Here's a happy story though. My first drag race was against a white geezer in a corvette who shouted "wanna see whos faster" after pulling up. I used the crosswalk timer to revdrop and smoked the shit out of him. Apparently he didnt know how to revdrop and just stepped on the gas like an automatic. I only went up to 50 though before looking behind me and he was literally not there anymore. He caught up at the next light and I tried to brofist him but he was anally anguished and said "I wouldve went faster but im too old" and angrily drove off. I recorded the whole thing but my fucking cam was out of battery.

this is what ppl do with their retirement money and midlife crisis.

btw I was blazed as fuck

Nah, most australian cities are surrounded by hilly areas and good roads, any direction you leave sydney has great roads, adelaide is literally situated in hills, melbourne has some stunners close by and the gold coast has some great roads near it too. Up shit creek if you're in perth of NT but who cares.

this is without mentioning the land of 10,000 twisties, tasmania, even european bike magazine people sperg over tasmania.

>>
>>16748432
Are you retarded? Riding solo is always the safest. People dont know group etiquette and will try to show off by stunting. If one person fucks up youre looking at a flying bike slamming into you or dipshit rearending you because he doesnt know how to stagger.

Youtube "no prisoners vol" and make your own deductions from the crashes.

btw I totaled my bike in a group ride because the guy infront of me suddenly stopped and pulled over infront of me.

Hey guys, I was wondering if I could get some help with some electrical issues on a 2004 R6.
It sat outside for a few months, then recently, I replaced the stator/generator and the battery.
The issue is whenever I turn the ignition on, there is a clicking nose about three times per second that seems to be coming from the ECU and the tail light dims every click.
I replaced all the fuses with new ones and connection grease. Whenever I remove the ignition fuse, the turn signals and tail light work, but nothing else.
Thanks in advance

it kinda sound like the battery is a bit flat or broken, as it cant put out enough voltage under load. That clicking sound might be the starter relais. Typical for a flat battery.
Does it directly click or only click if you press the starter button?
Measure the voltage at the battery while it clicks. If it drops below 10V your battery is fucked or something is shorted

>nothing below this line matters on the street-----
Kawasaki is usually fastest.
Old Suzuki most reliable, brand new Suzuki supposed to be fastest.
>>
>>16749243
I gave my reasons you massive cuck.

GSXR's have strong motors but have poor build quality and their valves are known to run out of spec faster than other similar bikes. There's a huge market for low mile GSXR motors and heads due to unshimable out of spec valves. It's easier and cheaper to just drop in a new motor.
Similarly Suzuki is not known for the best aluminum welds, que all the carnage from splitting main frame spar and swingarm welds from the past 15 years on suzuki sportbikes.

Kawasaki has similar issues with welds, and worse they are known to make their frame/swingarm extrusions themselves too thin to they crack. Kawasaki pain is generally piss poor quality, and they always little, yet major issues like exploding generators due to poor design.

Now fuck off cuck.

I always put right foot down. Easy in and out of neutral, easy up/down of kickstand, etc.

Only time I'm left foot down is at a stop on a hill so I can rest my foot on the rear brake and chill out without the bike wanting to roll away or having the stop the roll with leg strength.

Technically the Correct TM way to do it is to cover the rear brake, leave bike in first with clutch in and put left foot down, that way you have all useful controls covered. Literally does not matter, but leaving it in first either way is probably a good enough idea.

There is no real difference between the amount of wind you feel at 90mph and 170mph when tucked in on a supersport. Only thing you'll notice is the howling is louder but your not even paying attention to that.

>So not only have you not done 150, you also don't even have a bike
I've posted baiks in this thread already fagtard.
including one that's capable of ~160mph and sees it pretty regularly.

Buddy has a 2009 Busa that I've taken to 170-180mph range before and my brother has a 1100XX which I've taken to somewhere around 170mph.

Only time I felt sketchy going fast was on the busa when it was reading an indicated 190 and things were happening way too fast for the situation I was in. The 1100XX is like a rock and comfy as a couch at an indicated 175ish.

I live in LA.

The bike selection is typically pretty trash.

Took about 4 months of looking to find a deal on my WRR.
Bought my R6 off a buddy so that wasn't too hard.
Bought an RC51 a while back that looked like a good deal till I got it home and tore into it, was garbage electrically and mechanically.

Most bikes you'll find around here are not taken care of and overpriced for what they are with people unwilling to budge.

And if you want a specific type of bike that's not one of the typical 600/1000cc sportbikes you're in for some pain. Hell finding a reasonably priced, non garbage dualsport XRR, DR650, DRZ, KLR is neigh impossible around here. Let alone a bike that is more rare like the WRR/WRX. People literally want $5-6000 for a used and 5-8 year old WRR. Same deal with DRZ's and DR's.

Certainly there's some fuckery with plated dirt bikes and dualsports because of California emissions laws, but there are quite a lot of large markets where you won't find, for instance, XR650Rs at all. Let alone plated supermoto conversions.

No. I'm implying there is no connection. It's very likely that someone could have terrible spelling and grammar yet do fantastic mechanical work.

Trying to judge the quality of mechanical work done to a bike based on the grammar in a craigslist post is stupid.
>>

Probably because those examples you posted are much nicer and haven't been owned by some dipshit who can't even spell the parts he put on the bike

also if you think those are "overpriced" you're on crack, a clean low mileage WR250X will sell for about $5k anywhere. $3500 is a deal.

WRR/WRX's and DRZ's are $4000 bikes used. Best case.

probably because everyone wants the USD suspension. For better or worse.

I was either going to get a WRR/WRX or a DRZ. WRR came across at the right price so that's what I bought.

No way i'm paying anywhere close to $5000 for one of these bikes though.
>>
>>16749945
Oh, and also there's probably a demand-side effect as well--LA doesn't get as hot for as long as Tucson does and probably has more tracks nearby. AND bikes are a better option relative to cars in LA than in Tucson since lane-splitting is legal and (I think) traffic is worse.

Wat??

You must look like the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man with all that shit.

You don't need a jacket AND a chest rig or riding pants AND a knee pads.
And what the fuck is a "condom"?

Get a jacket with a spine protector and CE rated armor. Buy pants with CE armor.
Throw away all that other bullshit.

neck gets fucking cold man, also prevents wind from getting into your helmet from below if you dont want it to

>additional padding/elbow pads
this is only as a reminder to somebody completely new to motorcycle gear that the tiny foam pads that come with their gear arent ACTUALLY meant to be permanant, but that they need to be replaced. not all jackets come with elbow armour, and should be supplemented if not

>legs/knees
overpants fit over literally anything, but most of them dont have super solid knee protection because they are designed to be baggy to fit over normal pants. knee protection solves this issue, and if you think overpants arent necessary, then don't wear a jacket either bud.

>>16750201
there is a reason superhoons are covered head to toe in gear. because they want to walk away from a crash with as little damage as possible. god bless if you want to have trashed joints after lowsiding at 30mph, i'm willing to spend $100 on kneepads+chest protection to avoid some of that

Any Jap sport bike will last 100k miles, but bikes are typically ridden harder than cars are driven and the people that buy sportbikes don't typically take great care of them. Unless I know the owner or it's some old man that I can tell does religious maintenance I consider 30k high mileage.
>>

>You don't need a jacket AND a chest rig or riding pants AND a knee pads.
if you dont think you need kneepads with overpants, you havent worn overpants. they have almost zero impact resistance due to the nature of their design.

oh my sweet summer child

also, those of you shit talking extra gear cant see the benefit of being a walking tank off the bike. go to as many political rallies as I do and you'll be glad. even if you dont put yourself in dangerous situations, nothing wrong with extra safety for a hoon

This, except I don't even wear pants. Boots I stress though, you don't unfuck an ankle if you break it.
>>
>>16750219
Bike engines don't typically last as long as car engines. But they do last a good long time.

Typically however people don't take the best care of them and they beat on them hard.

Also things like sprockets/chains, suspension components, bearings, brake components, etc. all require more service than a car and most people hardly ever service them, if they ever even do.

If you get a sub 15,000 mile bike you're much more likely to get your hands on a bike that is mechanically sound overall. You'll also typical be before its first valve check at that mileage.

Also the smaller number of owners the better. people get stupid when they modify bikes and half ass shit. the more owners the worse off you are with compounded bullshit modifications, especially when it comes to electrics and janky exhaust mods, stripped/wrong thread bolts, etc.

>2006- 2016 is same fucking bike w.minor differences

2008 the R6 got the YCCI and a compression bump. 2008+ bikes have a much stronger midrange because of this. The 2008+ bikes also have titanium valves and 26,600 mile valve check intervals.

2008+ bikes also didn't have the lying tac's like the 2006+ bikes did.

The 2008+ R6's are better bikes than the 2006's and 2007's even if they're the same generation.
You'll end up paying about the same for 2006/2007 or 2008+ so why not get the better years?

Nope, not even close. I got around to cleaning the wheels and frame today though. Frame had like a centimeter of oil-dust cake on the neck from me slopping oil into it every day on my TAT trip and front wheel had the same from my fork seals blowing.

I found out the owner of a local shop is a DRZ nut, has like three of them, so I'm going to contact him and see if he wants to build my engine for me since it'll take me a year to do it myself and I ain't go time for that.

>>16750481
First new bike I've owned. I've loved modifying a new bike. No surprises when opening something up. No misc parts from misc owners. I don't see how they'd know I ever had a quick shifter on it. Worst case scenario it blows up, I roll it home. Put all the original parts back on, call the shop and act innocent?
>>
>>16750501
>Worst case scenario it blows up, I roll it home. Put all the original parts back on, call the shop and act innocent?
Yes. Don't show the modifications and as far as they're concerned they never happened.

Just make sure everything you do is reversible. No cutting wires, grunding, slicing, etc. Plug and play parts only.
>>
>>16750507
Yeah I've been keeping everything I've done so far clean. I've always hated buying second hand bikes and finding wires messed up, or electrical tape holding bits together.

Thanks for the tips, I'll go ahead with it.
>>
>>16750514
>>16750481
>>16750501
This is what I'm going through with my 2017 701 right now. According to a few guys on the forums, there's a law the prevents the manufacturer from voiding the warranty unless they can prove beyond a doubt that the part you installed caused the failure, so I guess if you had dyno charts with proper fueling logged a power commander might not void the warranty. Additionally, guys in the thread who've worked in shops commented that they've never seen a manufacturer question warranty requests.
If you're in Yurop though dunno if any of this applies.
>>
>>16750550
That is true in the U.S.

However they will still try. It's easier to just revert the bike back to stock if you ever need big dollar warranty work. And that's the only time you should use the warranty. regular maintenance or something simple, just fix it yourself so you don't have to keep swapping parts every time you go to the dealer.

Bought a Harbor freight chain breaker when I needed to break my WRR chain and it pretty much self destructed. Was able to make it work with a file and a hammer using one of the heads as a punch, but the thing was toast.

Definitly recomend getting a good quality one like the Bikemaster.
>>
>>16750556
I have a an exhaust with a cat delete on my bike and I removed the fender and mirrors, have illegal turn signals and headlight, took it to the shop last week for a code and they covered the check under warranty before they even looked at the bike. Short of catastrophic engine or frame failure from a blatantly retarded mod I can't imagine the dealer would give a single shit about telling the manufacturer, since it's not money out of their pocket I don't think, and they'd just get a bad rap as jews.

Apparently the shop I go to got in trouble a few years ago for pulling strings to title unregisterable bikes in this state for people though, two strokes and whatnot, so maybe they're just awesome.

There's a Yamaha dealer around here that does this. If you buy a WR450F from them and pay extra they will do some sort of trickery to sell it as a road legal bike according to the title. You can then get a DS conversion kit and get it plated at the DMV.

You can register anything in South Dakota and get a street title, then just transfer it to your state to get one there.
Trick is you need to have a mailbox and use a forwarding service if you do it yourself, and in some states if they have your VIN recorded as 'offroad only' from a prior registration there they won't let you transfer

I mean, during the rainy season sure but beyond that I'd say it's pretty average. I can gear up for the rainy days but man the traffic is so bad - just to cross this tiny bridge WILL take you at least 1 hour during rush hour on 4 wheels.
