I'm a lazy fuck so I'll do those bushings tomorrow. It's a bit too hot today. Still haven't washed the car. It would look awful if it were white.

Once those bushings are done I have one last mechanical problem.

>the fucking idle

I'll order a set of vacuum lines and see if that does it. The only OEM bushings left in this car are the trailing arms I think.

Doesn't have an FITV but I have a new IACV in. Idle changes based on the weather so it's gotta be a leak somewhere. Sometimes blipping the throttle will stop the idle bouncing.

Apartment cons
>the AC doesn't blow on my side
>they won't fucking fix our dishwasher
>hard to store my car shit
>the rent keeps going up even though it's income based, it was cheaper when my mom made way more money than she does now
>takes forever to get out of the parking lot
>windy as fuck
>only internet choice is AT&T at 6.5mbit/s for over $100 a month

Pros
>four bedrooms
>water included

>>16697137
I want a damage free shell. :(

I like his more too.
>>
>>16697156
Trailer pros
>would have own driveway
>AC should be much better
>Could possibly store shit under the trailer
>can work on my car in peace
>shady so won't roast in the sun
>generally cheaper
>most likely have access to Charter cable internet which is wayyy faster than the DSL for a cheaper price

Cons
>noisy floor because trailer
>maybe easier to get roaches?

I haven't lived in a trailer since the late 90's/early 00's but I don't remember it being too bad.

Of course, a small house with a garage would be ideal. That's $1000+ a month territory though.

The 1.5T is a bit more thirsty than I was expecting. But you can if you're very very patient get 6.1L/100kph or 38.5 MPG city if you press on the gas with barely your big toe, it's just you accelerate so slow you get passed by everyone or barely make it to the speed limit before you need to stop again.

I'm not a transmission hater so i'm fine with the CVT my EX-T has. It's hands down the best CVT I've driven and unbelievably smooth. Low rpm torque in Sport still sometimes catches me off guard on how quick it can take off. Beat a '06 Civic SI and weeks later a BRZ from light to light.

It's very comfy and it's been good in this brutal Canadian winter we've been having. I honestly can't wait for winter to end and be able to put my summer tires on.

I've learned to like the onboard radar and camera system, it's saved my car twice now from asshats on the road, not enough to brake on it's own I can react fast enough from the warning. The ACC and LKAS is great, I like the little corrections it inputs into the wheel to keep you centered in the lane. Right turn signal camera is damn good and makes me wonder why doesn't everyone have it.
>>
>>16698668
Don't be surprised if your question remains unanswered. There's something called the collage phenomenon. People show up and post only to join the collage before disappearing as quickly as they showed up. I don't remember either one posting in the past week.

>>
>>16698928

Yes I've been considering getting that as Honda themselves do not do any upgrades or software changes.

In theory the minor boost increase should not be a problem to the stock internals.
>>

I don't see why not. Since the pedal is connected by wire and it's the computer that does the rest. If you are in D in econ mode expect a delay if you go from normal to hard acceleration. S with econ off is full speed with high revs.

The DB1 isn't popular at all. I don't think there's much benefit going from a DA9 to a DB1.

Realistically speaking, these turbo'd cvt Civics, is it possible to for it to last 20+ years?

I have a 24 year old Accord that nothing major broke, i.e. engine and transmission. Will these Civics be able to last that long without engine and transmission problems? The older non-turbo and automatic Civics can, not sure about trubo'd cvt.
>>
I've got a manual 2001 Civic EX. Driving 2500 miles cross-country in the next few weeks and want to have a mechanic do a check-up beforehand.

From the owner's manual/Hayne's guide service schedule, it looks like the following should be checked/changed:
-transaxle fluid
-manual transmission fluid
-oil
-brake fluid
-timing belt
-spark plugs
-engine coolant
-valves

Anything major I'm missing? Is there a good service schedule/guide online?
>>
>>16700825
I think it could go 20 years if your average layman oiled their car, you can let an NA go for a while without an oil change but a lot of them are gonna get killed from lack of lubrication hurting the turbo.

for that engine the tune is very low on stock. really everything there in the 2.0l can handle near the same hp as the turbo withough much drop in reliability of full stock internals. im not sure with the turbo but id say its probably ok in the 180hps.

I own a 2001 civic em2 ex. The o ring on the side of the engine is usually gone bad on those d17a2s. Replace it as the part is only 10-14$ and will prevent oil caking the side of the engine more than you would expect. Pic related is from my engine.
Also if you want better handling the front two tires should be toe in more than stock. I can't remember by how much.

Cvt from what ive heard is ok just needs transfluid changed more often than counterpart transmission types.
>>
>>16701530
Trans fluid on Hondas are always serviced every 30k miles regardless

not necessarily. old autos needs it at 60k unless you run hard. and that can be made better with a decent intercooler

With proper maintenance honda CVTs should last as long as other honda parts which is 20+ years yes.
>>
>>16701894
That'd be my first mod for sure. Seems like the most power per dollar. Intake header and exhaust combined would cost much much more and give less power than Hondata I bet.

Depends on what B18 he's got. Good ones make close to 200hp stock. Not so good ones make like 130. I could only assume it's a B18C1 from the USDM Integra GS-R. That's a very popular choice.

Mom finally got her tax return money. About $5000. Hopefully we can find a smaller place to move into. Roommate is ready to go live with his sugar momma and I'm ready to properly split the phone bill. I've been paying it in full personally for four phones for many many months. Kind of a pain.

That's decently fast in something as light as a completely gutted EG hatch to be honest.

Old Toyotas are rusty money pits, you don't wanna get your self tied down with another project if you're busy with your Civic.

Yeah I'll probably be busy all year with it because its become a hobby/learning experience. I see this damn AW11 in a nearby neighborhood all the time that I know isn't running but it's so good looking. Southern car too so it might not even be rusty.

I guess old Toyota paint is way more durable than Honda paint at the time. Clear coat would have been roasted if it were an EG sitting in the sun every day like that.

I just recently installed some Function & Form Type Is on my DC4 Integra, I'm pretty satisfied with them so far. Rear end feels a bit harsh at times, but I think that's mostly I replaced the rear control arms with some ricer ones that super stiff bushings since the original ones had seized to the bolts that mount the shocks. Got em for $500 shipped from JHPUSA, they have a sale going on right now.
>>
>>16704372
Probably a B18B1 then, they only make about 140ish HP, but it should still be a pretty fun little car with such a lightweight chassis. The B series engines make noticeably more torque compared to the single cam D series engines that come in the Civics originally, and with the proper gearing from something like a GSR transmission it could be somewhat quick.

People only like Crossovers because they sit really high and they're on a car's unibody, my grandmother drove pic related for 12 years and wouldn't let go because visibility even though it was slow for a V6, but when it comes to Accords, no one wants to be sluggish, which is why I see so many V6 models driven by women because even they know it's a heavy car.

A parts list as long as your arm just for the MT swap with a ton of little piddly bolts and mounts in addition to the stuff you'd expect like clutch, flywheel, master/slave cyl, shift linkage, etc.

Kinda going all out and replacing a bunch of other things while I've got it apart. Everything from tires and struts to a leaky steering rack, and so on, and other wear items like ball joints and tie rod ends. Basically I want to do it all once and coast for a while.

Holding off on ECU and engine for the moment but it's coming in the next month or so.

Been saving money for it for a while, just finally got hammered enough one night to pull the trigger on a couple of items that locked me into committing.

All in all, nothing extravagant aside from a reman'd trans with LSD. Just looking to refresh the ol girl and get her on down the road for the next decade with a touch more streetability and a (thank God) Manuel Transmissión.

This seem like a good starting point for modding my engine? B18C1
Prices for car
CAI - ~210 CTengineering
Intake manifold - ~ 250 skunk2
Headers - DC ITR Replica -~400
Exhaust - Apexi WS2 - ~565
>>
>>16709666
That's been the goal for my tenth owner hatch. Doing front LCA bushings Sunday. Gonna be adding front and rear sway bars too. Gonna raise the suspension a bit too so I don't have to worry about any rubbing anymore. If FedEx doesn't fuck up, I'll be installing the steering wheel tomorrow night after work.

I got a fresh head gasket, timing belt, and water pump so I expect the engine to be good for a few years.
>>
>>16709687
I have a b18c1

Air intake was basically just a left over s2000 one that got cut up
blox itr style manifold
dc 4-1 headers
straight pipe 2.5" then out through an accord muffler (off of some random k24 accord)

All of it is random shit I got for free or came with the motor except for the exhaust

Would I spend 1400 dollars on that stuff? No, considering that's what I spent on the motor and the parts as a whole.

I also took the time to put in a wideband bung in my exhaust and tuned my car using crome

if you don't tune your car, you are wasting money and just making it run leaner for no reason. (less restriction = leaner)
>>
>>16709687
Yes
>>
>>16709770
I'm a cheapass and would be looking for all that stuff used. I only bought the exhaust new because Yonaka has good deals and they sound so damn good. Intake I traded my old Eibach Pro Kit springs for. Still using an OEM header, though. The 4-2-1 header my car came with was booger welded together and developed a shit ton of leaks. Good used D16 headers are hard to find. Everyone just has B series.
>>
>>16709770
I plan on taking it to a local shop that offers staged Integra tunes to tune it after installing all of it mate, no need to assume.
Figured it was more worth it to spend 1400 and install it myself considering the shop charges 1500 for an AEM ram intake and HKS exhaust install alone.
>>
>>16704308

oh yeah, lots of interior work to do, mostly chasing down rattling and some aesthetics. exterior I want to do something about my one fender that is fucked, and then mechanically I want to swap in a gsr motor but summers coming and my d16 still has ac and is "running" after that I want to replace lower control arms in the rear and add asr sub frame and sway bar. after all that we will see :) mostly waiting for stuff to break so I have reason to upgrade
>>
>>16709741
Damn, son. She got around like a record.

I feel you though. I think all of those little touches most people neglect (like bushings, sway bars) will make a big difference, especially in aggregate, in the way it drives.

I forgot to list it, but timing belt, water pump, etc are on my list too. It'll be nice knowing all of that stuff is sorted.

Good luck getting your shit in b4 the weekend. Nothing sucks worse than planning work and parts coming in late.

Also kek I got a 2" lift because rallycar.
>>
>>16709836
>1500$ to do an hour of work tops.
Fucking wew lad.
>>
>>16709836
I don't know what a "staged integra tune is"

Your best bet is to tune the actual car, not use a premade flash. It's not a big difference but if you are spending the money make sure it's dyno'd and make sure it idles properly. Be weary of companies selling premade stuff

I'd follow shingu's advice and get shit used off craigs etc.

Lastly, what kind of improvements are you expecting to see?

Even with all of that, plus running CTR enduro style pulley (except has a dampener) the performance gains were negligible. I just tuned my car because a basemap wasn't going to work with what I had. For 1400 smackaroos you should consider spending a few hundred on some cams and cam gears, some valves/valvesprings/retainers and get a tune. You'll see a bigger difference per dollar.

But you don't have to do that. I definitely understand the appeal of doing "easy" mods, but many easy mods don't do much, which is why they are easy
>>
>>16709870
Yeah and it still manged to still have a clean title which is pretty nice. Also the whole car had poly bushings when I bought it but they all needed replacing since they were so old. Haven't had to do any actual burning or pressing, just a flat head screwdriver to pry the old ones out and a mallet to get the new ones in. Only OEM bushings in the car are for the trailing arms.

I'm very glad I bought the Ground Controls. If I move to one of these trailer parks I'll need to lift the car quite a bit to clear the monstrous speed bumps they have. Speed bumps that big should be illegal to be honest. Even small ones do the job just fine.

I already have all the parts waiting to be put in. Just waiting on the steering wheel.
>>
>>16709884
>dyno tune
Yep, was planning on that...
>get shit used
It's barely 1500 bucks worth of stuff. Only thing I'm looking to buy used are my wheels because I'll be buying an OEM style from a later year.
>what improvements
Little to none performance wise. I'd like for my car to sound better and I'd also like to do things properly.
Only thing I "need" is the CAI, and even then it's just using my air filter replacement as an excuse
>>
>>16709895
If you want to pay full price for stuff, good on you. It keeps the business' doors open. I'm just saying it's very plentiful second hand and you can save a lot of money. 1500 can buy an integra

I'm not sure what "do things properly" means. If sounding better means louder, you are going to gain the most noise from getting rid of your catalytic converter. You can keep the stock airbox and remove the intake resonator as well (if you don't care about performance) because you're going to gain the same noise except cold air intakes can whistle annoyingly.

I'm getting the feeling from your responses that you have some kind of strange attitude because you didn't get the response you were hoping for.
>>
>>16709915
My strange attitude comes from responses that continually assume the wrong things, my initial question was a yes or no affair, as I've done most of my research beforehand but coming from a group of muscle car junkies I don't have anybody who owns a Honda to bounce it off of
>>
>>16709969
And as far as sounding better, I don't necessarily mean louder, have you ever heard a stock B18C1 scream over 6,000 RPM? It's not a terrible sound but it's definitely not anything pleasing either.

welp, that guy with the k24a4 was kind enough to let me know at 330 in the morning that one of the cylinder walls was damaged even though he said it wasn't on Monday.

Instead, just pulled the trigger on pic related
>k24a8 bare block
>k24a2 crank

block honed and mic'd at ~87mm, crank mic'd as well don't know the specs, but it's claimed to be well within oem.

cost me about 200 bucks more, but honestly I feel way more comfortable buying stuff on ebay than craigslist. that and the block work has already been (partially) done for me and I'll sleep better knowing I'm running an a2 crank.
>>

>>
>>16715433
nothin too special about the block, but the a2 crank is supposedly better/smoother at higher rpms than other k24 variants due to it's larger counterbalances. which intuitively makes sense as the k24a2 has one of the highest rev limits from the factory of any k24. gonna be revving the piss outta this motor so the crank is mainly the important part I guess
>>
>>16715133
Fuck, dude. I'd lose my shit if that happened to me. Hope you can buff out those scratches.

What did she say about it?
>>
>>16716021
