>>
>>16648727
>why even buy a new anything
Because Tacoma pricing means that the only time you ever get a good deal on one is when you buy it new.
>>
>>16648727

That only really works for cars. Used trucks are either cheap and abused to hell or overpriced with high mileage.
>>
toyota trucks have a better historical track record and maintain their value longer
>>
>>16648783
I was seriously asking. Anything (besides comfort and warranty) you need in a trug, you can just get a 2008-2012 Colorado/Ranger/Tacoma for a third of the price. Then you can modify it from there to suit your needs. If you want something more comfy, get a wagon or an actual SUV.

OP I'm not trying to be rude but I'm gonna ask you again:
Why do you need a new trug?
>>
>>16648955
Because I want something with a manual transmission but I don't want a sports car because after driving a crossover all my life I hate low cars.

If you plan on keeping it for an extended period of time and using it like a truck, then absolutely neither one. Get a 3/4 ton anything and it'll last a lot longer.

If you plan on keeping it and using it like a car, then look at Tahoe/Yukon/Escalade.

If you plan on buying new and selling in 5-10 years (which is a horrible decision financially) then the Tacoma will probably result in the smallest loss assuming they maintain their current popularity bubble for that long.
>>
>>16648955
A 2012 Colorado is a design from 2003. A 2012 Ranger is a design from 1997. Fuck that.
>>
>>16648578
Neither. Get an old ranger with a 4 cylinder or a 7.3 powerstroke. Only lifestyle fags buy these.
>>
>>16649278
What's wrong with the design being old? Name actual things wrong with it, not just years, There are models from every year with good and bad things lasting into current year.

2012 Colorados don't exist. Only 2010s.
2012 Rangers don't exist. Only 2011s.

Sister has a Colorado, was with her when she test drove that and the Tacoma. The Tacoma felt like it had such a far reaching hood, and odd that it didn't have power seats.

I didn't test drive either but I have driven the Colorado after she got it I hate how it drives but otherwise it's not bad in other terms. Hate how big trucks got in general though, much bigger than the 03 Frontier it replaced.
>>
>>16650188
The hood is fairly massive from the drivers seat. And I'm the only one that drives so manual seats didn't bother me.

I do wish trucks the size of ranger and s10 made a comeback, although it'll never happen

Just a i4, 6spd auto 2wd SR model. Just moved from Texas to Alabama, did 75+ the whole way with a loaded bed and averaged 22-24mpg highway.

Future plans:
-aggressive tires with basic black rims
-light bar up front
-leveling kit
-some form of overland basket that's held over the bed (if anyone knows where I can get one, that would be appreciated)

If you're using it as an A to B, weekend warrior, toss a dirt bike in the back or do some amateur trailing, its all you'll really need. It hovers at 2100 rpms at 75-80 all day, has enough get up and go so you dont feel like you're risking death everytime you merge with traffic (now granted, you're gonna lose just about every race). My only complaint about it is that you will lose speed going up hill until it drops gears, and (this may be a tacoma thing now, not just the i4) the throttle seems numb so you actually have to move it to gain 5mph, but ive noticed it at any speed, not just highway.

Ive driven a wide range of vehicles; motorcycles to big box trucks. But comparing it to the 4.3 V6 silverado i had before hand, its better in every way except that i cant make more noise (i know its weaker than the 4.3, but it doesnt feel like it).

>a roof rack system is more ergonomic to load than a retarded styleside bed.
Ladder racks will not hold up to the weight of a skid of plywood or drywall.
I'm not a carpenter or drywaller and we use 4x8 sheets of fiberglass and wood fiber insulation on a near daily basis. Ladder racks could be easier to load by forklift but they're quite a bit more difficult to unload by hand once you get back to the job.

Good trail tires =/= good prerunner tires
Good mud tires are often good on trails though. See BFG KM1/KM2, Super Swamper TSLs, Trail Grapplers, etc.
>>
>>16651036
You have a rack system mounted on a truck rated for the load.
I am a drywaller, and unloading sheet rock is indeed easier to handle off a roof rack than it is a styleside bed. But then, if you really were serious about using your pickup as a work vehicle, you wouldn't be dicking around with a styleside bed period.
