Why the rush? Save up another couple grand and buy something that's not 17 years old or rusted the fuck out. You can start getting into some decent cars around the $4K range.

That said, the hood on the Honda says a lot about the previous owner(s). It says they didn't give a shit about the car and didn't take care of it, and that will extend to everything on the car. Get the Mazda if you must.
