>drive to little caesars for lunch
>pull out of parking lot
>take right hand turn at slow speed, full lock like I do every day
>loud clunk, front of car starts bouncing up and down, loud ass fucking grinding sound
>pull over and see this under the hood
Son of a bitch. I need a fucking drink.

how the fuck did you manage to fuck that up so bad

As far as I can tell, the passenger engine mount separated, taking the turn rocked the engine up just enough for the shaft to pull out of the drive cup and destroy the drive cup in the process.
Pretty pissed because I replaced both half shafts just over a year ago, it looks reusable though. The tripod bearings have a few surface dings in them.
Just need to buy some seals and a bearing so I can press out the fucked drive cup and press in a spare, bolt it up and hopefully never have this happen again.
fuck dood
>when you ignore that clunking noise for a year

Never ever heard a clunk either, I think the mount separated in the middle of that turn. I'm just hoping I can reuse the new shaft and tripod bearings.
Coincidentally, I found this guy today. Suspension parts are laying in the road, skid marks to where he parked. Entire lower control arm is detached and pressing against the ground.
Full lock turns are not really good for your drivetrain brO. Bindy.

it gonna be cheaper and easier to buy a new/reman transaxle than it is to fix the current one.
>full lock

b-but I did it every day for years!
desu I know damn well it's not good to do that, I just didn't care. Now I care.

It's an unusual axle setup, that drive cup that got mangled is part of the transmission, not the axle.
A new axle comes with the shaft and outer CV like normal, but the inner is just the bare tripod bearings. You have to grease them up yourself and insert them.
That cup is pressed into a casting, the casting is shimmed for differential backlash/pinion preload.
There's only a small ding or two in the tripod bearings, so I think I'll just polish it out and shove it back in.

Condolences. I didn't know full luck was bad, but it somehow managed to kill two power steering units, so I try to avoid it on superstition.

Old civic?

1993 saab c900, 2.1
Ditching this piece of shit ASAP. I've had three of them and all were extremely reliable, except this 2.1 motherfucker.
Driving to Oregon soon to pick up a flawless, aftermarket ecu, all poly bushing 2.0 tarbo.
These cars are a cult.

Just curious
>saw a lot of old civics stranded with a front wheel snapped off
