How's the wind noise with the little windshield?

I've got a naked bike, and I prefer the look and lack of plastic, and I don't get fatigued by the wind. But the noise..

I've tried to fit some aftermarket windshields before and they actually made it worse no matter how I adjusted them (tried smaller and larger ones). Less wind on my chest but none stopped the noise at my ears.

Considering getting a faired bike next, but haven't test ridden any.

Wear ear plugs like hearos or other high fidelity ones. Wind noise is what causes hearing damage in the long run on bikes. But it does help when you tuck in.

I do wear plugs. And to be fair I have a relatively cheap helmet. But it's the fact that the windshields i tried actually made it worse that scares me. Got way more buffeting and inconsistent air flow with the shields on, wouldn't wanna live with that after the naked bike.

Depends on the design. Chinkshit levers can have problems properly actuating any plungers and switches because of the poor QC. One will always have the brake light on, the other will always be depressed just a little, etc

As long as your brakes are literally just a cable and all light-related switchgear is operated by something other than the lever they're fine, otherwise get out your dremel and some JB weld

Hey /dbt/,

/trv/fag here. I'm looking to buy a new or used bike that I can take on a Pan-American trip from Michigan to either Panama or Argentina, depending on how much time and money I can afford losing. While I've only just begun planning, I'm hoping to depart either in May or September of next year. This is essentially going to be my graduation gift to myself.

Don't have a huge budget and am trying to find something reliable and suitable for long-distance adventure-touring under $10k. Seems like a toss-up between the KLR 650 and V-Strom 650, with my inclination being towards the Wee.

Few people have suggested the BMW 650 GS and CB500x.

Any other ideas?

KLR and CB500x are both around $6500 new. I think the V-Strom is a couple thousand more.

Bit out of my budget really but thanks.
For reference, the zxr400 is a 92 model, 27k miles. Bought it for £1200, only thing that was wrong with it was the downpipes were riddled with holes, but a new set only cost £180.
Though obviously a v4 is more desirable than a lowly i4.
good luck with the sale!

>>16602856
It could be something draining your battery or not charging it enough, but right now your battery is dead. Hard to troubleshoot what it is when it's not running so try to jump it if you have friendly neighbours.

My grandpa broke his wrist riding.
Never saw a doctor. It healed crooked. Broke it a second time. Never saw a doctor. Healed even more crooked.
Still rides just fine.

Yeah everyone does this in any form of automotive scene, sure you shit on the guy with the Harley a little but at the end of the day you both love the same thing, the freedom of being on two wheels.
>>
>>16603327
Maybe he's just a weak wristed faggot. Should have jerked off more, maybe he wouldn't have had kids then and we wouldn't have to deal with your idiocy.
>>
>>16603225
It was
I'd only recommend it on a CVT
Makes for very precise shifting, but shitty take offs

Someone has daddy issues
Or maybe your grandpa diddled you?

sup, debating spending $900 on a 2001 100cc dirtbike before I actually purchase my 'real' bike (Kawasexi 3hunnit/2fiddy) was wondering if the investment is worth the practice I get. thoughts?

never ridden before, but I consider myself a pro at riding actual bicycles, been riding for basically my entire life and past 2 years to and from school(ik it's cheesy but still I know ppl who have never ridden bikes and the point is I have basic balance skills balance)

should I buy it? the guy said it starts up after 3 tries max, and runs great. I just think it'd be a good bike to practice with before I get a real bike, to drop and fuck up, as opposed to a $3k Kawasexi
>>
>>16603338
I was obviously joking, I'm an autist who despises cruisers even in real life, not only on the internet.
But it's kind of funny the first gesture I've ever received was from a cruisercuck.
>>
>>16603359
Ive gotten waves even on my sketchy homemade moped around where I'm from
>>
>>16603358
Get an xr100 if youre looking at any 100cc bikes.
>>
>>16603358
I wouldn't.
>>
>Fireblade is almost as much as a panigale 1299
lol what is honda doing these days? Who would buy that?
>>
>>16603358
That's a great idea. I did that with a 125 for a month.
>>
>>16603375
wat? a panigale is like $5-6k more
>>
>>16603365
Fact is that no one but me is riding here right now.

No it's not lmao

Panigale 1299 is actually cheaper than it, Panigale 1299 S is a little bit more expensive.
>>
>>16603400
how the hell do you get an XR100 plated?
>>
>>16603403
In my state it just needs a headlight and tail light.
>>
>>16603400
how much do they cost?
>>
>>16603403
>headlight
>taillight
>horn
? is it not like that in every state?
>>
>>16603402
Where do you live? And are you sure they're the same currency? One of those just says $ and the other says C$.

Here in the USA, the Panigale is $26k and the CBR SP is $20k
>>
>>16603416
How much does what cost?
A stock XR100 is usually under $1000 used.
Older generations are $500 or so.
Motard conversion would depend on your laws and your taste.
>>
>>16603417
You can't get plates for off-highway vehicles here
>>
>>16603422
Yeah they're both in Canadian, no way would the US Panigale be more expensive than the one here, our dollar is like 3/4 of yours right now.
>>
>>16603422
Are you looking at the Panigale R or the Panigale 1299?

actually scratch that, you can, but there has to be an emission-legal cert from the manufacturer for the vehicle

>>16603433
well i just googled it, and it is

>>16603438
I was looking at the 1299 S and 1000RR SP.

I googled it for canada and got the same $23,999 for the honda, but the duc is $27.5k

maybe it tried to detect your/my location and got it wrong or something
>>
>>16603447
Ok, well the Panigale 1299 and 1299 S are 2 different bikes and I specified that right here >>16603402

Honda's official US website doesn't list an MSRP for the 1000RR SP, but the base model is under $17k
>>
Is it bad to show up to a job interview on the motorcycle?
>>
>>16603452
The base 1299 is still more expensive than the base CBR by $3k in the US

With that, do you have to keep your hand like pic related to cover the brake and throttle at the same time? Seems uncomfy as fuck.

I did it, brought my meme helmet into the interview room and still got the job.
>>
>>16603460
I dunno if you can tell just by the image, but basically you can use it just like a normal throttle, by twisting the wrist and sliding it on your thumb or You move it more central and use the thumb

Since i had a broken throttle i just rigged one up, but decent ones are pretty comfy

Wouldn't recommend if you're never driven an ATV on tarmac
>>
>>16603468
