no just buy literally any R6 from 2007 onwards because there's barely any change on the new model aside form

This is wrong.

Until the 2017 bike thats coming out, there has been no changes to the R6 since 2008.

The 2006 and 2007 bikes are similar but are slightly down on power because they didn't have the YCCI which beefed up the midrange. They also had slightly different tuning between the 2006-2007 and 2008-2016

Suspension has been the same from 2006 to 2016.

There were not any electronics rider aids till the 2017 bike.

The power your words have.
and because i am faster on it, the 300 is honestly too powerful for the riding i do, thing is nearly 60bhp and it only weighs 105kg so the front end never stays down and it makes it handle like shit when you are wanting to change directions fast.

plus i still have the 300, don't need a 450, it eats most of them for breaky.

Pomona was a railroad hub back in the day with tons of industry. If your drive through downtown you can see that there used to be big money in the city with the old buildings.

Now though it's gone to shit, rotten in the middle with low income housing and no jobs.

The outskirts are nice but its mostly the surrounding cities that are really nice now, Upland, Claremont/Montclair, Rancho Cucamonga/Alta Loma, Diamond Bar, etc.
>>
>>16617477
I don't have any problem with Mexicans honestly. Neighbors on both sides are of the brown skin variety and they are easy to get along with.

They leave me alone and i leave them alone. They don't complain about my parties or loud motorcycles, I throw their kids soccer balls back over the fence every once in a while, throw them a wave every time i see them. No issue at all.

Now San Bernardino... Fuck that place. It's only one city over from where I live and it's a shitshow top to bottom. I don't ever head that way unless I specifically want to go somewhere, like Chaparral Motorsports.

The 300 does every kind of riding with ease though. You can even lug the thing everywhere in 3rd if you're lazy.

I took mine up the beach and it tackled sand hills and soft tidal beaches with ease once I had my tyre pressures right.

And then the following week it was in woody fire trails with tight shit turns everywhere.

It's the most versatile two stroke I've ever owned and ridden.

That or the newer bike handles much better than the older bike can ever hope to handle.

that 300 has over $3000 spent on the suspension and the yz still handles better after two visits to the suspension specialist which only cost $1400, and it is not really a matter of power with dirt bikes it is power delivery.

Why do you think the 2017 ktm SX bikes have traction control?
to sound fancy maybe?
or because they make too much power?

It is kinda like how people in this thread make fun of Honda for being the least powerful MX bikes without knowing honda restricts their power on purpose because they know more than that is not needed.

Yup.
The first version of the DRZ400 was the DRZ400K which was a kick only dirt bike. You can still buy the kicker kit direct from Suzuki and put it on any of the models. Came very much in handy when I killed my battery a few days into the TAT.

Best way to clean exhaust pipes? I've got rust spots on them, and I want my bike to be pretty this year. The pipes could be chrome or aluminum. The bike has 69k miles on it when I bought it a month ago. It doesn't have any staining from the heat. So it's either a newer chrome exhaust, or the bike has aluminum.

Also, polishing that brass plated head. What's the best way to do that? I want it shining and bright.

The other stuff on the to do list:
>pull off that amateur black plastidip
>put on a different colour (I'm thinking yellow, probably plastidip, see how it looks before I paint it)
>clean and shine the engine
>buy the rest of the plastic covers and put them on, paint them to match
>replace the handlebar grips
>debating whether to keep the rectangular light or replace it with a round one
>either way, I'd like to have LED turn signals, brake, and head lights

>>16618109
A socket set and metric combination wrenches 6mm-17mm are important. Brand doesn't really matter that much, but I would recommend getting something with a lifetime warranty for any tools with moving parts. Torque wrenches aren't that important IF you have some experience wrenching and can feel how tight things should be. I just pick up the more specialized tools as I need them for whatever jobs. For changing the chain you'll want a chain breaker or a grinder to grind away one of the link pins for breaking the chain. Also a chain link press tool for putting on the new link. Also maybe master link clip pliers.
>>
>>16618121
LEDs are a meme, especially on vehicles. They have generators constantly generating electricity anyway so the power consumption is a moot point. LED headlights suck, especially when people just drop an a LED bulb into a reflector meant for halogens. They can be okay for brake lights though, if they are done properly. And 99% of LED turn signals are garbage chinkshit.
>>
>>16618137
That does seem like a lot of work. I'll probably do the pipes, and if I have the time, I'll blast the engine.
And thanks for the heads up on the relays. Of course the relays on my Radian are mechanical. It's an '86. It has glass tube fuses. Real old school.
I wonder if I could rent a media blaster of some sort. And whether water, sand, or silicone would do best.
>>
>>16618379
>naval jelly and rags
Nooooo Navel jelly is (mostly) phosphoric acid, which will convert the rust into iron phosphate which won't do you any good on chrome. Use Brasso (or mothers, etc.) on the chrome.
>>
>>16618109
torque-wise I go by:
Bendy allen key for M6 down
Tight as it was when I took it off minus a bit for corrosion for most other stuff
Red-faced tight for anything on the drivetrain

Not a tool, but any sort of bolt release penetrant spray will help, wd40 will probably work if you cant get anything else, or a hammer if all else fails.

Would also recommend having some cap head bolts on hand to replace any phillips.
>>
>>16618364
But bright white lights and not dim yellow ones.
Also being able to have sequential led signals would be boss. Especially for the brake light.
>>16618405
I'll look up what both of these will do. Brasso might be the way to go. Especially if it will shine up the brass plated top.

I don't think you understand what I'm saying. Some LEDs (not the chinkshit) produce more light than your typical halogen bulb. However the light is cast in a different manner so it is incompatible with a headlight reflector designed for halogen bulbs. You will produce a blinding glare to everyone else and not even be able to see better because the light isn't focused downroad. If you want better headlights then fit in a HID using a PROPER HID PROJECTOR NOT JUST A HID KIT IN THE HALOGEN REFLECTOR.

As for the turn signals: again, they're almost all super dim garbage. The light output is so directional and dim it's literally useless. Might as well just take off you signals alltogether if you want that look and just use hand signals because little LEDs won't do shit for you. However there are some decent little LED signals but you have to be willing to spend enough money.

You don't know shit about vehicle electronics. A higher constant current draw will wear out every single electric component upstream faster. That includes your R/R, relays and battery. Also if you have any modern bike with any sort of microprocessors or other computing equipment, google "electromigration". Yes, it's a real phenomenon, read Wikipedia or any scientific article ever. Yes it will wreck processors and chips over time, particularly ones exposed to higher draws and/or adverse environments, both of which are very likely on a motorcycle.

>>16618739
I beg to differ, I paid $15 for a pair of chinkshit LED blinkers from DX.com and $25 for a chinkshit LED rear light from Amazon and they're significantly brighter than the OEM 5W bulbs in the blinkers and 35W bulb in the rear light while having 10-15 times the lifetime and using less than half the electricity. Are you stuck in the early 2000's or something?

The gravitational force of a 200 kg bike is around 2 kN.
Multiply by ratio of truck bed height to rail length. That's the force you need to keep the bike where it is (assuming no friction which would assist you keeping it steady but resist you pushing it, and inertia).

So e.g. with a 200 kg bike, a truck bed height of 1m and a rail length of 2m you need a force of around 1 kN which is like loading up lmao2plaet and just standing there without squatting. Even the lankiest skeleton can do that.

Not talking about headlights, I agree with you on those. Either do it properly or not at all. I'm talking about blinkers and rear lights.

I've owned a variety of motorcycles. From a 53' hardtail with a jockey shift to a R1. I like riding but I've never really fallen in love with any particular bike I've had. Now with spring around the corner, I'm starting to get the itch. It's been 2 years since I sold my last bike which was a cafe style 80' KZ 1000. I'm looking on CL and used sport bikes are extremely cheap in my area for some reason, so I'm leaning towards one of those but I don't know. I kind of want something I've never had and the whole supermoto trend "looks" fun. I do mostly city riding so comfort isn't really a factor. But it just seems odd that a 400 cc dirt bike with street tires is 2k more than a sport bike. The resale industry is kind of strange now, no? Or am I overthinking this?

yes, it's called meme tax. buy one with normal sized wheels and it's usually about $1000 cheaper but still more expensive than a sport bike.

That's what I thought but this isn't my first rodeo. One of the R1s I came across was a 2009, I believe. Maybe 2008. Had 11k miles, all service records and stock parts, plus a set of unpainted plastics. 3500$. I called the guy, he seemed pretty knowledgeable in all aspects of the bike. He sounded older and it turns out he works with my brother in law. He's dropped the price almost 1800 over the winter because it's not selling. I gave him my email and he sent me gigs of photos of the bike in various stages of it's existence, PDFs of the service records etc... Shit. I could start at 2600 and see what he does.

The sport bike market has always been flooded with incredible deals. Any early 2000s GSXR or ZX are all dirt fucking cheap. You can get even cheaper if you start exploring bikes like the F4I which are still incredible bikes for all intents and purposes (100~ whp)

Anyways, I suspect there are a lot because these bikes are completely overbuilt. They are literally purpose built race bikes designed to be red lined for 99% of their time on the planet but a lot of the people that buy these just ride them on the street so they are understressed in many ways. GSXRs literally go 30,000 miles before they need a valve adjustment. Dirt bikes, dual sports, etc... need them done every 100 feet

>>
>>16619240
Not all dirt bikes and dual sports are motocross bikes ya dingbat, my WR250X's valve check interval is 20k.

Also supermotos are relatively expensive since they only were invented about 20 years ago and weren't nearly as popular for a while after that. You can't just go buy a stock early 2000's supermoto anywhere like you can with a sportbike.
>>
>>16619139
Not that guy, but what's unbelievable about someone having an R1? They're cheap as hell and everywhere.

If it helps my insurance is 700€/yr
>>
>>16619278
unless you live in some socialist shit hole, insurance rates are predicated largely on what you want to insure outside of the bare minimum. when people come on here talking about insane insurance rates, its because they are paying for comprehensive and collision which simply protects the bike but isn't mandatory. if you buy some used sv650, you don't need comprehensive or collision. if you're a dumbass and buy a brand new R3 for $6k, yeah you might want comprehensive to protect your investment but you're a retard in the first place for buying an R3 so what does it matter

tl;dr its cheap

I just went out and tried to charge up my battery. The charger would instantly jump to "charged" even though it is pretty obvious the battery is completely dead. I did a quick test of my stator too and it had resistance in all the right places so I guess that means my battery is the sole source of the problems, not the stator or charger. Should I upgrade to a lithium battery? Do they last longer or have a higher capacity?
>>
Not sure if I should spend lots of money on a nice adventure tourer or just get a shitbike like a bandit 600 from the 90s.

The battery is shorted internally, so completely 100% irreversibly dead. It's shorting through the terminals, hence giving back charging voltage, that's why the charger thinks it's full.

Lithium batteries are smaller, lighter, maintenance-free and have more cycles than a regular lead-acid

Short of drilling and bolting the two together, I wouldn't recommend this. I'd be too nervous that the two would fold in on each other if the bike was too close to the center. Zip ties likely wouldn't hold up to the weight and would fail. I k ow it's too late now, but I would recommend a wider ramp. I have a single ramp like yours and had a tough time off loading my GSXR from a trailer that was quite low. It wanted to twist and rotate to the side because the bike wasn't perfectly centered.
