Basically, in California, if there is anything in the manufacturing plant that can possibly cause cancer this label has to be put on the product. A friend of mine used to sell furniture that he bought from a company is California and a customer saw that label and flipped out. My friend called the company and asked wtf is with the label and they told him that because they used forklifts(electric and gas) to move their shit around in the plant and warehouse they had to put that label on.

Californias regulations are so fucked that they have to put this shit on everything. Ive even seen it on a food product once.

Perhaps, but more often than not it's due to micron particles in the furniture that can cause respiratory problems. This especially true for particle board and cheap Chinese cushions.

Due to deregulation, some items with lead that were once outlawed are allowed to contact the body again. As a result, california labeled such things with that standard warning.

China likes to use lead or other carcinogenic materials because it's cheaper. Leaded paint could be used to print that "Honda". Or the rubber itself could use lead or be contaminated with lead products due to a supplier to the moulding company.

For example, a lot of chinese metal zippers are made with an excess of lead. That causes zippers to be "stinky" after awhile.

That's not what those stickers mean. They're usually affixed to furniture or trim when varnish, paint or cushion filler is carcinogenic.
