If you don't own a pickup, there's something inherently wrong with you.

And I'm not even saying it has to be your DD. But you need to own one. You aren't going to be going to Lowe's and picking up lumber on the weekend with your shitbox Civic.

I got a long bed S10, and it's the greatest thing ever.

It pretty much just sits parked in my yard, but for those few scenarios when you end up needing a truck, it's the greatest thing ever.

I can't imagine the hassle I'd have to go through to always be borrowing someone elses truck whenever I needed to do shit.

I can fit everything I own in a medium/light truck with enough creativity and ratchet straps. There's a hard limit if I have to use a van.

And I have fitted everything I own into a van before. It's not my fucking fault that it took burgershits half a century to realize that you can build vans with different roof heights.

Interestingly I run a landscaping company and my Suzuki sidekick has been my personal vehicle and also the motorized wheel barrow.

You CAN load them with 1000lbs but I am stepping up to a Dakota seeing as I am literally killing the poor little Suzuki.

It has to be a Dakota because it is the only automatic pickup for sale in my country as I would otherwise be able to afford an 8ton dump truck. My business partner is good at business but can't drive manual. At all

I legitimately enjoy driving it, it's literally as bone stock as you can get while still having 4WD, and at the end of the day I'll never find myself in any conceivable personal life situation where I'd have to say I can't do something because of my vehicle.

Hmm, that's good. I ain't got the kind of money for an engine swap, and I doubt I'd find a truck with a good body with dead motor and an ideal engine to put in, so at least you clued me in on the right direction.

What about Toyota pickups, are they any good? My family is convinced that Toyotas will give them the least problems since we own 3 Camries, plus I like some of their aesthetics, like this one.
>>
>>16584642
Toyotas are commonly accepted as exceptionally reliable, which is why new ones are priced pretty high for what they are and old ones use this reputation to enable craigslist gougers to ask upwards of $6000+ for a 90's example with a rusted-to-shit frame and 200k+ miles.

If you can find a decently-priced, older, well-cared-for example in good shape, you've found a unicorn.

We have L200's, frontiers, Nissan Sunny's and Suzuki escudos that resemble that.

Most of that was body damage and a submerged engine isnt really that big of a deal than people think it is, especially if the engine wants running when it fell in the water.

They didn't even hit it properly with the wrecking back. Just touched ut.

We have tended to a couple outboards that fell into the water and managed to revive ALL of them.

I am sure you have seen those episodes when Clarkson chops off the back half of a fwd car and drives it down the road? Literally all a vehicle needs to move is a partially running engine an fuel supply and a way to get power to the wheel.

Why is it that first worlders tend to think that a car is durable if it can drive after an accident? It's all circumstantial

>>not realizing that cargo vans are literally built using the same frame and engine and drivetrain as their pick up truck counterparts but offer infinitely more utility

Nope. I can't fit a full-size milling machine or lathe in a cargo van and getting motorcycles in an out of them is a bitch. My pickup has hauled machine tools, engines, steel, railroad ties, motorcycles, welders (including bringing home my 1300lb Miller 340AB/P),appliances plus the usual shit people haul in vans. I have more space than a cargo van in an easy to load format called a "dual axle cargo trailer" which any of my trucks hauls comfily and which I can leave loaded while hauling other fun stuff with my car trailer. Gas is cheap and so is insurance.

My trucks get me insane deals on many useful thingsm including more trucks, because I can haul them.

The US I assume. I don't pay ten grand for trucks either and I keep mine for decades.

I would tend to agree. My ex's brother in law is an IT guy, he has 2 cats, doesn't really know much about anything outside of computers and his shitty wife/kids and he has a Chevy 2500 with a gas motor. Why? I have no idea. He invited himself to help us move once. He can't lift heavy things either. His truck was the only useful part of that deal. And it basically just made 1 less trip for me in my truck. No need for that truck whatsoever.

Road man driving in the road van
He's got to beat the clock to the next town
Road man driving in the road van
I set up the sound system for the band

Road man slow it down
And you will get there safe and sound
He says, "No, no, no the show must go on"

Road man driving like a mad man
Breaking land speed records in the van
Road man he don't mind police man
Leaving a trail of ripped up citations

Road man slow it down
And you will get there safe and sound
He says, "No, no, no the show must go on"

Road man heavy load
He's got to stop and smell the rose
Road man he says, "No, go. I've got to be the king of the road"

Road man didn't see the train man
Until it was too late to slow the van
Meanwhile the band is waiting for the road man
Who was crushed by his beloved sound system

Road man slow it down
And you will get there safe and sound
He says, "No, no, no, no, no, no
No, no the show must go on"

"The show must go on
The show must go on
The show must go on
The show must go on"

The ranger was made up until 2011, whereas the S-10 was made only until 2004. That's 7 extra years of production.

Early rangers also got shit tier TTB's and later the 4.0 SOHC. Not even the GM 2.8 was that bad.

I DONT KNOW THAT UHAUL RENTS PICKUP TRUCKS THE POST

Since we are on the subject...

Tell me why I shouldn't buy a 2007 Tacoma X Runner as a daily driver.

Six speed transmission, good engine, stiff chassis, factory 2" drop with side skirts for good looks. 18" wheels.

I won't ever haul anything on a trailer more than once a year. Won't load anything more than 1000lbs in the bed.

I can speak for Norway. Heavy taxes on cars, and they get bigger the more power, emissions and weight they have.

Pickups tend to stay much more in value compared to other vehicles aswell.

My Toyota Hilux; new price in 2003 was about $36 000 when you count in the little extras that came with it.
My previous Merc, a 1998 C240, was $58 000 when new.

Value of the Merc when I bought it in 2013; $5400. Thats less than 10% of its value remaining, over 90% lost over 15 years

Value of the Hilux when I bought it last summer; $11 000. Thats roughly 30% of its original value, with 70% lost over 13 years

Small note; we also have a bit of the Toyota-tax going on here, with Hiluxes holding their value incredibly well unless they're really banged up or mistreated. Pickups like the Mitsubishi L200 and Nissan Navara have a more "natural" value loss

Why do I even need a truck for? I have nothing for it to haul in the bed. MPG for one is probably ass. Honestly I don't need one. Only people who drive them that doesn't use it for work related things are just posers, and I don't want to be a poser.
