how do i get type r performance without type r looks?
i posted a thread the other day about wanting to buy a civic to modify and track, and a few people told me to wait for the performance model, but the performance model looks like crap. what to do?

The numbers aren't even good lmao, why would anyone buy a type r over an si? They're the same motor with different tuning.

The Si is a 1.5L. are you trying to be retarded?

What did he mean by this?

This is unrelated but your vocabulary is stellar; I haven't heard somnolent used to describe a car before and it was actually quite refreshing.

depends on the Civic model you want. With the new one, there isn't much available aftermarket-wise so you'd have to dump a whole shitload into it.
If you choose the FA5/FG2, there isn't much to do to it, provided you start with an American SI model. An ecu tune, suspension and brake upgrades will get you to FD2 Type R performance.
US market 8th gen FA5 Civic Si's are actually the closest thing Murika got to an official Type R. Certainly closer than the FN2 hatchback the Europeans got. The FD2 front and rear ends pretty much interchange with the American Civic Si's. The engine isn't much different either. The head, block and bottom end are the same, though I believe the JDM engine either used different camshafts or more aggressive ECU tuning. And of course, the JDM FD2 got more focus suspension and front brakes than the USDM FA5. But again, closest thing we ever got.
Honestly, I have no problem with people sticking Type R badges on otherwise stock US market FA5 or FG2 Civic Si's. But that's the only model I feel that way about.

the big plastic honeycomb piece
the designers obviously designed it to be open, but engineers said no and now we have a big plastic piece with only 1/4 it being an actual intake grill
doesn't really bother me though
