MCR 1016 BT is discontinued officially. MCR 1116 BT is designed for smartphone connectivity (some iPhone/Android specific features?) and also has a worldwide tuner for AM/FM.

Retains most of the matte finish which is nice. Display is now glossy though which could be bad if you're bothered by those things.

Just make a new faceplate in clear acrylic with the same layout, paint it black and make the button engravings using the laser cutter in raster mode. you're supposed to do it the other way round, mod the dashboard to match the head unit
