What's a decent starting budget to get into autocross/rally

If you aren't a good mechanic then don't think about getting into rally at all. Why would you think of wanting a starting budget without your own car. You buy a car, you rally it. If you crash then you are done. Skill takes time and patience. If you want to just rent a car then you're talking more time/money sunk into insurance for the owner of the vehicle.. So if you're thinking of rallying at all without your own car. Hope you are a rich prick.
