>how does it compare to CBR or similar bike
like the modern CBR250R o are we talking about the old CB125 it's based off of?

if the modern CBR, nothing like it, the suspension is super soft, the wheels are crazy thin so don't expect to lean much on this bad boy. since the back brake is super grabby they don't have a lot of play with it so it locks up pretty easily and doesn't have a lot of the conveniences of modern bikes.

It is a good knock off of the CB125 from yester year. I suppose the modern 125s in asia are a little bit better because they might be more modern but idk i've never ridden any of those. But, the sym wolf 125/150 is essentially a reproduction of a old bike. It's pretty cold blooded too so expect to use the choke all the time.

First gear is unusable and it get's really unstable at high speed (like 60mph+) it feels most comfortable at around 45-55mph. Max speed about 65mph at redline, can get to about 70 with a good wind and going down hill or drafting a truck.

that all said....... I fuckin' loved this bike. I rode it around for about a good while, It's a really fun, light shit bike. It wasn't fast, it was okay comfort but I went on a few 40-80 mile trips with it and I found it to be slow but pleasant.

I ended up selling it to a friend to learn how to ride for dirt cheap. I wouldn't expect to do any real motorcycling on it, and you'll develop more skills on something even a lil bit larger (ninja 250/300, cbr250/300) but in the 125 class, I had good fun with it, it was a good summer for motorcycling.
>>
>>16732775
Plug will be fine, preferably mushroom is best but I have had no issues with the sticky rope type plug before.
>>
>>16732774
No you didn't
>>
>>16732759
didn't read the part where you said limited to 125.

Yeah, then totally, the sym quality isn't bad. It's really just a good honda repro. It's probably nots good as a ride as other modern 125s but if you like the cafe racer styling, it's fun.

>"Apexing" in the fastest way like doing a hot lap is not for the road, on the road EVERY corner is a late apex and you should be nowhere near the center line until the exit is clearly visible, Start wide, finish tight, that way if the corner tightens or you run into some trouble you have runoff space and you are naturally on a wide entry now for the next corner if it's in the opposite direction (like yours is).

Murtanio said the same thing in his videos and I know this is correct but I keep finding myself almost hitting the motherfucking pole on right handers with my elbow, I'm always too close to the edge of the road.

It rides weird because it's not a motorcycle nor is it a trike nor an ATV. It's good fun. If he buys used I'd reccomend a 2007+ as the 07 had some pretty significant upgrades. Mine is an 06 but it's still a great bike. He will have to take care maintaining it, because riders who don't know what they're doing are half of why Ural has a bad rep. If he buys brand new, he should ride the absolute dog shit out of it for the first two years while it is covered under warranty. Let any kinks work themselves out on their dime.
They're a ton of fun, everyone waves or smiles. Everyone loves a sidecar.
There's a bunch of different models which all have their pros and cons. I wish I could have gotten a retro because I think they're the most aesthetic. The new CT model is supposed to handle really well but is 1wd only and comes pretty barebones. It's also the cheapest new. The patrol and the Gear Up are the same bike with different trim levels; the Gear Up is the priciest coming in brand new around $18,000. If your dad is smart, he will buy his accessories from overseas. If he buys from the few big online retailers stateside, I hope his wallet is very deep.

above freezing, it'll start within 4 kicks every time. Below freezing, I kick it 3 times, pull the enricheners, then press the electric start button. It'll fire almost instantly. Coldest I've ridden is 10f but I've started it and let it run at -10f on weeks when it was too cold to ride.

Pic related is a coffee run with a good friend right when it was 10 out.

1981 Yamaha seca 550 here. Was riding it when the chain broke as I went into second gear. Got the new chain coming in. Bike starts on neutral but when I kick I first gear bike will turn off. Is this normal for having the chain off? Or did the chain break something off when it broke?

I figured that it was either of these options. I'm hoping that it's stalling because no chain but now that I think about it I have the clutch pulled in, so the motor would stall once I realease the clutch. For what purpose? Since your question is bait, buy a Hyosung. Buy many Hyosungs. Right, I'm a plebeian who knows nothing about automobiles or motorcycles, but I hope it wouldn't be too much to ask for some advice.
I read the guides and information and it all seems like solid stuff, but the thing is I don't have a driver's license and don't own a car, but assuming I get a license and have the money for a good beginner motorcycle, is a motorcycle even the right thing for someone like me?

- I don't go out that much, but when I do I use public transport (I live in a big European city)
- I live alone
- I don't have a garage or anything of the sort so I figure a pro for a motorcycle would be that it's easier to park someplace
- I don't really need baggage room, I don't transport stuff much at all
- I think motorcycles and motorcycle helmets are way cooler than cars and nonexistent-car-helmets (go ahead and laugh)

Would I be better off getting a good, cheap motorcycle rather than a really old car? Again, assuming I sort out the lack of a driver's license and all.

I used to scrap knee all the time on PR2s. They can't match race tires, but they're good. I also scrapped some knee on Dunlop SportSmart 2s, but didn't like them that much. Carcass too hard, would run out of profile on the rear too frequently when leaning.

I live on the outskirts of a middle sized Euro city and I own 3 bikes, no car. You can get around just fine, specially if you're single (no family) or don't have any handicaps (injuries) and are ready to face bad weather once in a while. Good gear goes a long way. You can always get a second hand YBR125 and see if it's for you. I vote for it over a cheap car, easier and cheaper to maintain, park so on. Give it a try, I think you'll like it. Also, chicks like bikes.

I kind of half-baked that post. I was going to add something about wanting to use public transport less (it's pretty expensive at least for me) and while I am NEET at the moment I do plan on getting my shit together and working, and I'd rather have a vehicle to get quickly to and from work if required than rely on public transport all the time.
Basically I prefer motorcycles over cars just because they're better fit for someone like me and I think they're cooler, even if that does make me sound like a preteen.

Why a scooter of all things, if I were to get an automobile at all?

>>16734235
>You can get around just fine, specially if you're [...] ready to face bad weather once in a while.
Not a problem to me. If I have to go out in bad weather I'd rather have a vehicle than standing around waiting for a bus or train.

Sounds exactly like what I'm looking for then. Parking especially would be a problem since the closest parking lot is REALLY far away from where I live.

Take a MSF beginner course then make your own informed decision. I taught MSF for da Chair Force and it's a good way for even experienced riders to learn because riding is not intuitive.

My first motor vehicle was a 1974 MT 250 Elsinore in 1981 and I didn't buy a four wheeled vehicle until 1989 when added a cheap truck to my two wheeled fleet.

>installing danmoto rearsets on bike
>decide to put right side on first cause more shit to take off/put on
>finish putting everything together
>rear brake light switch doesnt fit because master cylinder in the way of bracket
>well ok i guess that isnt a big deal
>tidying up everything
>footpeg is loose as fuck
>tighten up
>brake level binds up now
>loosen peg
>lever moves freely now but peg is sloppy once again
>no level of torque applied to the bolt holding the peg other than basically nothing will bind the lever

So basically my choice is unsafe loose fucking footpeg or not being able to use my rear brake? Even when the peg isn't stuck the feel compared to the stock peg is shit. It's just a mushy mess.

I know danmoto is cheap chinese shit but I really wasn't expecting anything like this.
>>
>>16735249
Go to harbor freight, get cheap rearstand, put off front until your tires wear.
It's short/light enough you can just tip it up alone.
Save yourself the hunt and cost of a centerstand. Everybody wants one, but since they're out of production, it's cheaper to just get rollers.
>>
>>16735390
Mainly for the chain, rear tire, and brakes. Drum brakes make it so I need to take the entire tire off to inspect/change/maintain them.

why do instrument panels on liter sport bikes have to be goddamn hideous? i checked a new zx10r and the digital tachometer is just off-putting. the same thing with the r1. the moving bar lights is just distracting. is the digital tacho really a requirement over analog? considering how that instrument panel is going to be in front of my face most of the time, it would be nice if they could look at bit more toned-down.

the only reasonable answer is old people who are used to shit motorcycle compounds that wouldn't withstand travelling thousands of miles on basically straight interstate highways without needing replacement; ie I wanna take a 10k mile roadtrip through some desolate places and wouldn't be able to get replacement tires.

with modern touring tires that really isn't the case anymore - certain metzers and pilots can easily reach 10-15k miles assuming you're okay with some flattening out on the top.
>>
Literally nothing wrong with having a car tie on your bike. Especially if you do lots of touring

i'm running pilot road 4's atm and have already hit about 3k miles on them without any signs of squaring off. most people seem to hit about 10-12k with them on the rear.

the rosso corsas that came on it from the factory were totally squared off at 4k.

unless you frequently run track days or live somewhere that has a fabulous climate i don't understand not running sport touring tires.

Well just be easy on the throttle, respect its power. It's a torquey tractor after all.
Search google for an owner's manual (read it) and service/workshop manual and parts catalog. Advrider has an XT600 thread, good place if you need help and get find bike specific info, other people post what improvements they made/what works best with the bike.
With dual sports, it's worth getting handguards to protect the levers. Tusk offers a set for $30.

And as with all used bikes, it's best to change oil (~$15 or less, synthetic is nice to have for these air cooled bikes), change brake fluid ($4), check cables (maybe get spares to have on hand), check brake pads for wear, that kind of stuff. Check tire pressure. Start knowing the ins and outs of your bike. Look at the maintenance schedule in the owner's manual too.

You're gonna love that bike.

Hey guys, I'm wanting a dirt bike. Very little experience, also the runt of my family. Brother's have YZ426 and Honda 250 2 stroke and those are too much for me. We would just do basic trails and desert rides. I don't like to go too fast, and I've never even gotten those bikes out of 3rd gear. I was wondering if a 125 or CRF150 would be too small? Leaning towards 230 as well. I want low end power, smooth and stable since I'm only ridden about 12 times in my life time. Just something to putt around the camp site and go a couple miles out. No racing or bashing over whoops nor any jumping at all.

Saying you have an I-anything doesn't fully suggest performance superiority. You have to consider the generation and type (mobile or not) too. For example, a i7 3770k vs 4770k or 7770k.
