>2 brand new lower ball joints, mid tier NAPA brand
>both break within 2 months
>first gen Tundra

what could be causing this?
>>
>>16815439
Frame damage, shitty alignment, shitty roads.
>>
>>16815439
>Tundra
There's your problem. Buy a truck that was designed to be used and abused, not a truck designed in an attempt to show you that Toyota can build American trucks.
>>
>>16815439
Should've spent the extra couple sheckles for Moog.
>>
>>16815439

a japanese ram

seriously look at em their even made for smaller stature guys
>>

"CHYNA"
>>
>>16815439
this is a known problem in tundras, there was even a recall. the ball joints are just shit and wear out excessively fast.
>>
>>16815439

Improper installation or frame damage
>>
>>16815439
its simple OP. use some jap-factory parts.
>>
Yeah, as said already, first gen Tundras are a mess. Buy OEM in this case.

I work for an aftermarket chassis company, and everybody (including MOOG) is made in China now.
>>
>>16815864
Moog is made in many countries. Ordered two Moog control arms and they were made in the USA
>>
>>16815439
>mid tier NAPA brand
only use toyota dealer ball joints
>>
>>16815748
that's why they made the 2nd gen so much bigger, so American's can get their fat asses in them
>>
>>16815864
>first gen Tundras are a mess.
lol...only if you live in a shitty salted road state
>>
Are they pre-greased or greasable?

Wheel offset, SAI angle, what condition are the other parts?
>>
>>16815917
I ordered two moog ball joints, they were made in greece. One was screwed up.

Napa premium parts should be excellent.
>>
>>16815439

You are probably driving a Tundra that has been "repaired" after a major accident. i.e. the frame is misaligned but no so much to it be visible to the eye
>>
>>16815439

Is this you OP?

Cheap chinese shit.

Happend to me a few years ago. Only got 3-4 months on them before the ball joints were loose and knocking.
Glad I caught it when I did could have ended bad.

Replaced them with Moog ball joints and its been 5 years no problemo.

What do your front tires look like? Choppy on the edges?

Ever get an alignment after replacing these?

Always get moog or whatever you hear is best on the forums for it.
>>
>>16819970
They do this shit in California too. They call it a Cali Lift.
>>
Buy a truck with a real HD front end suspension, like a twin-I beam or solid axle

not some shitty car suspension

This, basically.

On gen 1 Tundra/Sequoia and 1g Tacoma/3g 4Runner, they all have the same basic double wishbone IFS design that puts the lower balljoint on a "pull apart" tension. Worn joints will not make themselves known as a result, no rattling before they let go most times. Consensus is to stick with OEM made in Japan replacement LBJs and you'll be in the clear.

I did mine pre-emptively at 135k due to all the fear-mongering on yota forums, mine were still perfectly tight actually (kept old ones as trail spares).
>>
>>16815748
Not suggesting they're good trucks, but they're designed and built in US.
>>
>>16815439
>Original Toyota part lasted 10-15 years
>Clearly OEM part is high quality
>Replace with cheap chinese garbage instead of the part that's proven to last 15 years
>Wonders why it doesn't last worth a shit
