There's a solid chance I'll be getting one of these in about a week. It's my mom's old car and they're basically giving it to me
It's A 2007 Passat 2.0T Wolfsburg
It's got a rebuilt title but my parents have had it for a few years and fixed all the problems it had but I'm still a little concerned because VWs aren't known for reliability. the FSI engine is prone to oil sledging
What are some things I can do to help minimize the likelihood of engine issues?

The 2.0t is ok, the old 1.8t is the engine that sludges like a bitch. The engine shouldnt be to bad. Most issues with VWs are electrical. But if it has made it this long you should be ok.

I can't really afford to buy anything right now because I'm in college and all of my mom is going towards that. I had $3,000 set aside for a car but my parents told me instead I had to spend it on a trip to ireland so I don't really have enough money. my old car needs a new transmission but the cost for that is more than the car is worth so it'd be a waste

My golf has the 2.5 though and it's been solid up to 125k. Regular oil changes, fixed a minor AC issue, but no engine fuckups

Yeah I've enjoyed driving it, it's a huge upgrade from my 90s accord.
It only has about 60,000 Mile's I think
