Sometimes I find that my OCD behavior about keeping my car pristine / safe means that in some instances, having my car detracts from an experience... not wanting to drive down bad / rough roads, not wanting to park in certain spots / areas / street park, etc...
I've always been very careful with my cars -- I unwind the engine when appropriate, but try and take really good care of them. I sometimes wonder if getting a runabout 911 might be fun ... one (in addition to my car) that I can feel okay with street parking, taking down a dirt road, etc... because it is already "tainted" by the fact it has that salvage title.
I wouldn't want a car that is mechanically not sound, but perhaps a salvage title car (nothing where safety / mechanicals are sketchy) with high mileage would be fun to have. Anyone else ever feel this way or have gone down this path?
Just curious on perspectives from others.

Yeah after I painted my car I bought another project to drive to work and whatnot. I'm not OCD about keeping the first car clean or not driving it, I just don't want to park it on the street.

This to me is the same argument as putting a bra on your front end or constantly using a cover on a car.
If you have a nice car why would you want to leave it sitting in your driveway while driving a beater around?
Life happens, if you ding a fender or a bird craps on your primary car get it fixed and move on, driving something inferior because you can't bear to see anything happen to your main car is just OCD.

im always afraid some asshole is gonna park too close and dent the door on a body line which would be way more then i could ever afford to fix
honestly i miss my scion tc with a fully upgraded and redone suspension and brakes i could beat on it relentlessly and take it anywhere and it rarely ever broke

Due to me being young and thus poor, my fun car is visually a shit. Paint is faded to all fuck, very minor door dents, peeling clear coat, etc. It lets me not obsess over the cars condition. I can goof around on dirt roads and not care about the gravel scratching up the paint, park wherever and if someone door dings it, no biggy, etc. No need for a salvage title, just a shit paintjob.
