There's a reason we asked where you live. The 2 cars you're looking at don't even compete with each other beyond being cheap 2 doors.
The Civic is a FWD economy car.
The 86 is a RWD sports car.
One does well in the snow (Civic), while the other doesn't (86). One is more fun and better in every other objective way though (86).

The 86 IS a sports car. Don't let the 4 cylinder engine fool you. The engine is a high revving Subaru engine. the chassis was tuned to be reminiscent of the beloved AE86 chassis Toyota Corolla (1984-1987). The styling was styled to be reminiscent of the Toyota 2000GT. The entire point of the car is fun. One of the design criteria was that it had was that, with the rear seats folded down, it had to be able to carry an extra set of tires and a racing helmet for track days. The car was essentially designed from the ground up for drifting.

Everyone loves the Toyobaru twins, the Scion FR-S/Toyota 86 and the Subaru BRZ.
I dare you to find a bad review of it. If you can afford it, go for it it's so much better than the Civic. The only commonn complaint is a lack of power, but you can fix that with an aftermarket supercharger.
