Picked up a 97 LX Sedan 5spd Y7 off a friend that wouldn't run, got it running a couple days later. Not sure what i want to do with it. It's missing mirrors & back bumper and a little rusty but for 300$ not bad. Want to get into a motorsport but idk if this is the car i want to do it in. Was going to autocross my integra this year but i'm liking the idea of stripping the cheap car and doing whatever i want to it more. Already have tokico Illuminas & 315r/380f GC's for the integra but can always adapt them to the Civic. I am also interested in other motorsport but that seems to be the most accessible/economical.
>>

You should dd the integra and make the civic into a full race car mode.

>>
>>16846238
Its hard for me I'd have to keep the integra stock because I'll be going to a theft prone area for college soon and it also pains me to drive it in the harsh weather but I'd regret selling it because its the best car I've ever owned. Having 4 cars at 19 would be a bit excessive though lmao I have a project camaro aswell but its more of a weekend cruiser to me.
>>16846329
I've looked at nearly every lowish cost option i can think of I believe, go carts (not actually as cheap as they seem obviously) compacts (too far to drive to a track plus trailer cost),drag racing (also not low budget),I can't think of anything else off the top of my head.

Could I fit a large upright bass in a civic or accord?
>>

Depends.
Hatchback? Sedan with rears down to open trunk and passenger seat forward or folded back?
Mount on roof?
>>
>>16847653
Depends on the height, also depends on the generation of the accord or civic. You'd have to look up trunk dimensions. I'd recommend 2008-2012 Accord sedan (8th gen) since they're the biggest Accord ever made.

Immediate feedback and response are the cornerstones of my winter driving. There's no way I'd be able to control my moms 12 matrix the way I can my car. My aunt praises the softness of electric power steering but I personally find hydraulic to be softer all around.
>>

>>16847987
I'll probably stick to older cars for a long time. The responsiveness of my EG is just too good to give up. Even after driving a 9th gen I still enjoy it more.

No power steering at all but that's only because the car is so light. The SC400 I daily'd a long time ago weighed 3600lbs with broken power steering and it really fucking needed power steering.

Got a full set of Timken wheel bearings and hubs for free; thanks local Timken rep.

Also, the '84 is surging bad at high RPM or driving uphill. I'm trying to figure out what to change. It free revs fine, so I know it's not ignition related, but fuel.

I'm trying to figure out what to change/fix.

I don't agree that it will be noticeable.

For the almost $2000 he's going to spend between hondata and the I/H/E (not to mention the additional cost of getting it tuned) he's going to maybe pick up 20 horsepower.

His butt dyno isn't that sensitive (maybe yours is but his is not, I guarantee it)

If you're going to pay someone to tune it, you may as well spend it on cams first. Worst case scenario you replace the I/H/E later. If you want to, you can tune the AFR yourself after changing I/H/E since itll be running leaner than stock, and you really wont need to play with the timing

What's the difference quality wise between Hondata and Crome? And I feel like it's worth mentioning I'm not expecting even 20 HP gain at the end of this, it's more about giving my car some well deserved shiny new bits than anything, and I unfortunately am not satisfied with purely aesthetic mods.

Crome is considered outdated by community standards but works perfectly fine for what you'd be doing. If you wanted to start getting into tricky stuff (boost by gear for instance) it's worth it to spring for hondata. Also the user interface and connectivity is better for hondata

If you are staying N/A then it really is just a question of how much you want to spend.

I understand that you aren't after huge performance increase, but regardless of what choice you go with, you'll want to tune it somehow. If you run less restriction, it will run a LOT leaner
>>
>>16850838
Oh yeah I wasn't implying I wasn't going to tune it, I was just making it clear that I'm not expecting this to really increase my cars performance noticably
I do plan on staying N/A until I can wrap my head around all the variables and math I have to do to calculate boost, I already expect I'll have to later on if I want to hit my 280 WHP streetable goal. I'll look into Crome, thanks for the response
>>
>>16850874

if you want 280 whp get a gt28r or similar turbo and run 7-11 psi

Also if you are going turbo maybe reconsider paying for headers since those will go into the trash

If you need more info on crome etc and you arent finding it feel free to ask.

The 2013 ILX looks very handsome and classy but has a lackluster 2.0 engine producing 150hp with a 10:6:1 compression ratio, which Acura recommends using premium gas which is bullshit.

The 2016s have the Civic Si engine and a god tier 8 speed dual clutch with a torque converter, but the exterior looks like some edgy transformers garbage.

What the fuck Acura

Man for a while I saw a Papa John's driver driving a Ford Excursion. I could only imagine how much he was spending in gas every day. Now I think they have a Ram truck. There's also somebody driving this in this color. I'm happy that bright colors that stand out are coming back. Tired of these boring colors. It's bad that my red car stands out even though that used to be a somewhat common color.

I'm always up for deliveries at all times. It's why I make more money than most other drivers.

Do they pay you by the mile over there? I get 24 cents a mile which is pure profit. Car only spends like 6 cents a mile in gas.
>>
>>16854314
That green is awesome. No we get 1 dollar flat rate for each order we deliver. I wish it was like yours pay by mile. I used the shit out of my phone's GPS today. I made a cheap ass phone mount the other day after looking in stores and Amazon for them. I just put Velcro on my dash and on my phone kek. Works perfect
>>
>>16854360
Yeah mileage pay is GOAT. You seem to get pretty good tips though so that should make up for it. When I worked at Marco's for like 3 weeks they did the dollar per delivery thing but their range was literally twice the size of Pizza Hut's. No money to be made at all.

I know of another PH that has just a single wage for drivers. Mine has two wages.

Because honda wanted Americans to associate acura cars with the acura brand rather than the car itself.which is why we got the tlx, etc.

I kinda hate it honestly.

Picked this up today from local stealrship. Suprisingly well modified and clean af 05. 140k w, full i/h/e all high dollar parts and was tuned beautifully, honestly it only needs some good coils to replace the tein springs and some wheels with some great rubber. It was only 4500 and between all the goodies it at and considering it ran so smooth ide say i did pretty well.

So im the 98 civic hatch guy that recently RIP'd, here's the new hatch that I mentioned I bought. this one actually has a y8, and the previous owner put about 10k into it which its churning out 141hp with dyno sheets. im so fucking hype

Hey guys so I just did a bottom end rebuild on my d16z6 out of my sol. Its got 230,000 and way just burning oil so me and a buddy rebuilt it.
Everything's don't perfect and we got the car running fine, but within the first week of easy driving the head gasket blew, so we replaced it and then it blew again..

Idk what to do now you guys any suggestions??

I did machine my head but not the block, but I never overheated the car at all so I dont think it could be warped.

At this point were just gonna go over everything one more time and get a new hg and try one more time trying to be even more percises.. Any help or post I've vibes would be appreciated!

Machine both head and block. Make sure the torque specs are correct too. Have you been checking oil and coolant levels while driving it? Is the temp gauge working accurately?

Yes, every gauge is working fine. We even replaced all the sensors because we didn't think it was a hg at first. We torqued the blots correctly I believe but the one thing we didn't do was lobe the bolt :/ you think that'll help?

Its the tiniest head gasket leak.. Like the cylinder walls were barely leaking..

Yes we did the right torque pattern and we did step1 23lb and step2 53lb. My car ran completely fine, but if I drove it for more then like 40 miles or let it idle to long the coolant reservoir tank would get over pressurized and coolant would leak out.. We could never fully get air out of the system when burping it either

Allow me to elaborate: During my program at toyota i had to deal with shit worse than this on matrix models because the handbrake and brake pedal both acted on the one piston. What would happen is that as dirt accumulated in the hardware and the pin lubrication got old, the pads would stick onto the rotor and not release. This was made worse as the parking brake would press the pad into the rotor, and perhaps the position of the piston, would cause it to grind at an angle, wearing just a fraction of the pad material and then directly onto the metal.
The only remedy I find is every season full brake service.
