Anything else?

not to mention your car dying in the said middle of nowhere. Extra points for losing parts of the van on the way.

The bottle of coolant and duct tape actually has been used once. A hose leaked enough coolant one time to trip the sensor on my truck. I Pulled over, waited a few minutes, cleaned off the hose, and duct taped the living hell out of it. Poured in some more coolant and plodded home.

I just keep my entire camping backpack in my trunk (pad, sleeping bag, tent, some food, other normal camping stuff). It's definitely not necessary, but if I ever get stuck in the middle of nowhere or I get stuck at work for a few days because of a blizzard, it's nice to have all that stuff. In the back I have a thick water resistant jacket if I have to get out while it's snowing, another rain jacket, some gloves, a few hadn tools, ice scraper/brush, and in the glove compartment I keep some de-icer, a mylar blanket, a window punch, and of course the owner's manual.

90% of that isn't necessary; all you need are things like a scraper, blanket, jacket and gloves, jumper cables, and maybe a little water/food/first aid. I live in a small town and drive long distances across remote areas during pretty much any weather year round, so it's nice to know I could shelter in my car for a couple days if it came to it, which is highly unlikely.

Bluetooth OBD adapter / charger for tablet & phone / $100 cash just in case.

Long trips add:
- Metric & SAE socket set
- Floor jack
- 2 jack stands
- Air compressor
- Torque wrench
- Breaker bar
- Set of metric & SAE end and allen wrenches

If I'm going to be driving ~6,000 miles, I'm going to be ready for it.

Had a coil pack go bad on me in BFE Utah last year. Was able to re-seat it and get the car to limp along to the nearest town, where I had a replacement overnighted to me.

>What are some things you guys keep in your car that's not a first aid kit.

Rubber floor mats because easy to vacuum or spray clean & can't hold mold/germs like carpets do.

TRUNK:
Rubber trunk floor mat
OEM cargo net

TRUNK ORGANIZER CONTAINER: manual air pump, turtle wax ICE detailer, windex, bounty papertowels, blue shop towel roll, car duster, full first aid kit box (can float too), touch up paint, 3x 39gal trash bags, 3x 13gal white trash bags, 4x microfiber towels, full fuse kit, 3 bungee cords, generic toolset).
OEM tire leak sealant, oem 12v compressor.
Cardboard boxes.
Duct Tape.
Zip Ties (8",4")

INTERIOR (rear passenger footwell):
Small trashcan with liner bag.
Dash camera 1080p.
2x 16oz bottled water
Fancy organizer box: bounty roll, wet wipes package, low lint plush toilet paper roll (blow nose), 2x microfiber, one waffleweave microfiber).
State, City, & bike/hiking trail maps

INTERIOR (glove compartment):
red mesh zip pouch: driver manual, registration, license platephoto, insurance card).
blue mesh zip pouch: (notepads, pens, pencil).
driving gloves, 120 lumen LED flashlight

CONSOLE:
800 lumen LED flashlight
mileage record book
misc.

HIDDEN:
Spare wallet $200 cash, variety bills.photocopy driver license.
Container $7 coins (quarters, dimes, nickels).
Swiss army knife.
Paper with various HOA gate codes, phonenumbers in case i forget or lose cell,AAA member number & phone #.

NOTES:
Hefty trash bag good for impromptu park meeting or picnic takeout, and if you poke hole for head, it is pseudo raincoat too. I have always had a small trash container by habit since my home state had a trashbag/container law for all cars due to everyone tossing trash on hiways. I use wipes a lot for face oil or dirty hands. Plush toilet paper is my favorite for blowing nose and I use the low-lint Members Mark brand from Sam's Club since they are 4.25 x 4 inch sheets and not tiny soakthru sheets of other brands.

For us Americans who can no longer buy normal gas cans new anymore and are forced to deal with ones that're like pulling back a foreskin to open 'em, buy a VP 5 gallon jug. It's about $33 accounting for the fact that you have to buy the nozzle, but it's the best thing on Earth.

I had TWO of those terrible gas cans. Eventually I replaced the first one with one that was lever actuated and actually fit in a filler neck without assistance and its valve started leaking after about a year.

If I had bought one of these, I'd still be using it a decade later and would've spent about the same.

Why scrape? you start the car, turn on the heating and turn on all the lights, get the sweeper, start sweeping the car.
by the time you are done, the frost is gone, and you can drive. if its not, scraping will not help as you have to have completely clean car anyway.

(Starting 2017 its illegal in our country (Czech) to have ANY snow on the car, fines are up to 100 usd)

Doesn't work in colder climates. Former delivery driver Swedecuck here, I drove a box van. Brushing snow off is a 30 sec job, there's no way you have time to let the air condition defrost your windows. I've had days were the snow has melted on the windscreen and then frozen again over night leaving a coat of ice twice as thick as the glass itself.

It is not unsafe because it is nuclear, it is unsafe because it has cracks in the reactor core, wich are up to 30cm long.
And pretty much every month something goes wrong in Doel or Tihange, last time it was a explosion in the non nuclear part.

>state law to have a trash bag in your car
>what fucking hellhole is that?

How dare they have such a law! The earth is my trashcan. Many years ago, Arizona had a litterbag law but it was repealed by the republicans during a deregulation phase of many laws. You can still report litterers at:

http://donttrashaz.com/highway-littering/report-a-violation/

Similarly, if you were familiar with previous Washington State litter laws and fines, you would have noticed that one of the more controversial laws is no longer listed in the fines chart. The $95 fine for failing to have a litterbag in your vehicle or watercraft (RCW 70.93.100) was effectively repealed in July of 2003. While there are many arguments that may have factored into its repeal, one of the more influential of these came from members of law enforcement. Some officers argued that there were several technicalities in the way the law was written that made it extremely unpopular to enforce.

The way the law was written made the offense a misdemeanor, REQUIRING a court appearance instead of just a citation. Secondly, patrol officers felt that if a person was not littering, they were meeting the intent of the law whether or not they had a litterbag. Due to these concerns, during the 2003 Legislative session, the fines for littering were increased to a sliding scale starting at $1000, and the litterbag law was repealed as a compromise with law enforcement.

You forgot to turn the engine on. The self-leveling compressors need power. Also, without power, the airbag system won't fire when it detects that a cue ball is about to scratch.

THE WASHINGTON POST: A man stopped to help two teens pull an SUV from a ditch. Then, they allegedly robbed and then killed him with a gun.
By Lindsey Bever August 17, 2016

Authorities in South Carolina said two teenagers have been arrested on murder charges after one of them allegedly shot and killed Chadwick Garrett, 45, who had just helped them pull an SUV from a roadside ditch.

Michael Odell Anthony Dupree-Tyler, 19, and Deon Antonio Frasier, 17, were denied bond on Tuesday in the shooting incident, which occurred Monday night in North Charleston.

“During the investigation, it was learned that the victim was assisting two black males in pulling a Dodge Durango out of the ditch,” Pryor said in the statement, which was emailed to The Washington Post. “After the victim got the vehicle out of the ditch the two suspects then robbed and shot the victim.”

After the shooting, a woman from the apartment where the suspects live called police and said the two teens had taken her SUV without permission. She gave a description of the vehicle as well as of Dupree-Tyler and Frasier, according to documents cited by the Charleston Post and Courier.

Once the woman got the vehicle back, however, she tried — unsuccessfully — to call off the police response.

Officers found the suspects at the apartment. After a brief standoff, police took the teens into custody.

Moses Garrett said it pained him to see that the accused in his son’s killing were so young.

Some people carry a lot of heavy non-car-related stuff with them everywhere. I don't know if that is because they don't trust that stuff to remain at home or because they actually use that stuff on the road.

>Garage door opener
With your car registration certificate, they have both your home address and a door key (garage door opener). It's a good thing that modern garage door openers shrunk in size to be like fobs since I carry it on me instead of leaving it in the car. Old style clickers were huge things that used 9-volt batteries. As a result, they were thicker than a 9-volt, obviously wider than a 9-volt, and had to be longer than a 9-volt. I'm glad the openers have moved on.
