There's a solid chance I'll be getting one of these in about a week. It's my mom's old car and they're basically giving it to me
It's A 2007 Passat 2.0T Wolfsburg
It's got a rebuilt title but my parents have had it for a few years and fixed all the problems it had but I'm still a little concerned because VWs aren't known for reliability. the FSI engine is prone to oil sledging
What are some things I can do to help minimize the likelihood of engine issues?
Change the engine oil religiously and use whatever oil treatment from BG your mechanic recommends and you should be fine.

ya blew it

The 2.0t is ok, the old 1.8t is the engine that sludges like a bitch. The engine shouldnt be to bad. Most issues with VWs are electrical. But if it has made it this long you should be ok.
2 WHOLE LITERS AND A TURBO AND THEY COULDNT EVEN GET 250HP
THEY COULDNT EVEN MAKE IT RELIABLE
HELL THEY COULDNT EVEN AFFORD TO HAVE THEM MADE OUTSIDE OF MEXICO

ok budd lets calm down
also it's a wolfsburg but it's missing the badge. should I buy one?
>>16638604
Can you afford to fix it if it breaks? Can you afford to refuse it and buy something more reliable?

I can't really afford to buy anything right now because I'm in college and all of my mom is going towards that. I had $3,000 set aside for a car but my parents told me instead I had to spend it on a trip to ireland so I don't really have enough money. my old car needs a new transmission but the cost for that is more than the car is worth so it'd be a waste

My mother got a 2nd hand '04 VW Passat W8 maybe in 2008 or something
No problems and I think we've only changes the oil once
Those are so comfy, I have a golf and I test drove one of those before... So awesome, but it did have a small engine issue iirc

My golf has the 2.5 though and it's been solid up to 125k. Regular oil changes, fixed a minor AC issue, but no engine fuckups
>>16641359
>it's been solid up to 125k
>this is an achievement to VAGfags

Yeah I've enjoyed driving it, it's a huge upgrade from my 90s accord.
It only has about 60,000 Mile's I think
