Ok guys I'm looking for my first car since I passed my driving test, I only have 3-4k to spend and will probably be traveling a lot due to a job I have lined up. Would I be better off leasing or buying? Also from what I gather a used Ford Fiesta is probably the best choice from what I've picked up lurking here.. any suggestions?

Get a civic for 3k. Don't buy a new econobox.

Should I be concerned with cars that have a lot of miles on the clock?

Honestly, anything at that price point is going to be dicey. Fiesta, Corolla, Civic would all be reasonable choices.
Manual Miata

But you can pick up 11-13 Fiestas for literally 4k
I don't get how a beat 05 civic would be a better choice.
I'm thinking about getting a Fiesta myself, so I'm interested in opinions. Manual obviously, Ive driven the DCT. its awful
When are you looking to buy?
How much is then job paying?
Maybe wait for the 2017 Civic Si and use some of your cash for the down payment

Fiestas have a problem with the auto trans
Get a manual and you'll be fine

What does that tell you? They were 15k new so they've lost 70% of their value in a few years. That means it's a shit car.

Not if it had a good owner. Any car will need some things repaired but you'd still come out ahead financially.
