Hey /o/
So after a leaky head gasket it turns out it'll be cheaper to swap in a new 1.8 into my 1994 Miata. Problem is, there's not too many 1.8s in Arizona.
Car-Part.com has a couple motors in WI and FL that have lower miles.. But neither salvage yard has gotten back to me.
A recent craigs ad for a 1999 1.8 popped up, owner said the car had smashed front end and water outlet was broke. No idea on VIN or mileage but says he'd have no concerns using this engine. $1000 is low as he can go.
I guess my question is what would you do in this situation? Miata is my daily with 150k. Don't have a lot of cash or time to work with here. Need new radiator and clutch prob.

how about you stop being a faggot and stop making threads for meme cars?

just do it.
Seriously, this thread is pointless imo. You dont need me to tell you this.
How is getting a new motor cheaper than replacing a head gasket? Did the head or block warp?

Swap in an ls instead. Or just keep the stock engine and replace the gasket.

Headgaskets don't go for no reason and they don't usually go kindly. Something got fucked, the gasket blew, and it probably took something with it.
Get the car, OP. You're not just getting an engine but a bunch of parts and a trans, too.

Not true. A gasket can go and the engine can be fine afterwards. It's not worth hacking up. If he's going to hack it up it needs a v8.
The 1.8l was in every miata in the US from 1994-2005. I would bet there are a shit ton of bp4w's in Arizona you chili choking pepper belly.

Either this (Mazda MX6 GE), a Duratec/MZR (Mazda3/Mazda6) or an FE3N engine (yurop MX6 GD).
That's how you keep it in the family and make an awesome fucking car in the process.

>FE3N engine (yurop MX6 GD)
Huh, didn't know about the FE. Neat.

>Miata
Well there's your problem right there.

mike's has a 1.8 dumbo
>>16459285
Not true as >>16459325 said. I had to replace the headgasket on mine and the car has been fine ever since. The stock gaskets are actually just shit. Just replace the gasket OP. >>16459120
