There is a punishment for wrecking, you lose time and most likely positions. As for intentional wrecking (not just someone getting into an accident with your buddy) you will get a server ban for it as we already have had to do. But you have to be constantly crashing people to receive that.

The only reason why people dnf here is because they ether have an issue with their game or they get mad.

That said we will not be changing the damage. If you don't like this find another hobby.

What 5% has done is tell the other guys on the cusp of being competitive (dprec/aspirations/zg/bob) that they don't even have a chance at winning because myself and Cosmo can literally kill each other at 250km/h and it means absolutely nothing. A couple years ago I was in dprec's shoes and had to chase down Risto. I kept at it because I knew there was a chance he could throw it all away, and sometimes, he did. I'd be incredibly frustrated if that situation was now impossible.

No, this is not correct. Cosmo went into the concrete wall at top speed, shot across the track, and smashed into me. We were up on Aspirations by 35 seconds at the time of the incident. That gap was reduced to 29 seconds.

The key difference is Cosmo, myself, Guzzah, and Risto can go out and click off 45 minutes worth of clean laps, building enough of a gap where a major accident doesn't matter even if it happens. As a driver sitting in 3rd, 4th, 5th, etc, you can't capitalize on these moments like you once could. I'm all for shitter-proofing the series, but at the same time it's inadvertently allowed the two guys up front to be impossible to catch.

It's the URD EGT cars with stock tracks. 40 minutes of practice, 10 minutes of qualifying, a smoke break, and then 2 x 25 minute races.

Grid is inverted for race 2 and pretty big weight penalties are given to the top four drivers in race 1. Therefore nobody can run away with it.

I manually go over all the corners you're allowed to cut/run wide before practice starts. I allow people to drive outside the track limits, but those who stay within the track limits are allowed to shut the door on people who cut/extend and then try to re-join (basically the thumbs up to wreck somebody for cutting). Everybody plays it safe because of this rule.

Contact is allowed provided you're trying to make the corner and not blatantly wrecking the guy to be a wanker. Blocking is allowed, but I advise people not to do it because it basically never works the way you want it to.

Because people pay $40 to enter these events, we do not enable damage, as we guarantee two hours of simulator time, and a retirement in turn 1 means you're getting ripped off for the amount you paid compared to someone else.

HOWEVER, I hand out drive-thru penalties for any dumb shit. So if you cause a wreck because you're a fucking idiot & then drive off like nothing happened, I make sure there are repercussions. On average I hand out one penalty per evening, so the racing is pretty clean to begin with.

So instead we fuck them over with penalties for shitty driving as a compromise. I campaign for damage every evening because it makes people drive a lot smarter and therefore makes my job easier, but surprise surprise, guys want the minuscule bragging rights of playing a hardcore simulator over something like NFS, but then shit their pants over any simulator elements being enabled.

Blows my mind as well, but a lot of the guys that show up don't have proper gaming PC's or the time to get big into sim racing on their own time, so I guess they think it's easier to just pay extra and have somebody do it all for them.

The biggest saving grace is that it's a solid group of dudes who all kind of have the same mentality as to what they want out of the events. Qualifying is usually a toss-up between the top six drivers.

Because people with Pentium IIIs and GeForce 4s need to be able to play the game. Never mind the fact that a moderately sized grid running an ill optimized mod will completely tank performance on PCs not able to run modern sims properly.

Also rF2 is piratable, but there's a bit of lag between the legit and pirate releases so it's possible to get version mismatches come race day, and those can only be resolved by the server and all legit clients downgrading, which is time consuming and useless.

So yeah, thank the poor.
