Redpill me on Cadillac. Are they as good as BMW and Porsche and other luxery brands?
>>
>>16797960
No, but I still like them anyway.

t. wigger
>>
>>16797960
Better than a Porsche, cheaper to repair than a BMW, less expensive than a Mercedes for a comparable level of features.

Lately, they've made a name for themselves for having, at their top trim levels, the best handling "luxury" cars. Interior-wise, they're still not on the level of Germans in offering luxury interiors, but they don't charge out the ass for things that should be standard like Germans do.

OK but nobody has actually posted anything of substance here. Just memes. I need the real answer about this brand I may buy a CTS. Are they sporty?

The CTS-V is sporty. The CTS is not.

you want a lux barge?

I was thinking of getting a 986 or a 135i BMW but a family member is selling a 07 CTS for a great price so I'm considering it but I'm looking to have fun driving it daily.

Cadillac seems like it finally rebuilt itself into a nice brand but idk if a CTS is what I'm looking for.

I have a family member who works at GM and they give a family discount if you buy GM.

How does that make it more suited to a city? You'd still need something smaller to be logically fit for that purpose.

You're wrong.

These people just overspend to pretend. I know like 3 laquishas that have 90,000 loans from switching escalades every 3 years yet they live in shitholes.

Even more common are the Jamals with 10 year old mercs or rusted 300c's that they can't afford to maintain.

At least the Joses buy poopras or Hondas. They may rice them to shit but I guarantee you they at least know what they're talking about.

t. works non profit in a city
>>
>>16800807
Bling is a lifestyle unique to the ghetto. How can they even maintain the interest on their loans?
>>

First generation CUE interface, Cadiallac's touch-screen interface, is a real shit. It's really slow and buggy and a pain to navigate. It's literally the Gizmondo of touch-screen interfaces.

>no regular V8
>just a stupidly high powered supercharged V8 and a plethora of weak V6s
What the fuck were they thinking?
>>
>>16801832
You can't have a naturally-aspirated V8 in the Land of the Free anymore. Environmental regulations coupled with a lack of GM research dollars means that existing V8 engines simply release too much NO2 and methane into the air for catalytic converters to scrub clean, hastening the death of Mother Gaia.
>>
>>16801938
But how can a supercharged v8 be less polluting?
>>
>>16801964
Because it's more efficient. It burns the fuel it uses at much higher temperatures in smaller quantities, meaning that gallon for gallon it drives longer and uses less gas which means fewer pollutants over the lifetime of the car.

Really though, this whole climate change nonsense is all about trying to make us European and socialist.
>>
>>16797960

>>
Let's not get carried away here.

1) Caddy is not even targeting Porsche with any part of its product line.
2) Porsche has seriously done fucked up by diluting their brand with SUVs and 4 doors. Sure, revenue may be higher, but the brand's purity took a hit. Your opinion may differ, but this one is mine.
4) Styling-- Euro is Euro and American is American... pick the one you like and get over it the other. At least Cadillac is not making stuff that looks like everyone else's stuff.
5) The CTS-V is capable of some pretty serious numbers-- 640hp/630ftlbs,15.4" / 14.4" rotors f/r, 0-60 in 3.8s, 1/4 mile in 11.8s, .98G. At VIR, well...
>In our all-time LL rankings, the CTS-V’s lap slots 0.9 second behind the 2011 911 GT3 RS and 0.6 quicker than the ’06 Dodge Viper SRT10. (http://www.caranddriver.com/features/cadillac-cts-v-at-lightning-lap-2015-feature)

<- If the V and V Sport cars are not "sports cars", they are certainly hanging with some legitimate company.

That's literally just marketing. Why get upset about it? The 911 is still a 911 and the Boxster and Cayman are unchallenged in their segment. What the hell does the existence of the Cayenne have to do with the sports cars besides funding development?

>What the hell does the existence of the Cayenne have to do with the sports cars besides funding development?

Porsche makes great sports cars for sure-- no argument. Adding mom-mobiles seems as desperate a grab for sales volume as a fwd Benz, Jag SUV or, say a 4-door Porsche.

What's the problem with just doing what you are good at and letting the others do mommy cars.

why can't murrican companies design a decent interior?
>>
>>16807953
The materials themselves are nice and soft everywhere. It's the ergonomics of trying to use capacitive buttons while looking at the road along with the horrible CUE system. Modern Cadillacs are performance luxury and not luxury performance.
>>
>>16801821

They can't. That's why even rims get repoed.
>>
>>16807850
They had to do it to survive. At least they still worked to make cars like the Cayenne and Macan perform as well as possible instead of simply swapping VW badges for Porsche ones. In a way, making good performers out of fundamentally flawed is what Porsche is best at. It gives drivers good options in those niches, too. If wifey delivers an ultimatum to get a crossover (or if you're a real-estate broker who has to cater to women as part of your job), at least you can get one with decent handling dynamics.

>>16808003
The materials are nice but they're used in service of making clusterfucked eyesore interiors.
>>
>>16808062

> They had to do it to survive.

Uh, no.

I actually "technically" cheated the welfare system two months ago. I got a full-time job but they wouldn't pay me until 3 weeks into the job and I was down to my last $200, so I got into SNAP and got $150 that fed me until I got my first paycheck. Problem was, my full-time monthly gross pay is above the SNAP limit and after I sent in the proper paperwork they cut me off. But I got 1 month's free benefits! Thanks Obama!

What fueled Porsche's success in the early 21st century and enabled them to buy VAG (Porsche AG was renamed to Porsche SE back in 2007, when they had become more hedge fund than automobile maker in their attempt to take control of VAG) was the massive success of the Cayenne, which debuted in 2002. If they hadn't done that, their sales would likely have entered a terminal decline, as the popularity of the Boxster (introduced in 1996) and of sports cars in general was tailing off in a big way. They certainly wouldn't have been able to finance that lovely clusterfuck that resulted them in technically being in ownership of VAG but also being owned by VAG.

The Cayenne and especially the Macan are now big contributors to VAG's bottom line. The same thing goes for the Audi Q series. It's quite possible that if Porsche were to get rid of their SUVs, VAG would not be able to turn a profit.

In the end it's all about the VAG I guess.
