>1991 Toyota pickup
>driving home the check engine light comes on
>about 6 miles later it goes off
I just checked my oil and coolent today, and my temp gauge was where it always is. Any idea what could be up?
Looks like you're gonna need a new engine. I see this all the time at my shop.

have you oiled your brakes recently OP? You might want to dab a bit of 10w-30 on those rotors, if they're inadequately oiled it can sometimes cause a check engine light to pop on

This, happened to my 93 4runner

It literally could be anything, given it's a 91.
It may or may not a obd port, if it does then see if you can run codes, if it doesn't certain pre-OBDII cars have a way of flashing the codes through the dash light.

This may be it. My wife was riding with me today and said my brakes were squeeling like hell. I am hearing impaired and I can't hear high pitched noises so I had no idea.

This.
22RE check engine means bad buisness

>at my shop
Nigger, nobody who owns a 22re would take their vehicle to a shop, they all do their own maintenance.

actually no that's not a cel light it's a toyota rust light, meaning you frame and/or wheel wheels are about to have a massive failure

The light went off, so OP cant read a code.

Why even bother asking here?
I mean honestly
Do you need your hand held?

because /o/ knows everything
It could be the catalytic converter is a little plunged.

It does have a hole in the muffler. Although if >>16748297 is true it seems more likely.
Common intermediate CEL on older 22RE's are EGR VSV. Vacuum Switching Valves. They get weak and stick closed or open. Same with Evap VSV. Its an easy fix, can be fixed with dealer parts.
Even if the CEL is not on it may have the code stored.
Are these trucks really as reliable as everyone says? Seems like there is always something small going wrong with them

They are shit. Literally always breaking down.
