Alright /o/ what are your thoughts on classic VW Beetles
I have one that's essentially new, all I need to do it buy a new body. Now I'm not Sure if I should keep it, I don't really like it if I'm being honest.Planning on restoring it and selling it. Can seem to find a price range online they are all over the place, any suggestions on the price to sell if fully restored?

Pick one faggot

The internals are new, should have worded it differently my bad faggot.

so it's mechanically sound? $3k at absolute most, depending on year (early 60's models are the most desirable). and you should expect to sell it for half that. Bugs are some of the most popular cars ever built and still holds the world record for the most cars produced from a single design.
The only car possibly worth less is the Ford Model T.

Yes, God dam that's a bunch to the gut. So why the fuck are people selling them for 8k upwards to 15k? Am I missing something? Or are people just retarded?

and here's the answer as to why before you ask.

Yes you are

Rust.
These cars loved to rust and since they were so cheap new, it was often cheaper to scrap the car than fix the rust.
10-15k is a fantastic price, if the car is completely restored, has perfect paint, mechanically perfect, etc.
I've been looking for a rust-free 63 sunroof project bug for years now. I live in the Northeast, so you can imagine how tall an order this is when you live in the rust belt.

Certain years sell for more, i.e. a '73 Super Beetle isn't going to go for the same amount of money as a 50's split window. Also, bodywork costs a shit ton if you don't have the contacts, it's labor-intensive and time-consuming, so having shit floor pans/parcel shelf and dissolving A-pillar is going to knock a good chunk of value. At least everything is being reproduced for the most part; doesn't necessarily mean it's going to be cheap.

Alright would it be wise to invest around 5k to restore it? Would it sell? Kinda concerned about that since it was one the most produced cars.
>>16679751
I think its a late 60s

It's very labor intensive to do it. It's a total crapshoot. Do some research. The Samba is a good site for this as it specifically caters to air cooled VWs.

Double check. They made changes to the car every single fucking year. That's not an exaggeration. If you know what to look for, you can tell the year of an old Bug by little details from the window size or shape to the headlights/tailights, the chrome molding used, or even the fucking shade of the turn signal lense (all 1964+ cars use amber signals. 1963 and older cars have clear turn signal lenses).
