Help! I have a 81 cb750f. The slip-on muffler is cracked and I want to get a new one. I'm having trouble finding just that slip on piece without knowing the pipe size. Anyone know or recommend any good websites to buy a new one?
>>
>>16657621
i did

440 bore kit
39mm FCR carb
stage 2 cams.
yoshimura RS-2

it was ok i guess. it felt sluggish. like it didn't have the pop of the old flat slide carb.
>>
>>16657602

2007. I prefer this body style over the new gens for some reason.
>>
>>16657625
Probably not as bad as an R6, but kicking it would suck.

>>16657635
Literally everyone says the FCR has amazingly better throttle response than the stocker so I'm not sure what you mean. Stage 2 cams are for top end power too IIRC. Got your jetting dialed in?
>>
>>16657645
oh that's weird.

The bike itself is a lot worse than the new gens so I hope that wasn't the deciding factor, the engine on the 2nd gen is unbelievable.
>>
>>16657603
That depends on the bike.
Kickstart a no go for a lot of people.
>>
Do Supermoto conversions include changes to the suspension? I would think that the stock setup would be too soft.
>>
>>16657651
i didn't keep it for long cause it made my maintenance intervals 450cc dirt bike tier.

figured if i was going to be doing that kind of work to keep it running then might as well just get something like a real 450cc dirt bike.

looked at a couple EXC500s and FE501s but i ended up buying a 1290 SDR when i sold the GSXR too.

Depends, not necessarily. Anything from no changes to new springs and oil to whole new Showa/Ohlins suspension.

>>16657687
Really? Because ThumperTalk would have me believe that the BBK doesn't change the maintenance intervals at all, and that the Hot Rods stroker crank takes a careful install but if done right is the same.
You aren't the 1290 I park next to every day are you? kek
Should still get the 501.
>>
>>16657660

I'm aware of the mechanical differences between the two. Insurance was a factor too. The 07 was cheaper to insure vs the newer one for full so that was a decent factor.

Plus this one came with complete service records for a guy who was very meticulous in every thing he did on the bike. Was well taken care of and he was honest through the whole sale. Best person ive ever dealt with for a private sale. Even offered me new tires off his zx-10 and to even buy me a new battery if i have issue with the lithium one.

depends if the rider is actually riding supermoto tracks or racing, just doing wheelies and vaping, whether it was converted from a trail bike, MX bike or enduro etc. Whether the supermoto course has jumps or is a flat track.

to do it "right" as in make a fast track machine, ideally yes, but I mean you change your suspension settings and, springs, oil etc. per track if you're doing it "right" anyway, so I don't really think of it to much as like changing the suspension, just think of your springs and what not as a "setting".

They also generally run a much larger front brake because you brake much harder and more frequently on tarmac.

I've been riding a 50cc manual moped for a while, and I think I want to dig deeper into bikes as a hobby. I found a 73 CL125 on craigslist near where I live, and I'm wondering if it would be a good first "real bike." I'd imagine it's probably worth 400-500 US, because it's lost a bit of its luster.

Opinions?

Pic related, but not the same bike on craigslist.

For a small displacement two stroke like that you definitely want a red or purple powerband. You need all the power you can get.

Funny thing is... you can actually adjust the power band on a kx85 by replacing the power valve spring with either a softer/stiffer spring.

That's ~3,5L here.
You'll need a really economic vehicle to reach 320km on that.

TW is fuckin cool
TW200 vs Grom, what would dbt buy and do with it?
>>
>indicate left
>works around 70% of the time
>sometimes just stops after one flash
>indicate right
>nothing
It can't be the fuse, relay or battery since I can indicate left fine-ish, and it can't be one of the bulbs because I'm not getting sped up flashes on the remaining bulb / indicator check light, right? So it should be the indicator switch that's broken?
On a scale of 1 to adjusting the carbs on a CB 400, how annoying is switching out the left switch assembly on a late 90s standard bike? They're around 30 € so not that expensive.
>>
Texas fag here.

I just want a fucking KLR for around $2000 but I can barely even find a used one from before 2008. Can someone help me, this is my first bike and I think a KLR would be perfect

At first glance I thought it was a wojak photoshopped under the helmet.

Not everybody likes the idea of dying to a chick on her phone, man. I'd daily a motorcycle if the women here didn't drive like they wanted to kill me.
>>
>>16660928
A guy today almost killed me. He ran a red light and looked at me scared with his phone in his hand. What a stupid face he had.
Fucking people.

switchgear is ezpz, I took mine apart to clean the contacts in there a while ago and it was no problem.
>>
>>16660894
Depends on the switch, shouldn't be too hard though.

I replaced my entire control assembly when my left indicator switch broke, as that was easier.
>>
>>16660928
Everybody tries to kill me.
Even if I'm not on my bike.

Luckily I drive a big fucking ass, 3,5 ton, van for work, so it's more like they want to kill them selves when they cut me off with their Suzuki Alto.

neither because they're both useless memebikes

>rainy day
>three other bikes on campus, ratty ass sv650, f4i, and a slightly weathered but late-model r1200gs
>sunny day
>every single fucking motorcycle parking spot is filled with fancy, chinked out sportbikes, scooters, chromed up and spotless harleys
fucking fair weather riders, i swear to fucking god. i had to go to the complete other side of campus today because value signalling moto-preeners needed to let everyone in their classes know they're a badass motorcyclist. where are you faggots when it's not a perfect day out?
>>
>>16660894
Yeah most likely the switch. Disconnect the connector from the bike's wiring harness and unscrew it to completely remove it and give you room to work then just get to cleaning the innards and apply a little dialectric grease.
>>
>>16661127
Huh?

>another moto commuter elitist
We're not poor and can afford a bike AND a car. Why would we choose to ride a bike in unpleasurable conditions when we can have a better time in a car?
>>
>>16661180
>>16661080
>>16661078
Thanks guys, will clean the switch first and if that doesn't help I can still replace the assembly. Do I just go to town on it with a wire brush and WD-40?
>>
>>16661185
i'm saying those gloves aren't going to do much to keep your hands together in a crash. They're just cheap gloves with a bunch of different shit sewn on to give the appearance of being beefed up and protective.
>>
>>16661195
Because especially on days with bad weather is the traffic horrible.
It's the perfect time to go on your bike and lane split your way to work and home.

Also it has to be fucking cold or fucking hot do I care about the weather.
My suit has more in common with a ski suit than racing leathers.
>>
>>16661195
what's unpleasurable about riding in the rain? you have rain gear, right? oh wait, you're a fucking fair weather value signaller.
>>
>>16661202
That's the complete opposite of everything I've read on um and heard from other people.
But I'm sure the guy in 4chan is telling the truth!!!
>>
>>16661217
yeah he's full of shit. dainese gear is top dollar. i would have recommended full gloves with over-the-wrist coverage, but you can't go wrong with dainese.
>>
>>16661217
Not that jackass, but they look too short for me.
>>
>>16661228
I figured.
Already have full gauntlet gloves, just wanted some new shorter ones. The velcro wore out on my old pair. I just like to have options lol
>>16661231
They have ano awkward cut, but not too bad
>>
>>16661211
>cant see for shit because visor keeps fogging
>cant be seen for shit because not bright yellow
>cant grip for shit because small contact pavement on wet pavement isn't great
>get wet
>even if I have fucktons of rain gear to keep me mostly dry while riding I have to find somewhere to store a bunch of wet gear without it getting stolen while I'm at work/class
It's just not fun or convenient. Why do you insist everyone should like riding in the rain?

You obviously don't understand much about what you're talking about fella.

riding in the rain is fun as shit. it tests your riding skills, road craft, mental fortitude, and awareness. even if i made seven figures a year i'd still be riding a bike rain or shine because i fucking enjoy it. why? because i actually enjoy motorcycling, the entirety of it.

The 07 and 08 is a good CBR year. If you got a deal you made a good buy.
