Import a twingo if you're in bongland or just buy one if not.
Take a look at the sticky for ideas of how much $5k should get you. Otherwise get a Twingo

Where do you live and what's your budget ?
Twingo
Go take a look at the sticky, then ask any questions you've got after that.

Mazda miata.

50k miles should be your maximum
totally doable with a ~5K budget as long as you're not retarded about it. Go for a base model Mazda3 or something just as common and it'll be cheap.
Depends on your budget and where you live. If I was to suggest a first vehicle to you in Burgerland, I'd suggest a 90s pickup truck. Plenty reliable and generally easy to work on.
Sorry for your loss. That's a young age to go.

Buy a cobalt SS. I wish I had gotten one in highschool. They had just came out in my grad year though, 2005. Now they're cheap as shit. Good little highschoolcars.
