3rd Generation Honda Prelude with a Xenon bodykit. they were built from 1987 to 1991. It's most likely the 90-91 facelifted version because it's easier to swap an 88-89 bumper onto the 90-91 than to swap the 90s taillights onto the pre-facelift version.

The 1988-1989 Prelude is more reliable in my opinion than the 1990-1991 due to not having FRM sleeves. Stick to a manual fuel injected model and you'll be fine.

How much would you feasibly pay for a good honda crx?

I've done some searching and query driving for a bit I think a crx would be a cool car to use as my DD, grocery getter, you know.

"Clean" ones near me are pushing 3-4k, the sub 2k ones are nigh undrivable. Just keep looking? Where besides Craigslist and Facebook can I check?

How much money do you want to spend on an engine and tranny?

If you aren't wanting to spend a lot on a CRX to begin with, are you going to want to spend 1700-1800 on a B series swap?

The Si motor/tranny is 'relatively' quick in the 2nd gen CRX's, don't know if you'd want to swap for a different D series.

If you have any specific questions I can answer them

I'm back with an update for 1st Gen Honda Fit owners who are having problems with their rear hatch. This is on my 2007 Fit Sport CDN auto

So the rusted exterior handle was part of the problem but the lock actuator seems to also be the problem as it doesn't seem to be able to go through its full range of motion.

So this is the bullshit fix. I used a rat tail file to allow the white plastic actuator arm to slide easier and found a spring to help it. After this I'm biting the bullet and buying the new one as I'm 5 hours in of my valuable $22/hour wage but I hope this helps other owners

This is with the actuator in the lock position. Note even with the top helper spring attached to the lock release lever, it won't move without the actuator set to unlocked. I was lucky and found some spring that isn't too strong and dorsnt pull the lever into the lock position.

Asked elsewhere before but might be able to get a better opinion here. Sorry for the wall of text, trying to get more into cars but I'm still learning.

I'm looking to get a new daily car and fell for the way the early 90s Accords look, I saw a couple 92s for sale nearby and a 93, I guess my questions are would it be okay as a daily driver in 2017, and which should I go for

The first is an EX at just under 70 000km, which leads me to believe it might have been sitting at some point or was only driven at certain times of year (Canada, so its possible they were worried about salt maybe?) its at around 2.5k As-Is

the next is another sitting at 190 000km, EXR, at just over 1700$ As-Is, looks pretty nice and clean, talked to the guy selling it as it wasn't up as is before at a higher price and he seems really pushy to get rid of it, so there might be something up with it.

Last ones a 93 SE at 250 000km, and the entire hood has rust problems, even still its being sold as having its safety and is at just over 2200$, this ones the one I'm personally least interested in due to that rust.

If I were going for one which would you recommend checking out? Are there any other Hondas that have a similar style to them that you might recommend instead?

Pic related in a Z that I see all the time in my town. I would never make my car that low but I can appreciate the work he puts into it. It's super impressive.

A lot of the cars in my area are lowered just enough to be driveable on New Orleans roads. They're pretty bad and even my car, which isn't very low, scrapes on some things there.

Even pressing the unlock multiple times the rusted exterior handle and actuator doesn't allow the internal parts to move so you couldn't open the hatch without going through the interior panel access hole and manually moving the lock release lever.

Honestly I've only had the car 6 months but I love the too death and recommend it to anyone as pic is an 08 sport and I swear it had a minor oil seepage on a original engine and trans. Also there was no warming lights on the pic the ignition is just on

Yep, have to agree on the visibility, I think this car should do nicely for what I need. Plus a few dents and scratches. Id take pics but Im hungover and its raining outside

checked out the EX, its rusted to fuck around the wheel wells, guy selling the EXR called me saying he'll lower to 1500, but I'd need to buy it by Thursday. He seems to be getting really sketchy about the whole thing, being both hesitant about test drive and putting it up on a hoist at a shop to see what it needs for safety even though its at my expense, I said I'll take a look tomorrow but I'm not sure really.

What should I be looking out for on it? It doesn't seem to have rust from the pictures, but I also don't want to end up with something thats gonna have brakes or the engine go in 20 000km or something stupid and he's making me a little antsy calling out of no where and lowering it for no reason.

Bounce every corner of the good to see if they're tight and not bouncing all over the place, open the oil cap while running and make sure it isn't puffing really hard, meaning it's worn, grab each wheel and make sure it isn't jiggly, like a bad shock or ball joint, and make sure it doesn't misfire when you step on the gas, signifying a bad distributor or some other problem.

Ball joints are my least favorite thing out of all the shit I've worked on so far. They're the fucking devil. Between spinning with the nut, getting stuck to the hub, and the threads falling apart if I look at them wrong, it makes me want to kill myself.

Hi /hg/,

Recently took my '01 civic into the mechanic for an inspection before a long road trip. The SRS light was on in the dashboard before I took it in, but I didn't mention to them.

When I got the car back, the SRS light was still on but they didn't say anything about it, which makes me skeptical about the quality of their "40 point" inspection. Surely an OBD monitor would have caught this issue.

Check the brake pedal for wear marks, that's how you can tell. highway miles save on brakes, but a well maintained car that's been driven in the city can still be a good buy.

>>
>>16822464
I mean I -feel- fast and I know hitting some of the backroads in my area at 50+ is something not many other people can maintain, but on video it just look so sluggish.
And yeah. I actually turned around and moved it out of the road, it wouldn't have even fit under my car, i'd have been fucked.
>>
>>16822474
Yeah I would have moved it too. My conscience would be going crazy thinking somebody later on would hit it and blow a tire or something.

I get your point, though. Looking through my footage it looks much slower than it actually is.

>tfw wish I could go that fast comfortably
>tfw too nervous about fucking up on a random gash in the road
>>
>>16822675
If it wasn't 1AM I would have been more hesitant for sure. I thought about going fast on one of the backroads near the swamps but shortly after I saw a fucking big ass boar in the road. Fucker stood higher than my hood so if I did go fast my car would have been pulverized. I was on nice summer tires in that video too. Now I'm on Chinese tires that are half the price.
>>
>>16822702
My main concern is my tires are nearing the end of their life and see a lot of rough pavement due to pizza delivery on a shitty side of town, plus my suspension isn't the best so it's really bouncy.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gjktMbLEeuw&feature=youtu.be
Vid related, civic sedan kept trying to stoplight pull (I don't like that) and then tried to follow me down the backroad.
>>
>>16822334
I got the 300mm one, and it's super fuckin' huge.
All it's really done so far is make it extra annoying when someone is driving behind me at night.
That said, I still kinda like it. M-muh jay dee em.
>>
>>16822710
Ooh yeah pizza delivery is why I'm on Chinese tires now. The summer tires were like $65 each and would wear down really fast. Was not a fan of spending that much money in less than a year's worth of driving. I'm surprised I don't attract a lot of attention from people wanting to race. I don't like to thrash my car much so I rarely go hard on it.

>>16822717
Does the little flip switch still work on the bottom of the stock mirror? That's what I do when I get blinded. Dunno if it would still work with that new one attached to it.
>>
what are the chances of s2000 prices skyrocketing once the "successor" is announced/released?
>>

Probably high because the succesor would have some lame ass infotainment setup like all the new shit and it just wouldn't be that raw, barebones car with 240hp that we want.
>>
>>16822730
I mean I live in the outer suburbs of Dallas so there's very easily a million people within 50 miles of me, it's great for learning about cars and meeting people, not so great for finding late-night backroads that aren't swarming with sheriffs unless you want to travel 45+ minutes out.
Plus muh integra reputation.

Stretching the sidewall of a tire onto a rim that is over an inch wider than its intended size is dangerous for the installer, dangerous to the carcass plies that make up the sidewall and most importantly dangerous to other people because your obsession with form over function and arrogance could kill someone when your tires blow out. That's not an "if" it's a when. Morons like stancefags combo this comprised tire to a suspension setup that has no performance value whatsoever and at highway speeds is again dangerous. Yes a little negative camber is good but when going at even 130 km/h there's so much downforce from the air that the small contact patch of rubber where each tire touches the ground when stationary, is now significantly smaller as the air forces the suspension to travel and become more negative. No traction=no control= no sense.
>>
>>16821205
They wrote it down but didn't mention because obviously you see it everyday and have no desire to pay to fix it. What you paid for was a visual inspection. Why would the mechanic take his time to inspect and or diagnose an airbag issue if your not going to pay him to diagnose or fix the issue. If you mentioned or casually asked for the ballpark price to fix the issue I personally will take the extra 5 or 10 mins to see what the issue is. Everytime I do an oil change on a shitbox I'll start the car, write down every light I see on the dash i.e. ABS Traction Control EPS whatever and as I have the car up in the air and I see the D/F ABS sensor connector is unplugged and zipped tied to the knuckle. Obviously it's been this way for a while and I'm not going to waste my time, the parts guys time and the service advisors time trying to sell you something you won't pay to fix.
