Pick one dude. If you get a V8, the last thing you should consider is fuel efficiency

I mean, maybe a Cadillac.

Mustangs and Camaros are capable of low-20s/high teens mpg as long as you drive with fuel efficiency in mind and haven't modded the engines too much.
>>
Maybe a v8 diesel, but not a petrol
>>
>>16735861
Ford mustang with 2.73:1 gears for great economy.

This.

If you are planning on getting anything with 8 or more cylinders, gas should be the least of your worries.

How bout the GS400? Is it worth it? A good long run daily driver ?

it'll use tons of gas
>>
>>16736081
Or like >>16736144 said, a Panther with the 2.73s and the same engine and auto tranny, although the Crown Vic will definitely get worse mileage due to weighing half a ton more.
>>
>>16736029
02 deville, averaging 17mpg

if 30~ is decent mpg for you and you commute on highways a lot then V8s are an option. some people in this thread have never driven outside of a city it sounds like.

I test drove a grandpa crown vic and while it was comfy and big, holy fuck what did they do to that engine? When I floored it it was nearly silent and hardly anything happened. I'd hope the police interceptors would be better.

This

EPA rated at 16 mpg city/ 25 mpg highway for 6 speed manual.

You aren't going to find a late 90s early 00s V8 that will do better than that.

Grandpas who cruise in 6th gear going 65 mph will see closer to 30 mpg

Q45T. Pretty fun, pretty cheap, ok gas mileage. Expensive to fix though.
>>
>>16736538
The police cars were a bit hotter, but common practice is to detune the hell out of an engine for better fuel economy an and reliability, and sound comes down to exhaust.

Some good suggestions in thread but I'll tell you my own experience with my Lexus SC400.

Living in Houston you get a lot of traffic but I still get decent MPG.
In city I'll get 16-18. While on the highway I'll get 23-25 and if I'm driving at a constant rate without any acceleration or deceleration needed I'll get a fixed 27 or 30 at 70MPH.

Pre 98 SC400s will get worse MPGs but the 98+ has VVT-i so it helps a lot in fuel economy and also comes with a 5 speed transmission.

I get about 20 combined in my 92.
