They threw big rocks at it, which also fucked up the hood, roof, both front fenders, and the LH door. Gouges and dents all over. Fender and door for example. The hood is really budgeted where it meets the windshield.
>>
>>16686094
It's a black car so it's hard to tell from pictures, but there are dents all over the front. I know I still got lucky, but the car totally needs a respray, there's scratches from the rocks falling off the car too

I parked in such a decent neighbourhood too, I have no idea who did this. Maybe D with the white Tezz saw something since I parked in his hood.

Your own fault. I park my R32 Skyline in the garage of my house. See, people make the mistake of spending their hard earned money on frivolous toys before they get their own house. These same people then wonder why they are living in shitty cube houses their entire lives and not in a big nicy cozy house they bought from saving up money throughout the years.

Did you import through B-Pro?
>>
>>16686114
No idea. I only had the car for 2 weeks at the time of it getting fucked up, and only my friends knew I had it. I have a few guesses that my friends suggested:

>Nissan fanboy angery

>someone thought I was a chink and wanted to vandalize my car to get me to leave (happened to my brother's friend's GC8 STI)

>friend who secretly hates me

It was probably just teenagers, but fuck man, who knows. So choked. I've been waiting since November and now it looks like May will be the earliest I'll get it back.
>>
>>16686111
this definitely happened to me before around new years 2013. i also live in a decent neighborhood mostly inhabited by the elderly. all they did was brake my passenger window though and open my glove compartment (which i keep nothing in).

My car is a cheap shitbox though so they weren't exactly going to get anything out of braking into it.
>>
>>16686128
I found and used my own exporter and took care of the rest myself. It was easy and I'd recommend it to anyone in BC.

So is this a Canada thread or a getting your car smashed by shits thread?

Anyone know of any good driving to do on Vancouver Island? I was thinking of driving the Pacific Marine Circle Route next weekend. Don't know of any good backroads around Victoria.

yeah sooke to port renfrew is lovely but port renfrew to lake cowichan is garbage-- you will bend a wheel, control arm or creep through. Then lake cowichan back to victoria is just a freeway.

>Canada thread, get in here losers.

People suck everywhere. It's only security cameras and alert (aka nosy) friendly neighbors that make criminals less likely to strike.

>>16686114
>Any idea why they did it?
Haven't you ever read on other forum sites where people go "LOL LOL I just bashed someone's stuff for fun LOL LOL" types of posts. Because the car was newly appearing, some jealous people got TRIGGERED and did it.

Or someone resented how arrogant the owner is and compensated with non-linear action. I am NOT saying OP is arrogant. It is what someone else is feeling that is important here. You can spend a ton of effort to be polite all the time, but that one failure out of 1000 meetings where you were imperfect or brusque just once gets people pissed off. Then they hold a grudge forever even though they keep on smiling in front of you because they want no radioactive fallout from you.
>>
>>16686137
>someone thought I was a chink
so guessing you're from vancouver?
>>
>>16687442
My previous car, and my car now have a lot of damage just from sitting in parking lots. I've never seen anyone committing such damage to any vehicles, so it seems strange.
>>
>>16686098
>They threw big rocks at it, which also fucked up the hood, roof, both front fenders, and the LH door.

They had enough time to do it. So that means they were in the spot for at least a minute instead of a car passing by for 30 seconds or less. Thus there should be ping in the geo-location database from either their car or their phones.

Do the police have geo-location of the various cellphones in that area? While consumer cellphones might not communicate their location accurately, they are good enough to detect several feet differences as some people have moved and tested feedback responses. All those clustered smartphones that don't belong to people living in the neighborhood would be the suspects. If they are from your acquaintance group, then those are the ones who were secretly irritated at you mentioning a new expensive import car.

Just don't mention to your acquaintances. Keep quiet and have a happy face. Otherwise, if it is one of them, they will be secretly pleased.

If someone is picking on you by constantly vandalizing your cars, then they have to know it was your car. Otherwise, how would they know to attack your new car? That is probably one of the facts that limits the suspect list.

80% of cars imported to Canada are STIs or Delicas. Believe me, the prices are rising because the market is anticipating the US after what happened to the R32 when they could buy it. Prices went from 10k to 40k and up. We have very little to do with it. Same thing with the 86, and they could import those even sooner than the R32. Fuck off Aussie, you know you're the ones importing all the silvias and shit. Wait til the R34 is legal in the states and watch the price go from 60k to 100k for a non v spec
>>
>>16690584

>>16690689
Even then, when I used to get plastered with my mates we don't go around wrecking cars. And we did plenty of stupid shit.

I've got a mate in Brampton who's seen the Syrians in action. Twenty-something Jihadis-to-be of an unspecified age (likely bearded "children") running about with hockey sticks (but no pucks) belting the shit out of everything in reach. He keeps them at bay with a dog.

If a horde of them passed through your neighbourhood it's possible that they trashed the FD just because it looked nice.

There will be plenty. They're rare in Canada still. We're both inflating the price gradually but the US just fucks everything up.

>kids like to vandalize random cars. did you have insurance?
OP's problem is they pick only on his cars. He didn't comment about other cars also having damage. So it can be one of his secretly hostile "friends" or someone living in the area who has some sort of grudge.
>>
>>16690754
>I've got a mate in Brampton who's seen the Syrians in action.
A lot of refugees will never integrate into Canadian society due to their religion. They will just re-create their original country if they have enough numbers to form a community.
>>
>>16692180
I never said that they vandalized my other cars. Someone else did.

The worst part is that ICBC only values the car at 5000 so hopefully the damages don't exceed that. Show me a fucking FD for 5000 Canadian.
>>
>>16690537
>Ditchmond

>>
>>16694034
>The worst part is that ICBC only values the car at 5000

They're lowballing you because they want to write off all rhd cars, don't take their shit and show proof it's worth more than that.
>>
>>16694034
They don't care about the extrinsic costs of getting the FD adding to its value. Those are considered to be "besides the point". They are only looking at the car itself minus all the importing costs.

But are you obligated to accept the first offer? Don't some people consult lawyers and have the price bumped up? You might also check as to what types of body repair services are available. The insurance company might have a list of preferred service providers that if used, the insurance covers all the repair minus the deductible. But if you choose someone not on the list, then if it exceeds 5000 CDN, you have to pay the difference.
>>
>>16694043
Yeah some muscle car fuckboy or some shit maybe

>>16694050

True but market value is well above that and they should be able to tell by transfer papers. The blue book value just south of the border is 16,000 US ffs. I'm just gonna have to wait and see what they do but it's such a pissoff
>>
>>16694978
Beware if there is a time limit on your refusal. If there are car insurance lawyers that have free consultations to see if you have a case for a higher compensation, you might try that. It represents some time lost on your part, but you might learn something new too.

Keep in mind I had the car for two fucking weeks before it got shrekt. The engine is stock, the interior is cleaner than any 2016 model car, and the exhaust sounds beautiful. You sound like you're talking out of your ass and ride a bike.

>>
>>16698947
That's only if the police take the case. They rarely do for a low level car vandalism crime, but if the car belongs to a VIP or member of a policeman's family, then they often go to the trouble. That's because police officers have careers, and spending case time on a car vandalism doesn't yield much career points. So they usually write those off and write up enough case info to satisfy the insurance company's need to get a police report before paying to fix the car.

On a different forum, it was mentioned that a lot of foreign immigrants are from wealthy foreign families purchasing homes and businesses as their easy path to canadian citizenship approval. >>
>>16703601
Yeah I thought so too, especially since this is a nice area.

I've narrowed it down to two suspects.

Suspect 1:
>friend of mine, P
>P is acting shady about the whole situation
>saw him driving along my street twice since the incident, which is pretty out of the way for him though he does drive a lot
>claimed to have not seen the damage to my car, but he's a car guy and knew exactly where it was parked
>gets defensive when I tell him to be careful where he parks his car because I don't want to see his shit get smashed up too (clearly projecting and thinks I'm subtly accusing him)
>insists that it was drunk teenagers or someone I pissed off while driving; says I do pulls all the time and drive close to people, but I rarely do either of those things while he does pulls every 4 minutes in his WRX

Suspect 2:
>owner of a white Volvo 740 that parks near where I like to park
>since I parked there, he has parked his shitbox on the other side of the street
>I have reason to believe he's pissed that he has to parallel park his car when I'm parked there
>middle aged man who doesn't look very friendly
>doesn't warm his car up even for a second, just turns it on and rips away
Clearly no respect for cars.

Torn between them. Of course, it could have been drunk teenagers all along, but I never see any in the neighbourhood, and I think they would be more likely to ogle the car than to ruin it. Plus, there were a lot more expensive cars parked right close to me. This is why I think it was targeted.

Anyone wanna pitch in?

>When I find out who did it
You need to get a junker and install one of those parking lot dashcams that continue recording while parked. Those types turn the display off to save power and just record. You can then park the junker in the spot and see if it gets damaged. If so, then the damage was not due to the car being a nice looking FD from Japan but probably due to it being in that spot.

It could even be a non-working car if you have a friend with a F250 truck and car towing trailer dolly. Just move it into place in front of that spot and when the neighbor leaves, push it into the spot. You can occasionally move it at night to a somewhat different location before your city's time limit expires for cars parked in the same spot. That way, it is in a different spot. When done with your experiment, tow it off.

And don't let any suspicious people know any more details about your life. Such as if you have hidden spots in the car or not. Where you hide stuff. Whether or not you have marijuana in your room. Where you hide your spare key on the car. If the guilty suspect you know, they will write you off as a resource. And then they will snitch on you to hurt you as much as they can.

That's why you have to differentiate between friends and acquaintances. When you let acquaintances be friends without ever having earned your trust, then trouble happens. Lots of people out there hate or are jealous, but will "act friendly" because they want as many resources as possible in case they need help in the future.
>>
>>16704942
That's a good idea. But I've parked other cars there for extended periods of time and they haven't been touched. Still, I'll keep that in mind. That's a really good way of thinking.

I'll definitely be getting one for the FD too, and an alarm. And I'll keep P at arms distance, too.
>>
>>16704953
I don't remember if a model name was given, but one of the previous dashcam type threads mentioned more details about a dashcam that would continue recording when the car was parked. I assume it has some default selectable time like 15 minutes or 30 minutes.

You probably should not up the ante with this guy by mentioning his name to the police as a suspect if you don't have your car protected. Stalker personalities are like that. If hurt, they strike back with attacks over and over. So beware if you up the ante with them.

This guy would not fully ID himself. He'd do it anonymously. He doesn't want to get exposed. It's easy enough to make OP look bad. For example, if he finds out OP is traveling to Washington state where marijuana is legal and lots of crystal meth is sold, he can contact the border crossing with an anonymous tip that someone is going to buy a bunch of drugs and come back with it.

Put some hash oil on bumpers and seams, and it will soak in the rubber and last long enough for the dogs to sniff it. The hash oil (THC oil concentrate) is also sold in washington state. SO he can get some and bring it back by wrapping it firmly and dripping wax on it then put it into a can of soda that he's drinking out of.

He can avoid having his car tracked at the border by riding with his own friends going down to washington and coming back with them. So it would look like he's never even been down there.

Obsessive personality types can be terrible to deal with once they target you. That's why the best thing to do is not to trigger him. Just ease him out of your life and friends' lives. It should be easy enough to have activities with your friends but not invite that guy. Eventually, everyone will not associate with him. Those are the types you have to get a restraining order. But you'd have to have enough proof to convince a judge and that is difficult for anonymous vandalisms.

Even if you garage the car, you might have recordings turned on for the street where you can catch a license plate. Warehouse clubs sell those home security camera systems with 6 or more separate wireless cameras.

>>
>>16712867

>>
>>16714655
The types of rocks denting the car might be a clue.

If the rocks were like those in the nearby yard, then that's no help. But chances are P picked up rocks from his own yard. If those rocks are unique such as being all granite, whitish streaks, sedimentary, quartz, etc, then that would point to P as the culprit. Do rocks retain fingerprints? If so, don't touch them but use an individual baggie for each. Then have something that P touched to provide a comparison fingerprint.

If he ever used your PC, it's time to re-run the antivirus program on your PC to do a quick check of the disk if it isn't already scheduled. It's probably unnecessary, but you need to close up any gaps in your defenses due to a potentially backstabbing "friend".

But sleeping with the enemy is a difficult and dangerous thing especially if the person has an obsessive personality that won't let things go.

So don't make an enemy out of him. Otherwise, there are only two solutions. He gets a life sentence to prison or you move far away from the area after changing your name. Otherwise, you'll have to face anonymous stalker nonsense and that just decreases the quality of your life.

A lot of laws are MIS-used in today's poisonous society. One of the most misused is anti-discrimination. It's been twisted around by a few to become a censorship tool as well as a revisionist tool. Both are bad ideas in a real democracy as well as a truthful society that has problems to deal with.

i used to know many ex police officers, they all said if someone breaks into your car or house and you catch them, wait until they make a move for you then defend yourself and make sure theyre dead. in that case, you tell the truth that they came at you and your life was in danger and you had to defend yourself. if they live, its fucked up because they can sue you for assault and people have won. our legal system basically says if someone breaks in call 911 and leave the premises which is BS

ive lived in Alberta my whole life and never have found myself bored, i have a cabin near the mountains i go to year round and a house in the city. mountains are a short drive away, etc

the police thing especially in Edmonton is mostly to do with mayor Iveson. when the police ran photo radar, you had to do 10 over the limit and there were few photo radar vehicles around. Iveson put photo radar from EPS to city run and thats when this 5 over ticketing and 200 photo radar trucks everywhere daily started. i do highly disagree how when the economy was good lift kits, front window tint, exhausts, etc was all taken a blind eye too and now at checkstops theyre ticketing people for it because they need funding

That is a great problem when the dindu live. Dindu boldly lie in court all the time. We see them frequently pleading Not Guilty despite having very many witnesses and after a police chase to boot. >Why shouldn't they be asshole?
You don't need to call all refugees assholes. But car crimes continue to increase due in part to refugees.

Also a great many of them are violent criminals. Due to extensive criminal records, they can't get jobs in their country and are ostracized and become poor. That's why they are refugees because their own country rejects criminals. Why should Canada be the deposit grounds of criminals?

After I told them the circumcstances, yeah. But I haven't told anyone from the friend group of P yet. P hasn't contacted me since but I don't think he realizes how distinct his shitty Cobb exhaust sounds. I've heard him around where the car is parked now, though he hasn't driven by.
>>
>>16743489
>where the car is parked now
So everyone in the neighborhood gets to see the broken windshield and dented metalwork right now? Or is it hidden away in the garage? I guess as long as there is no hole all the way through the windshield, no rain gets inside.

Are you now waiting for replacement parts to arrive? Does the car need a mechanic inspection to make sure the hidden things like brake line was not cut? It would suck if your car continued to be parked outside and a few more rocks hit the other windows.
>>
>>16744804
It's at another location entirely, covered with a car cover. Unfortunately P followed me and the tow truck there, so he knows where it is, and I've heard him driving in its proximity. Coincidence? Maybe, it's by a main road now.

I'm just putting the engine back together and getting it ready to be sent to the insurance company. Put the proper thermostat in so they won't flood it when doing the estimate.
>>
>>16744804
If it's parked outside, the worst thing to do now is finish making holes in the cracked windows. That forces it to swap places with the car being garaged.

>Unfortunately P followed me and the tow truck there
How did he have such good timing? It's not like he waits at your home all day long? Or does he intend to find out when it will be finished with repairs? You don't need to tell him. All he needs to know is the name of the body shop. Then he can anonymously call the body shop and ask "When is the FD going to be finished?" and they will tell him. So keep the name of the body shop secret to prevent stuff like that from happening.

Or you can post the name of the body shop here. We will will the shop and pretend to be you and ask for the repair to be rescheduled. Or even "Can you finish it sooner? I agree to pay an extra $500 for priority service." Then you show up to pick up the car and see a mechanic lien bill for an extra $500. If P is too unmotivated to fix his car's problems, he's probably not good enough to try to fool with your body shop's purchase order. But someone with skills and panache like a real life Joker could cause problems.
>>
>>16744818
>covered with a car cover.
At least you don't live in a HOA. They wouldn't allow car covers since that makes for a something that sticks out in the neighborhood landscape.
>>
>>16744818
>I'm just putting the engine back together and getting it ready to be sent to the insurance company.
Keep close attention on the car. If your city has a rule about derelict cars (non drivable) parked in the public street, then P could try to report it to be ticketed and towed. As soon as the ticket appeared, he would snatch the ticket so you would not see it. But the city still has it in their computer and when the time limit expired, your car would be towed to impound.

Hopefully, he is not clever enough to know all the ways he could terrorize you and raise your expenses or waste your time.

>Canada thread, get in here losers
I will get to Canada even if I'm not a loser(?).

What's the most complete store in the Richmond Vancouver area for the higher-end car care chemicals and tool/accessories? I'm thinking of driving up from Seattle to Richmond and Vancouver. I won't be staying overnight, but will come up early in the morning to have an arrival time of 9AM in Richmond. I'll get something to eat at Yaohan Plaza because there is one shop there that makes stewed daicon similar to the way it tasted at those Lawsons wintertime hotpots.

Are there any places that also have larger inventory of car accessories such as floor mats? If there are two tone types such as black and red in the picture shown, I would very much like to go to that store and buy or special order some.

That's part of the problem about having tires that don't have shoulders. People don't get close to the curb.
>>

>At least you don't live in a HOA
Our HOA has multiple security cameras. The recordings are available to all residents to view as long as they make a written request. So if OP's friend's car drove around, it could be spotted on the cameras even if the license plates were covered up (a crime).
>>
>>16755091
My area's parking enforcement isn't strict in residential neighborhoods. So the "park within one foot of the curb" law is basically not enforced.
>>

>OP repairs car in May 15, 2017 after parts arrive
>OP posts in /o/ May 30, 2017 "Hay, my FD been vandalized again"

If there was only some way you could video record the next time an attempt is made upon your repaired car. You can then submit the video to obtain a no-contact order because you'll need something to stop a mobile attacker from going after your car the 3rd time.

Until you get a no contact order, the most that can happen if they get caught is misdemeanor mischief. But if they get caught violating the no contact order, then that is a sturdy criminal charge that can cause jail time.

Obama agreed to accept 1500 of the australian refugees that failed to pass australian vetting. Trump wanted to refuse them, but was forced due to liberal protests and strong liberal opinion as seen in the past month's usa news. So the usa will get 1500 high-risk african, syria, and afghan refugees of which most are proven violent criminals (criminal records).

get another FD owner from a forum or something to put a feeler for sale ad up at an insane price.

It worked with my co-workers GC8 on ICBC. They lowballed really aggressively and his relative had a nicer, cleaner, lower mileage car and put it for sale at about 5k more than it's actual value was. ICBC didn't have anything else but overpriced importers and that car to base off of, after the cars owner playing a bit hard to get ICBC gave in and paid him very well for that car.

There's nothing wrong and _much_ good in knowing people IRL. It's not just about purely social things, but for careers in a big company, it is often "who you know" that makes the difference. And if you need help or advice, knowing people is essential. I've also seen that most of the time, the people who are isolated are also the people who get laid off first.

But outside of business, for a social life, if you know lots of people, you have a lot more opportunities to do different things from trips to events to social get togethers to cookouts and even chances to do things like get help on your project car. Another plus is that practice makes perfect. So by working with others socially, you do improve your people skills and that improvement helps you at work too.

Certainly, almost everyone in /o/ has said at one time or another that someone they know just doesn't have any people skills. That unfortunate person was probably someone who refused to know people IRL. As a result, he ended up having no people skills. Don't be that guy.

Can you list or link some of the reliable online stores you use? I'm always afraid of underperforming fake "made in china" products. Lots of fakers counterfeit other successful chinese brands. So that's why I hope you know of AliExpress resellers that try to get the actual original good chinese brands.
>>

No

Anyway, do your research. It depends what you want. For colour matching paint or dye for leather, you may have to sear h some forums for an obscure old school site that sells the right stuff. Lots of quality products won't be advertised. I'm sorry I can't help you more.

>I've just never in my life seen anyone bump their door into another car,
Since it goes on lots of places, you either are in big parking spaces or the people around you take care of their cars and raised their kids to have some consideration for others.

Where I am, the young generation is not looking good. I dread when they grow up and it will be their turn to take control of companies and governments as well as work in schools and government offices. Far too many have low ethics. It's okay to hit and run for these people. If their door hits your car, it's your fault for parking so close. If they t-bone you, its your fault for running the red light (even though it was green for you).
