leave it any longer and you'll eventually get sludge which is pretty annoying to clean, usually requires multiple flushes and a new oil filter
>>
>>16596611
New pic of your shitbox or fuck off.

Purposely changing the OP to get a reaction from people is pretty autistic, Falcunt.

No

i dont have anything here atm

jeep is in a million pieces
>>
>>16596625
you know its me because its bad advise desu.

Well technically not bad advise i had to flush sludge out of a old tractor because my dad never changed the oil in over 300 hours so it took like 10 litres and a new filter but still worth it.
>>
>>16596616
Oil usually darkens since it's picking up all the shit and suspending it in the oil. It's nothing to worry about really but still, get it changed in the next 1k kms if you really want to.
>>
>>16596638
The oil viscosity is probably fucked once it heats up tho once it starts to turn black it starts to lose its protective properties and goes too thin/thicc

depends on the age/kms of your car/how much you care about the car.
under 10 years/100,000km every year or 10,000km
over 10 years/100,000km every 6 months or 5,000km
granted youre using a non-synthetic oil. if synthethic you can get away with 10,000-15,000 even 20,000 if youre brave enough.
>>
>is it hard to change an exhaust
No.

>will a $3-400 ebay (rhino) 2.5' catback be half decent
No, Spend your money on something. or you can delete your catalytic converter and put a straight pipe inside the cat converter so that it looks stock, chop the exhaust off behind the diff and it will sound nice.

>will any VZ SS 5.7 exhaust fit my 6.0 thunder
No idea, why would you do that? Buy some decent extractors and then do what i said above. Just unbolting the stock exhaust tip bit (axleback) will give it a decent note.
>>

the cars 23 and using semi-synthetic oil. the mechanics i've been to usually recommended 10,000kms but i ususally did it at 9. this time its only at 7 and looks pretty dark.
>>
>>16596707
Replace it, No point having no power steering.
>>
>>16596707
all 3 of my cars do this

just fix the bloody hoses and fittings i cant be fucked.

most leak out of the filler cap and back of the pump just usually requires a tweak
>>
>>16596726
>had power steering leak
>turned out it was the hoses
>replaced
>refilled power steering fluid to the exact perfect mark on the stick
>but i keep finding the reservoirs outside covered in it
>clean it
>still keeps happening
>fluid level hasn't changed at all
What the fuck is going on.
>>
>>16596717
I've had cars come in for servicing 5k overdue and the colour is fine, fairly high km on the clock too
>>
>>16596720
>>16596726
cannot be fucked.
its an absolute cunt of a job, the lines run under the sump, behind the motor, next to exhaust manifold.
slow leak too, easier to top up when neccessary.
>>
>>16596735
it could be small cracks in the resevoir itself.
liquid seeps out then accrues dust which may make the leak look bigger than what it is.
>>
>>16596736
its usually been pretty good for the first few thousand kms but then i usually forget to check the oil around this time since its close to servicing anyway.

its got well over 300k kms on the clock so i imagine that might have something to do with it too.
>>
>>16596742
Lol, Just do that then, put bathroom silicone over the leaking area and leave it. You'll be surprised how good selleys bathroom shit actually is, I fixed a leak in my commos exhaust when the gaskets were shit, put the bathroom shit on both sides and made sure it covered it and it didn't leak or do anything bad for the 2+ years i drove it afterwards.
>>
>>16596717
i'd go every 5,000 with a thicker conventional oil if it's that old.
>>
>>16596735
pump/resovroir is probably "Breathing" when it gets hot.

Make sure the seal in that cap it tight, i wondered what the fuck was going on with mine so i put some red high temp silicone on it and it fixed it
>>16596742
Thank fuck p/s is easy on the falcon, jeep and calais.
>>16596746
9/10 its the filler cap leaking once it heats up.
>>
>>16596749
yeah definitely go the thick conventional if its that old and that many k's
>>
>>16596746
That's possible then. The level is pretty much exactly or almost exactly where I filled it to originally but the whole thing is covered in damp dirt.

>>16596753
>pump/resovroir is probably "Breathing" when it gets hot.
That was my other guess too but the caps on as tight as it can be.
>>
>>16596757
>That was my other guess too but the caps on as tight as it can be.
check the rubber seal, i had to flip mine over and make sure it wasnt leaking with that silicone sealant.

Alternatively the rack itself could be leaking which isnt uncommon
>>
>>16596751
>>16596755
if i recall right its on 20-50w. is that thick enough or should i get thicker? if you can get thicker, i dont actually know how thick you can go.

is there anything wrong with using semi-synthetic over conventional though? even possibly fully synthetic?
>>
>>16596760
I doubt it's the rack, the reservoir is pretty far from it and is pretty high up. It's definitely the reservoir. But since the level is fine and it's only getting a little dirty, I don't really care.
>>
>>16596762
might be a bit too thick 20-50w will have trouble lubing some engines at higher rpm in the corners.

You COULD use oil stabilizer but you really shouldnt.

Just normal 15-40 should be more than enough for a older engine unless its absolutely rooted and clearances are all fuqt.

What engine and car m8?
>>16596768
Ok check the back of the pump and the front near the pulley

when i say ages i mean since i got here like a decade ago
>>
>>16596762
that's probably good enough.
not really, semi or full synth are good for engines with low tolerances like newer euro/jap stuff or modified cars. that being said you can use semi or conventional in such car's as long as it meets the ratings for additives etc.
semi or conventional is also much cheaper than fully synthethic. up to you really, but that many k's i'd really go a thicker conventional or semi like what youre using.
>>
>>16596776
I have never had a problem in all the years I've been here until this gook took over, when moot was in charge the worst you had was a 30 minute crash
>>
>>16596670
>>16596676
if you can weld, have a lift and a mate and a slab to give said mate afterwards, it can be pretty easy. There's an old mcm video before they got shit about how to perform one.

A 5.7 theoretically SHOULD fit the 6.0, provided it's from the cat back (not sure if the whole exhaust system would fit). If the exhaust was restricted from the factory, wouldn't you want to go better than cat-back though?

I'd check a holden forum, maybe ls1.com.au or something.
>>
>>16596781
alright i'll stick to semi-synth and pretty thick. i checked the oil just now since the car was running about 2 hours ago and the oil seems to appear more like a dark brown than black, so its not too bad.

i'll still do it next week anyway.
>>
>want to change oil at home
>car too low to get under to do the sump

what do lads?
>>
>>16596814
>invest in a jack or park it somewhere you can get under
>drain it
>pour in to milk bottles
>dump at local supercheap
>>
>>16596808
Oh, I forgot to mention, by "lift" I mean any way to get your car up to a decent height safely. You don't need a full on lift. Just go to an exhaust shop. And although a 5.7 would fit, unless you're getting it for free, I wouldn't bother.

Cat deletion isn't necessary. You don't need to pump out fuck-off fumes into the ozone to squeeze out the extra 5hp. Just get a less restrictive muffler, or all-out delete it.

Just save up a bit. A couple weeks savings will leave you happy with the exhaust, as opposed to having to get it properly done later. You shouldn't need to spend any more than $1000.
>>
>>16596821
>dump at local supercheap

Look up how much it takes and put about 300ml to half a litre less then start it, give it about 2 minutes all sink down from the head then check and adjust

as long as the dipstick if completely covered in oil before starting it then you will be fine, turn it off as soon as the oil pressure light goes away. make sure the car is level too
>>
>>16596837

so run it for two minutes? and running it with about half a litre less than max wont do anything bad?

im a nervous cunt about this kind of thing.
>>
>>16596859
They wouldn't mate, but I wouldn't mind being included in their car shit too they're all nice blokes and cluey with wrenching, so if I ever needed a hand working on shit I know I've got cunts that know what they're doing and can source me a shitton of parts.

I mean, it's no big deal with a falcodore, but still the inclusion is a nice thing.
>>
>>16596861
say your car takes 5 litres, put about 4.5l in then start it IF the dipstick is showing that it is either on full or overfilled, turn it off as soon the oil light goes away, if the light doesn't go away then turn it off and double check your sump plug and filter

allow a minute or two for the oil to settle back in the sump before checking it, saves you getting a false reading

when you remove the filter, wipe the filter housing clean and make sure the gasket came off, smear oil on the new filter gasket and put it on as tight as you can by hand only

check and adjust until it's in the full mark, also fill it on level ground or you will get a false reading and overfill, if your car uses copper washers then get a new one

it's easy as fuck m9, if you overfill a little then just crack the sump plug and let a little out
>>
>>16596876
Forgot to say, if your car uses canister oil filters instead of spin ons you might need special tools depending on the cap type, but other then that it's the same shit

you get O rings with the filter and you replace them all

what car btw?
>>
>>16596852
Do you want a daily or a fast car, or both?

Mazda 3 SP25/MPS,

Xr6t,
WRX,

dunno, would not pick anything you have chosen imo.

If he's looking at Jap crap the XR6T and SS (especially the Falcon utes) probably wouldn't be as ideal for Jap shitbox activities like mountain driving or hardpark-and-jerks.

3 MPS is a good one, and probably cheaper than a WRX to insure. Skidlines are cop magnets but if he's not living around ethnics the theft issue might be a little less prevalent. Don't quote me on that, though.

gday, im currently trying to find someone who will insure my xr6 turbo before i go out and buy one in a couple of weeks. im a p plater and as to be expected the prices are expensive as fuck. does anyone know any good cheap insurance companies or under 25yo?
so far the only way im gonna be able to aford comp insurance is making my mum the primary owner and driver of the car to bring the price down

cheers for any suggestions

aami owned justcar, go for them. don't go full comp for your first car. What's your budget? I doubt you'd be able to get a non-thrashed xr6 turbo in a first car budget.
>>

Top fucking kek.

AAMI, $3900/yr.

AAMI asked for 3800 and valued the car at $6000 with a $3000 excess. fuck that its like write your car off in the first year or pay your cars worth in two years in premiums even if you dont

ill look into shannons, i only have a carport so they might tell me to fuck off also,
i also heard they wont insure someone under 25 unless you have a clean record, which isnt a problem with me

ill give them a call, is it comarable to just car?
>>
>>16597137
Nah, they're much more expensive.
>>
>>16597139
fuck. how the fuck does shannons stay in business if its expensive af but just car has such better prices and goes out of business. i would asssume it would bring in a ton of younger drivers compared to the other companies trying to ass fuck you for comp insurance

>I wanted to get something kinda unique for a first car (anything that isn't a shitty bland and generic Toyota Corolla or Ford Focus)

Buy a shitbox and learn to properly drive in it first, buying a nice car as your first is a bad idea because you will make mistakes, and you will damage the car in some way

Better to wreck a shitbox and learn from it, then buy the nice cars and fuck it up
>>
>>16597175
Yeah Christ don't buy a nice car to learn on you'll wreck it
>>
>>16597145
Shannon's was pricey for me too. Depending on the age of the car I know a lot of people getting ripper deals with RACV 'classic' insurance. Car only has to be 15 years old or so.

Or try Lumley's, I insured my Supra with them and got 25k cover for $1k a year.
>>
>>16597175
and by properly I mean getting reverse parking and parallel down to a T, and at least learn to control it if the ass was to swing out... everyone should be taught this tbqh

i talked to them about an xr6t and they said they wont fuck with high peformance cars for under 25s and the only exeption is like a turbo diesel where it isnt really super fast.

although the woman told me that if youre not the primary driver yuou can still drive a 'high peformance car'. the primary driver pays their usual amount and the younger driver (me) just has to have a bigger excess (e.g $400 becomes $750)
>>
>>16597386

At least our version NRMA are fucking horrid, they outsourced everything and its the worst insurer we have.
>>
>>16597391
isnt that for NSW drivers?

RACT is probably one of the most popular insurers for standard cars here,

>ewww
whats wrong with that? paying the price of my mum whos never been in an accident butjust paying a bigger excess? i think thats better than paying fucking more than half the insurers percieved value of the car a year.

i bet you if you werent in a skyline you wouldnt have had any accusations made which is kinda obv but still thats one reason why i wont fuck with a skyline on top of many other reasons.

For all anons who were concerned the other night in the team india vs whitey debate.

The whitey's keen on me but doesn't want a serious relationship (Sounds like she botched her last one) and basically said go fuck other women too. Hitting the indian this weekend (after dinner with the whitey tonight and beach with the whitey tommorow)

Car behaves exactly like it always has so i'm going to throw a new one in and see if it makes any difference. Brake parts still haven't been delivered and i'm yet to purchase tyres (kind of holding out for the 4 for 3 potenza deal but i know it won't be on for months and months and my current tyres aren't round so i get nasty shakes at 100kph

>20% discount on the $20,000 upon completing the apprenticeship (basically free $4,000)

this sounds like a really good setup considering the ways a bank will fuck you if you loan $20,000 from them.
what do you guys think? i'm leaning towards taking it.

seems like a pretty big risk these days, whos underwritten the loan?
>>
>>16601825
It's paid in small increments in each paycheck spread over your 4 years, you get a few grand each year max

I thought about it but despite being interest free it's still debt I don't want
>>
>>16601849
how does it work exactly? Government set up?
>>
>>16601851
Yeah it's all goverment run, it's a HECS debt, you get it in small increments and you can take as much or as little as you want

It's completely interest free but as soon as you hit a certain income they grab you by the balls and make you pay it back
>>
>>16601855
>it's a HECS debt
More like Hex debt i love how poor people have to take out loans when these government cunts just live life like their rich ripping off the average tax payer

HECS is a fucking SCAM
>>
>>16601849
>>16601844
its something like 8000 in year 1, 6000 in year 2, 4000 in year 3 and 2000 in year 4.
you get installments monthly.
e.g. $666.667/month(2spook) in the first year
the way they've set it up is still a massive incentive to do the apprenticeship with the way more young people do uni over a trade.
debt seems to be unavoidable with these things like houses and education, cars not as much.

Thinking about picking up an R32 GTST
What're the running costs? Mainly plan to baby it and watch it appreciate because muh American market, hard park it at car meets and watch kids drool, but I'd like to get an idea of general maintenance info and costs before I do. Aiming for a stock or close to stock example

At the running costs of a GTR I'd rather finance a new Evo X and have a better car tbf. As far as AWD for the price there is much better.

Nope, I'm a resale faggot. I got hooked on it when the CRX my gramps gave me for 500 bucks got sold for 4K because it was stock and well kept. Even had an auto but I doubt the guy planned to even keep it in one piece much less cared about the tranny

>At the running costs of a GTR I'd rather finance a new Evo X and have a better car tbf. As far as AWD for the price there is much better.
up to you bud, what we're saying is the GTR is a BETTER car, if you want a GTST go for it but the basic bitch r32 only got the rb20 and its not as good, alot of cunts swap in a rb25/26
>>
>>16602081
Just dunno about spending more than 20k on something I plan on flipping. That goes from a fun little hobby to a full blown risk at that point.
>>
>>16602067
Nothing wrong with a GTS-T. R32 and R33 GTS-T are almost 150kg lighter than GT-R and in the R33s case the RB25DET is still an excellent engine.

>>16601979
Main issue with R32 GTS-T is the RB20DET isn't really anything special performance wise. You're also way too late they've already tripled in price since becoming US legal.

>>16602088
I wouldn't bother importing an R32 GTS-T if your intention is appreciating and selling. RBs aren't the cheapest engines in the world to own and the R32 GTS-T only got the RB20DET which isn't very desirable.

There's a massive difference in capability between the GTS-T and GT-R when it comes to R32. Less so in the R33 and R34 thanks to the RB25DET.
>>
>>16602080
But the 32 gts-t isn't going to raise in price significantly. At best, you'll get back what you paid for it.

I'm sorry, but if you have such a low budget, there are better things to invest in than cars. Some cars appreciate insanely (e.g. enzos, special edition porsches and ferraris, gt40s etc).

The GT-R is a fun car with little maintenance costs provided you inspect one before buying. The RB26 is easy to maintain. The AWD is great, just turn off the rear wheel steering.
>>
>>16602096
Problem is, if you get an r33 gts-t, you have to wear a blindfold everytime you approach the car. Christ it's ugly. The GT-R is okay, but the proportions are still wrong.
>>
>>16602088
Lol dont flip a GTR if you get one, keep it.
>>16602097
This.

the GTST are all raped into the ground

+1 for disabling the HICAS its weird.
>>
>>16601979
it will not appreciate at all
with time it will depreciate like a rock as more year models are allowed to be brought in raising the supply. demand will always be the same, possibly dwindling as the "wow skyline" factor wears off.
if you get lucky and find a clean cheap import that fits your bill you may be able to flip it for some profit... but hundreds of other people are doing that in the states so good luck
>>
>>16602111
>possibly dwindling as the "wow skyline" factor wears off.
this.

There was a HUGE influx of skylines in the 2000's here in aus and probably even more now as the japs are thoroughly sick of them and skid them into oblivion
>>
>>16602115
I'm noticing a lack of GTS-Ts and more GT-Rs in Australia (GT-Rs are probably at a similar amount, just maintained well since the R34s are worth like 80k here). The bogans have thrashed all our GTS-Ts into oblivion and what the fucks the point of importing a car worth less than a v8 commonwhore?

It'll be almost eerie to watch the R33 GTST take the disgusting decline they did here in the early 2000s - early 2010s, it started right as the whole showcar ricer style began. I hope something similar happens in America.
>>
>>16602129
You are a cuck for driving a camry. Probably a gook too. At least you'll have more time to reflect on life when you're dropping your wifes kids off at school with the automatic.

>>16602132
But i reckon if we wreck all the GTST's wont they start to appreciate as they get rarer? Surely the yanks wont get over them as quicky as we did.

>>
>>16602138
Yeah... maybe. If you can stand looking at the eyesore that is the R33 gts-t. I feel like they will. Kids that grew up watching fast and furious will have the money (or at least should) to afford an R34 GT-R by the time they're legal there. If anything, the r33s will become more useless after that happens. Maybe people will part the shitbox GTS-T engine and transmission and put them in the 32 body, to ensure their good-looking shitbox actually goes fast.

>just turn off the rear wheel steering.
The updated HICAS is fine in R33 and R34. It has issues in the R32 because it's hydraulic and old.

>>16602099
There's a few decent looking front bumper options around for R33s. The 40th anniversary isn't too bad for instance. It's the rear of the R33s I can't enjoy.

>>16602100
>the GTST are all raped into the ground
It's not a huge deal with how cheap importing a low km RB25DET is nowadays.

>>16602143
Really looks aside there's nothing particularly wrong with R33 GTS-T. They're cheaper than RB20DET loaded R32s as well as being lighter and costing a third of what an R34 GT-T weighs.

I drastically prefer how an R32 looks to an R33 but it's a lot of car for the money if you can work on it yourself.

>>16602151
>yeah lots of cunts doing rb25/26 swaps
RB25DET swaps mainly in R32. RB26DETT engines cost a LOT more than RB25DET and are quite a bit harder to get in and get working.

A tidied up RB25DET with some minor work will make plenty of power for an R32 GTS-T with how light they are.

>>16602157
>You can't deny the ugliness and bulginess of the R33 gts/ gts-t models, though.
There are some alright looking ones around. I don't know what this guy was thinking as far as the rear wide body thing goes, but that front end works nicely for me.
>>
>>16602157
It's funny, now that I think about it, even the s14 (produced at a similar time as the r33) looked bulgy. It's like Nissan designers took a leap and then were like "lol fuck, lets go to something more modern" and the s15 and R34 were born. Gotta admit, the S15 and R34 look similar to something of the early 2010s, they were pretty innovative designs.
>>
>>16602160
That does look somewhat better. The original design (Except for the GT-R) lacked the sharp-lines typical of a boyracer type car.

Even the rear doesn't look bad thanks to the modified wing. For me the entire car is let down by that ridiculous wide body thing going on though.

The wing definitely helps to sharpen the overall profile of the car though.

>The original design (Except for the GT-R) lacked the sharp-lines typical of a boyracer type car.
I get what you mean. I don't think R33 look particularly bad generally, but I much prefer how R32 (especially the side profile) and S13/Sil80 look.

I actually like how the front of S14 look but there's something really off with how the rear bumper looks.
>>
>>16602171
Not only the sharper lines, but better proportions. You wouldn't think the short distance they added in the R33 (brought back to r32's length in the 34) would make a huge distance, but it really does.
