Ha good one...

No but closer, engine is painted, wiring is getting redone soon™. Waiting on two things, a new shift bar as it needs replacement and if I were to do it later its another casing split job AND trying to find a single piece copper head gasket is impossible for my motor size. I can get them in 1400cc and while its tempting I don't want to dump 6K bumping it up another 400cc

I started riding Jan. 95 and hit the track shortly after, so I was always watching guys like Gobert, Edwards... Scott Russell tho he was at the end of his career. Staying up till 2am to catch a superbike race on Speed channel. Good times.

Some people had so much talent but their personal demons got in the way. Gobert for sure; John Kocinski could have had a much more lucrative career if he wasn't such an insufferable cuntflap.

Less secondary imbalance and increased inertial torque. Basically, torque delivery is smoother, with fewer fluctuations around each power stroke. This means that delivery of torque to the wheel isn't interrupted by minor fluctuations, improving traction and allowing more torque pulses to be applied earlier on. It also allows slightly less complex clutch assemblies to be used.

In theory, it allows a bike to accelerate harder out of a corner. The disadvantage is that heavy balance shafts are required to combat the inherent rocking vibration caused by an irregular firing order.

Crossplane crankshafts aren't strictly necessary for road use on a motorcycle, but they do sound lovely. For race purposes though, they make perfect sense.

Thanks. Learned a new one (MPB) that I'll use.
Combination of luck and smart planning, I rode that beast all the way from Delhi to the Nubra valley/Pakistan and back without ANY problems except I changed out the spark plug 1/3 way through the trip. Not even one flat.
I had the bike completely rebuilt in Delhi before the trip and then spent a day with the mechanic practicing repairing anything that could go wrong.
One entire metal pannier was full of spare parts and tools. Only used a spare spark plug & 1/2 quart of oil.

It hasn't been scrapped as far as we know. Honda introduced a crossplane engine to the RCV213 for the start of last season, but they had delays through pre-season testing, meaning that their engines for the year weren't fully developed, giving them problems for the first few months.

Over winter testing for the 2017 season, they've brought two engines along, a refined 2016-type, and a new one, which is apparently already well developed, and sounds like it's still a crossplane model.

Probably going to return to Northern Vietnam. It's one of my favorite places to ride. Scenery is stunning and I like the people.

I have TOO MANY interesting stories to even begin to share here.
Riding through Cambodia in the early '90's was insane! Got kidnapped and held hostage in China.

I usually plan with maps first and then try to do as much research as possible, but you always end up altering some of your plan as the trip evolves.

Here's riding through the landmines of Cambodia. I'll throw up a few more random photos from Vietnam.

SV650S owner here, had it for 6 months.

I had read loads of stuff about it being a great all round bike and after being restricted to 125's for ages I brought one as my first big bike having test ridden some sports bikes and naked's .

I'm so unimpressed.

It is not fast, it's not comfortable, it's really not confidence inspiring in the corners due to a mixture of shoddy breaks and suspension.

Its like it's got the worst off all the bikes that it's trying to be. Sports bike comfort and ride position, commuter everything else. Better to do one thing well than 3 things badly.

I was planning on keeping it long term and turning it either into a track slag or using it winter hack bike, but I don't think it's really worth throwing good money after bad turning it into a track bike and don't particularly enjoy riding it or think it would make a good for winter hack bike.

Thinking of chopping it in and getting an 900 or 700 Tracer for touring and a GSXR-1000 or something for track.

Any opinions?

We are talking about the S model here, not the naked.

The money aspect is not entirely relevant here really. I understand that it's a budget bike, but the general consensus is that it's a bike that does many things if not everything well (http://44teeth.com/suzuki-sv650-best-bike-ever/) with even reviews like this. When my experience is that it does nothing well because it's trying to be something it isn't.

Its a Sports Tourer that isn't sporty and makes a bad tourer due to it's sporty pretence.

I rode a new ninja 636r for a while and it had a similar riding position and fatigue points after extended riding. It's far less comfortable over distance than my ybr125 was (ignoring the speed difference)!

Depends on the type of crash.

One thing is for certain every single time though: An immediate, heart-wrenching sense of dread as you run over to pick up your bike, praying that the damage isn't too bad. Your own injuries don't even hit you for another few minutes, unless they're particularly bad.

Webm related, I fractured my ankle when it got trapped under the bike, but I still got up, ran over and picked the bike up to check it was okay. About 2 minutes later, I was on the floor groaning, but at least the damage to the bike wasn't too bad, just a cracked alternator cover when it caught the curb.

I rode into a ditch while riding around off road and dislocated my shoulder.

I didn`t even feel pain when I forced the fucker back in. I picked up my bike rode home as fast I could washed it, and then took off the broken mirror.

When my father got back and saw the damage to the bike, the first thing he did was told me my arm was broken.

The other time I had a spill.
I has hit by a light jumper at about 40kph. I hit my head on a curb. I was told that my was I managed to phone my father, I only have memory from after I got back from hospital about 12 hours later. The last thing I remember is the licence plate of the car touching my leg.

It doesn't matter if you do the wheelie or not, it only matters why you do the wheelie.

Also, bring extra helmet just in case, and don't be weird about it. If she brings it up just be straight up "I brought it just in case." Rides are great because you don't have to talk and it forces you to break the touch barrier.

You get a more even response over a wide angle with fewer awkward sidelobes with a semi-random pattern. Also these new telescopes are designed to do a number of different things at the same time while the VLA was only designed to do one.
