Legally can I have two different insurences for 2 different cars in California?
One car I daily but the insurence is under my parents name since it's there car but I believe I'm listed as the primary driver since it was my first car.
I just bought another and plan to register this one under my name but in a different insurance company since AAA is cheaper I believe. The insurance will be paid by me under my name as a "pleasure/weekend car" since it's not my current daily since I'm doing repairs on it yet I drive it every now and then.
The big problem is that I don't want it under the same insurance company since they have no idea about the car and I'd like to keep it that way for reasons being that I wanna bring it home when it doesn't look like a rust bucket hahaha.

I don't see why not. But be aware that all insurance companies share information. This is why you can't jump ship with one insurance company to another insurance company because you have a horrible track record with it. Everything you did will be brought to the insurance company you want to go with.
