Sorry for another "is this car good thread" but I was hoping for some help. I found a car online today for fairly cheap, it's a 1995 bmw 3 series 318i. The guy says it runs well, but has 200k miles. My other concern is that it is RWD and I live in Utah. He says it has all season tires and he can't get the car to slip very easy. Anyone have any experience with these?
>>
Don't buy a 20 year old BMW if you don't know shit about cars. Buy an accord or civic, something that won't blow up every 10k miles.

What happened to BMW general threads?
Im tired of seeing bmws all over the places.
Its just like driving down the freeway. Its pretty much a bmw grave yard.

I've owned an E36 316i, E36 318i, two E46 318ci's (one with the old engine, other one with new engine)
RWD is not a problem if you know basic car control, they are underpowered cars anyway.
The M43 engine is very reliable, my 318i had 350k miles as I sold it, the engine never skipped a beat but my 318i had a cracked induction pipe so the engine was running rough until I changed the pipe.
Check for rust and main rear seal for possible oil leaks
>>
the m44 in the 318's is rock solid

and yeah, it probably wont slip in snow/rain without hesitation because it's fucking weak.

I meant intake pipe

Thanks for the help guys. It's only $750, which to me seemed pretty cheap. I'm going to look at it today. Anything I should check besides the main rear seal?

Oil and coolant leaks in general. Upon inspection wait or drive the car around until the engine has reached operating temperature and watch if it does not overheat
>>
The only major failures on the e36 are the cooling systems.

So go for it

Perfect. Thanks for the he guys.

as a german mechanic and e60 driver, i would not recommend it. Rust, Rust oh and RUST
>>
>>16560210
Don't fucking do it unless you have a good chunk of change to pay a mechanic to fix the shit you can't do.

cars rust in Europe more than in America
There is a reason jap cars are infamous for their rust in Yurop, not so much in USA

It certainly helps that only half of your county gets snow on a regular basis
