Because they can wash any oil or coolant leaks aways and if there are any scratches on the paint some fresh wax will hide it. Plus a good was can hide any body work that was performed if it was in a accident.

You finance to the lowest interest rate you possibly can regardless of term, then you make double /triple/whatever payments until the car is paid off.

This is called building credit and maintaining safety. If shit hits the fan you still have low monthly payments, so you don't have much to worry about if SHTF.
