alright. im stumped.
my 3rd gen camaro is cranking but it wont start
it was running fine until i rolled forward onto the piece of wood i used to chalk the wheel. then it sputtered and died.
.getting fuel
.getting spark
.compression is 150
.timing set correctly
its a 305 with a rochester quadrajet carb
also 3rd gen GM thread i guess.
talk about our shitty cars
discuss water leaks and frame bending.

that is not an f-body anon, check your folders

thanks for the input

I would tell you to check the valves, but then again I don't know jack shit.
Friend had a similar problem a while ago, his timing belt snapped, somehow it didn't fuck up the valves. The car would crank but it wouldn't start, since the valves weren't doing their job.
Just hope you can fix it, anon

rotate engine to tdc on #1 cyl. see if dizzy is pointing at #1 on cap. The timing might have jumped. those nylon tooth oem timing gears are trash
>>16663757
This. Prob jumped a tooth
the timing gears are nylon? holy hell
thanks for the tip
>>16663749
If valves were bad, there would be no compression
>>16663796
most oem are. it was to reduce noise. They are fine if it's stock and was serviced at specified intervals but nobody does that.
If you do have to open it up you better put a fucking Cloyes tru-roller or equivalent dual row in.
It realized it was a trird gen camaro and killed itself.

i don't have a garage let alone level ground to pull the engine. 2 more paychecks and im getting a 454 and a turbo 400 i just wanted to try and get it running without throwing any more money into it before i do the big swap.

You can do the chain in the car with a walmart toolset. Just have to pull the fan rad and water pump iirc. Look up a how to. But first look up a tdc how to and verify the timing.
You can always sell a running drivetrain pretty easily. It will be worth it to fix.
sell a 305? honestly i dont think i could give it away. i guess i'll verify if its the timing and get a cheap 30$ timing set i can probably borrow the tools from o'riley too.
>>16663749
itll only mess up the valves if they run inside the cylinder at some point, i think its mostly dohcs that do this but idk
>>16663805
I see. Thanks for explaining anon.
